Hmm, can anyone confirm if the floating wall mounted item glitch still works after this most recent patch? Maybe I'm an idiot, but I can't seem to get it to work after I finally got lucky and relocated to Shirogane (I'm on PS4).

I wasn't sure which you meant, but the traditional floating glitch and the loft glitch are both still working for me.
I'm trying to get a painting to be placed on a Masonwork Stove using a Glade Partition, but I can't seem to get this bug to work lol. Everytime I try to then select the partition and move it, the painting is still highlighted along with it.
I've heard it's a bit fiddly when using a controller. Maybe try using a keyboard and mouse temporarily if you can?
I got it to work eventually; it's just a finnicky bug.
A tip for people struggling with lofts... change your exterior to something with better windows. Place your stuff. Then change exterior back. ;) They aren't destroyed anymore, and there's a ton of them that are dirt cheap on MB, so you can try out a few and find out what works best for you.
I also used this method for placing a bench on the porch of our Carbuncle mansion (I am unsure if the old glitch still works, but this is an easy alternative). Change to an exterior with a small porch, place the item, change exterior back, and it will snap to the floor of the larger porch. (If you're super picky about placement like I am, it helps to have a friend previewing the exterior so they can tell you exactly where to move the item.)
Hope this is helpful!
It works for all the indoor/outdoor fixtures fixtures, but the same rules apply as before so you won't be swapping out any of the singular parts to those full package skins. If you want to go back to the regular house fixtures you'll have to replace the basics (roof, base, windows, door) before it'll trade you back the all-in one.
Does the glitch to get under (mansion) stairs still work? Try as I might, I can't get my character to glitch through the basement ceiling. Getting onto the first set of books works just fine, but not the second.
Also, is it possible to glitch the Head of the Dreadwyrm onto tables with any of these glitches?
Sorry I didn't get back to you but I see Dustytome answered your questions fully! Hope it helps you. When I realized I could do it, I couldn't believe I hadn't thought of it earlier lol. A word of warning though: if you don't normally change your exterior, you'll have to deal with FC members constantly getting lost... seriously, it really throws them off lol
Not sure about the old shelf/book method, but the easier way to do this even before patch (in my opinion) is to use the storage glitch to place a bed partially through the staircase wall thing (Valentione's bed works nicely). Then /doze and just move the bed as necessary until you get inside. Place a bed against the wood wall or at the foot of the stairs, test it out to make sure it's placed right, then remove the first bed. :D
Not sure about your second question, sorry. I haven't tried.
I had better luck clipping from the basement and working out that way, using the tomes and table setup, truth be told though, the problem i've got with the current loft setup, is you lose half of the item you put up there now as opposed to how you had full access to the item before, just seems like a limiter for no good reason. but yeh, the old shelf/book method still works...

Does anyone know how the Stage Panel furnishings were floated in this image? You can see the base of the scaffolding quite high in the air. I don't believe it was achieved using the loft floating trick as there aren't any default windows or stair rails in the area this was taken in. It's a medium, off to the right is the door to the private quarters, to the left is the main door and hidden behind the window setup are the stairs going downstairs.

The only lead I have is this image by the same person showing how certain furnishings can be floated if you stand on a low table (oriental round table in this one) and place directly from storage without display preview enabled. I can reproduce that quite reliably but that only gets you a little bit off the ground as you can see. I'm curious how you would get it so high.
You pretty much would have to make a jump puzzle with other glitches to get yourself high enough. A lot of housing is figuring how to get yourself to a certain height.
Ah that's the thing, it's not as simple as just getting yourself into the air and then placing from storage like that. Otherwise it would just be a matter of finding something the right height. It'll return the standard "Can't be placed there" error in most cases, and out of everything I've tried so far, only attempting that standing on the oriental round table has been successful.
It's possible the glitch has a little more to it. If it's something about the oriental round table for instance, perhaps you have to glitch the table itself into a high place first (which is another question in itself). Someone was also able to view that house in question and noticed this in the upper floor:
https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachmen...08/unknown.png
So it's possible that that person went about it the roundabout way and glitched it down through the floor to create that effect on a lower floor. I'm not aware of any glitch that let's you sink a partition type item through the floor like that though.
Being able to arbitrarily float non-surface dependent items has been a fairly long standing problem in the housing sphere. We have that loft trick as recently seen, but those are still dependent on there being nearby default geometry to anchor them to (the built in windows/rails/etc). With most furnishings we still don't have true freedom like with the floating item trick, that's why this is potentially a little bit interesting.
No need for jump puzzles or other complicated trickery. All you need to do is have it in storage and make sure Display Preview is checked. Click on it so it pops out in front of you in blue, then click on it again so you can drag it around. Drag it above a window and use your keybind for subcommand menu to place it.

Thanks for the explanation, but I was initially under the impression that the setup I posted did not use this particular subcommand menu glitch. I say initially, because I inspected a medium house and found a window right below where the stage panels were located in that setup.
So that settles that I suppose! It does seem like that person used the subcommand menu glitch after all. I had gotten my hopes up that we had finally found a universal floating item glitch, but alas it looks like that day won't be today.
I guess I don't understand. I can't seem to get this to work. Does it only work with the new stage item or something?
Has anyone gotten the alternate method of getting underneath the staircase in post #4 to work, since 4.2? Ever since that patch I've been unable to place a bed from storage at all, and no amount of fidgeting or adjusting camera angles seems to get past the "can't be placed there" error. Maybe I'm not trying hard enough, but I don't recall it taking so long to find that magic pixel sweet spot before.
I have seen an image of someone placing a bed under the stairs successfully, but it was the big ground floor staircase going up in a mansion. The ones I've been trying it on are a lavender beds small and medium, and it's working on none of the stairs in any of those houses for me. 4.2 was the patch they did something to break OOB furniture placement, so I'm wondering if that has something to do with it.

i managed to get my lalafellin material supplier to stand on the lalafellin step stool with the round table. (and other things like great gubal floor lamp)
Anyone else encountered that items like the troupe stage don't lift off of the floor anymore? Or am I doing something wrong?
I tried to do this and couldn't get it to work. Any tips?
Any idea how to do the OoB glitch that Alice did to her plot 19 where she placed the bench on the column? She gave a brief description of it on her blog but I can't for the life of me figure it out.
The glitch for floating stages, etc. was fixed in 4.2. However, there is now another glitch introduced in 4.2 that does something similar (sometimes). I havn't experimented with it much as I don't want to mess up my current room.
Would be nice if people on this thread would stop saying "i did this" without explaining how
:)
Has anyone managed to put the Head of the Dreadwyrm on a table or pedestal? Whenever I try to put it on the Oriental Round Table it gets on the floor instead. I tried with a Riviera Round Table and it is ON the table when previewing, but then I get the "Unable to place item" error...
I think Ashiee made a video and posted it on reddit (if not it looked like her, so sorry!). The table glitch initially shows the item on the floor and then you have to exit/enter the house for it to relocate to the correct position. I think that's where I was getting caught up. Been having some fun spending 50+ attemps trying to place a troupe stage up high... finally got it but it's aligned slightly to one side. I hate having to do this so much just to float something. :(
Lalafell stands on step stool trick:
https://img2.finalfantasyxiv.com/acc...3f93d933f5.jpg
Place the oriental round table and stand on the edge of it.
https://img2.finalfantasyxiv.com/acc...f65235d46a.jpg
Place the permit you like from the storage and use the subcommand to place it.
https://img2.finalfantasyxiv.com/acc...38d2add02d.jpg
Choose the race and gender.
https://img2.finalfantasyxiv.com/acc...d230e7b6de.jpg
Place the step stool under the NPC. Leave housing menu. The NPC stands on the ground in the step stool but all you have to do is leaving your house and enter again.

The Lala stands on the step stool now.
edit: I wasn't aware of the video, i made this guide and forgot to post it online. There it is now, that's how I did. I'm sorry, i wanted to post this earlier ^^
I also found out that private small houses have a invisible door in the back of the ground floor, you can glitch a troup stage there and you can choose the height of it.
https://img2.finalfantasyxiv.com/acc...e93354fea8.jpg
And @Myon88: The medium house has a window on this site. You can glitch the stage panel there. (when it is right that the fc door is on the right and the stairs are on the left) It is just not visible in this screenshot.I also found out that private small houses have a invisible door in the back of the ground floor, you can glitch a troup stage there and you can choose the height of it.
Thanks so much for that helpful info Nini, i think my fc room will have some lalafell npcs now
Is it possible to get 3 troupe stages up, and same height and width now?
For example, to make loft from front to back of S house.
I cannot seem to do so.
Sorry my bad English.
Lofts can only be placed above permanent house fixtures, like above doors windows, the tops of railings, and certain pillars, so you'd nee a wall with all the windows lined up. For example, you could stretch a loft across the back of an FC room or apartment very easily.
