The issue now stems from the current wards always being active. For example, if no one is queuing into Alexander normal, all that content will not load. Instanced housing allows the devs to close off said instances to where they will only load whenever someone is inside. Since most people don't idle around their houses 24/7, it'd be considerably less strain.

I disagree, back when I owned a mansion out of mists with my fc I was there all the time, now granted, I may be a bit of an outlier myself, but I wouldn't say what you're proposing would be a complete fix

This is not how it works, and sadly, while people may not be 24/7 in a plot, my FC has multiple members. If one is on duty, there will still be someone who will be using the house. Or even afk there while taking a nap.
There's people who afk in the summoning bell outside of apartments too, which are still part of the instance.

It would take a considerable amount of time to 'reload' the instances everytime one single person wants to access it, so it the end you will most probably strain the server more by making so many requests to shut the instance off then on again.
And it would be disruptive at the very least.

A mansion district (All Large) should make people happy enough. It exists in RL.

I may have met him at Fanfest, shook his hand and got a photo but he's not my best mate. He may put in tremendous amounts of time and work, even cried, during this game's development, but he's not perfect.

I (and the rest of the community) should not afraid to think (or even tell him) that for everything awesome he's done and for how nice of a guy he is, he has made some bloody weird and stupid decisions.

Especially ones that have been impacting the playerbase, festering and getting steadily worse since a patch nearly 4 years ago.

Thanks, honestly, the whole announcement he put up for the housing in the first place was just a recognition of the problem itself, no plan to give details on how they intend to get it fixed, but just that it's being done

Nothing about that actually proves anything's going to be done, it's nothing new, tbh, it's just words, and at the end of the day, most likely just another hollow promise.

Pretty much.

He works in a corporate environment, and if SE is like any corporate environment (which it is), as much as Yoshi-P probably wants to fix it all, the higher ups will want it done with the least amount of money/effort spent as possible.

If you have a good idea and it costs money to implement, then bugger off. If you have a questionable idea which costs nothing to implement, hot dog, we have a wiener.

Unless he gets additional budgeting or siphons resources away from other things, the endgame will indeed be another hollow promise or another half-baked solution that will boggle the mind.

I, for one, am very interested to see how it plays out.

The real question is about people who own multiple houses or even those who own an entire ward or half a ward.

Worst case senario is we get more wards and the big change is they wait a little while after the servers to live to make plots buyable.

Honestly I don't think 4.2 is the patch that solves housing, does anyone really? I think most of us are just hoping 4.2 will be the patch where we don't fight server issues as well as each other for plots.

I don't. I'm no longer under any illusions that this system will be fixed or is at all fixable at all. 4.2 will roll around and be nearly exactly like 4.1. That is what I think anyway. I'll be pleasantly surprised if it is not, but I'm not holding my breath.

I hope they realize that only adding 1-2 wards at a time isn’t a solution in the slightest. Unless they do something drastic like add 100 more wards to each housing area simultaneously to make it drastically more difficult for scalpers to get, it won’t work.

Another issue is the housing reclamation itself, I don’t like the current system as is, I actually think it needs to be harsher, way harsher. It really bothers me when I see entire wards bought up but when you spend any decent amount of time there you never see anyone. Unless people are actively utilizing and spending time in their houses, I don’t think they should get one honesty.

Did this person even really read what was said? there was no care for the users, all that was done, was an acknowledgement of what was wrong, a hollow statement of what he says might happen while also saying they won't be giving out details, and that it should be implemented by 4.2... ya know there's a load of things i'm still waiting to be implemented as well, and those were promised 2 years ago, what makes this any different?

It's like the whole patch was nothing more than just a bit of bad PR, even when ya look at how little was actually done with Hildibrand, but they had to make him part of the face of the patch... what?

This will not fix housing. You know this, I know this, Yoshi knows this.
Nothing will change except introducing couple more wards. I'm guessing additional 3 wards per zone.

What I would like to see however is a restriction system put in place and/or a actual resell system. Maybe something similar how demolition works, ie you get back 80% (i think) of the purchanced plot. It could help against the flipping problem.

Not really since it kind of still encourages costs for vacating in the first place.. just with more return...

That would add to flipping, not help it.

So to help with the housing issues i think they should make more housing in Ishgard and also Idyllshire, places where there are no housing and it would be a good option without putting housing instanced. I'm afraid if they make instanced housing that we wouldn't be able to talk to our neighbors or having awesome views of everyone's house and the beach or whatever views they have inside the housing zone. There are options in different cities or even zones for more housing. Everytime i go to Costa Del Sol i think housing would be awesome there, even though they have one in limsa already. Its just beautiful there. Anyways just putting these thoughts out there.

Haha, it ain't hard to tell which ideas are going to help and which are just ultimately people pulling something out of... left field, yeah that's what I meant... Truth be told, this housing issue always has been an issue since day one, it's just a matter of stagnation, it's one of those things that has been touched upon once, and hasn't seen any need for adjustments simply because it's serving its purpose and keeping a certain amount of people happy, and keeping the company paid...
