Thank you FFXIV community forums for the lovely chats, debates, and giggles. I'll poke in from time to time to read about the patches and what not. I will most likely keep posting until I can't post any longer on the forums since I just logged in a few days ago. I just wanted to make sure I let you guys know, that I will miss the bantering and chatting when I'm gone.

To the devs, please keep up the good work. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you guys that you can turn this game around into what an FF game should be. I know you have it in ya!

They haven't progressed the game in any way since its release. No level caps, no new jobs, nada. They have only added stuff for people that will never be any higher than level 50. I would say the lack of progression is where most people are getting the beta thing from. Not saying the game hasn't improved, it just hasn't moved foward yet. And it is still a beta or they wouldnt be using the player base to fix all the problems. That is traditionally what they do in a beta test.

I think a better reason for you to give is that your life outside of FFXIV is becoming more involved with your husband's work picking up and the two of you expecting a child (congratulations btw) so you don't have the time for the two of you to play at the level you'd like to and have it be worth paying the incoming monthly rates for it. THAT I totally understand and wish you the best not that because you have to pay to play it isn't worth it anymore.

Maybe she wasn't having fun but wanted to keep her account to check in every now and then hoping that some new changes would make it the game she had hoped for. If the price does not justify someone paying and sticking around who cares? It just means the product is not worth their money...that is her money and her choice.

This thread reminds me of how nasty people can get over such trivial things. Really dissapointing. :/

Good ol "good bye" threads. Sorry you are leaving the game. Sometimes you do get tired of a game to the point where you don't want to play it, understandable.

However, the 'Beta' talk is annoying. I did only start playing the game in September. I enjoy it enough to continue paying for it, but I never have considered this a Beta. If it was a Beta I would have gotten a download file, limited/specific play times, no updates, and full character wipes. Now I will point out and say it is dumb they do not have mailing, auction house, and things of that nature because those should have been easily implemented from the start. This is due to the great idea of outsourcing coding and such, and SE as well as Tanaka payed the price for it.

Now I don't expect 2.0 to be the most amazing patch/update ever. However I do expect it to at least provide better functionality for user interfaces and gpu settings. The reason for "lack of content" is fairly obvious. Currently they are doing parallel development, aka making 2.0 while doing small updates to the current version. The second is the release time. Most people who played FFXI where not playing from JP launch. JP launch did not have zilart and had a lower level cap just like this game. Due to a good dev. team XI managed to push out an expansion faster than this game because they did not have the same issues as this game.

I am not saying cut SE a break, by any means. I will not say I defending them for having some very poor game mechanics, but I do appreciate them recreating the game and giving it to people free once it released. You may not say it is free because we will now start paying, but look at other MMOs. In most other situations the game would have flopped, the development team would have been gutted, there would have been little to no updates, and the money you spent on the game at launch- too bad. I wish I could moderate and insta-delete all good bye threads >.>;

I prefer to call this phase Charlie-testing phase...
