Job Specific gear and dyes.

Just to get my opinion in here: I want every single friggen White Mage to look like the classic White Mage. I want every Bard to look like a Bard, and identical to eachother. I want every Dragoon to like like goddamn Kain :D
Because nothing would rock more than going "What's that blue thing there... Got a pointy stick- Oh, hey a Dragoon!". I want the AFs to be the one and only way of identifying in a milisecond what your job is.
And yes, changing colors would absolutely ruin that

(do not take me seriously at all, despite the fact that I DO prefer every job specific gear to be perfectly equal and uncustomizable, I do not have any huge opinion on this)

It would be pretty awesome if you could just change certain bits without affecting the overall feel. For example, the paladin tabard could have its colour changed, the rims on the white mage outfit (I get classically it's white and red, but i think you could keep the classic whm feel with a few other colours too), the BLM could have the purple bits changed etc.

Would keep the feel but add a little bit of freedom, even if it's not a huge amount.

Don't forget the AF would be untradeable.
What do you need to dye a gear? A crafter.
What gear can you dye? uncolored gear

So you guys want pale white AF for everyone who has not the right crafter class with the right level?

I give up. Some of these people are relentless bringing in vocabulary terms and crap into this discussion. I still don't see the problem with dyeing one, two, or three different things on this gear. But everyone else is sooo resilient to it.

I honestly don't understand the devs POV on this. So a yellow Monk outfit that looks CLEARLY Eastern-inspired would suddenly be less identifiable if it were red or brown? Does that color change hide all those blatantly Monk-esque design choices and Jedi mind trick people into thinking you're wearing a hauby or something? ._.

Job gear should have the option for dyes. It's goofy that there isn't going to be one.

so you're calling basically every MMO goofy for not having this option? yeah customization options are nice to a degree but how does a lack of ALL the options *you* want in any way impact the overall game design?

it doesn't. it's just flavor.

and it's backwards logic anyway since the only way you could ever be truly unique is if you were able to edit your armor color pixel by pixel however you wanted. because even if you can dye your AF armor RED or BLUE or _______, you're still going to see hundreds or even thousands of other people with the same colors.

is it a big deal to implement, either way? no, not really. and that's kind of exactly the point. it's NOT a big deal, and because it's NOT a big deal it means the devs have MUCH more important things to worry about right now.

maybe start a petition for letting people do this in 2.0, but for now if the devs were to try to implement it you're just taking resources and manpower away from developing ACTUAL CONTENT, which is what the game needs right now.

i just keep seeing thread after thread where people are confusing what they personally want (right now) with what the game actually needs (right now), and in my opinion 'unique' (lol) armor colors aren't going to save this game. so maybe let's focus on the stuff which actually will.

I never said I wanted this NOW. It would be cool if it was implemented in 2.0, but I never said now. And they have different groups that do different things there. There aren't 3 people doing everything.

In the end, for whatever reason, as much as there are people that want dying options for Job AFs, there are also people who would rather keep them uniform and iconic.

It is a matter of opinion. There is no right/wrong. There are only various justifications people will come up with for their arguments.

It has already been addressed by Yoshi-P that they've decided to keep them uniform and have different designs and color palettes for future releases of more Job AF sets. Further argument in this matter is therefore moot. This is not one of those things where if people bitch enough Yoshi's gonna cave in and have implemented. He's laid out his plan, and it's not something so detrimental to the game's success that he'll change his mind all of a sudden.

Whoever quits this game because they can't customize their Job AF should just go anyway. If you're gonna quit over something like that, you were already on your way out.
