You know that going turn into actual RMT. Person A buy token for real money. Person B buy it from person A in PF for Gil
If they add it to the mogstation, it would have to be a in game trade-able token. It's the same thing when looking at other games and you see things like token items for game time. By definition: Real-Money Trade, or RMT for short, refers to the practice of exchanging in-game goods or services for real-world cash. Such goods and services commonly include gil, powerleveling, and even entire accounts and characters.
They already have shown they do not care about RMT because they have a cash shop which is very much RMT (in game resources such as mounts, outfits, dyes, jump potions (essentially a character) ect for money), the difference is it supports the parent company and not a third party.
While this game SHOULD NOT have a cash shop because it is sub based, it does and as such SE actively partakes in RMT. Something like a housing token would be the only way to go forward with a mogstation house. The goal of the token is to provide a in game house, not make gil. That is just a potential outcome.
Lets not give them ideas. As a person who generally doesn't care about what's there..even I think that would be a very bad idea.
No facking chance, it'd be the last straw for me if they did.
SE seems more than eager to capitalize on gameplay problems solving them via Mogstation cashgrabs, just look at retainers.
I hated if players took all houses in wards. I late buy house from own gils.
Would nice SE make more many wards than 12
I am thankful that the post against this idea as the most likes. I feared that some might be just too frustrated about owning no houses that they would chose such an option.
Doing this would free at least one plot! Mine. Because that would be the last straw to stop playing this game. We already get more and more stuff in the cash shop and yet even with all the cash shop, the launch was horrible, less content instead of more and so on.
If they get away with doing something like that in a P2P game, then I am quite sure that it will not take much longer and you have whole raids and other important things in there.
What we should do: Let our voice be heard! Lets not forget about the housing situation and ask SE about it all the time, or discuss it in this forum. Even if they dont change this, we can at least say that we tried our best and that they cant just ignore it forever.
I think I would be amenable to having a system to reserve a plot on the mog station with your gil. i.e. log in, system verifies you have the gil, then you register for an open plot and then actually go and buy it when you log in. Idk enough about how mogstation and player data interact to know if that's possible, but it would be an improvement over the mad free for all we have now.
It still would not change the fact that plots are really limited and that its first come first served. So instead of people rushing in to get a plot, they will rush to the website and maybe even crashing it. It has one advantage: People that are not home can try to get one, but this would mean that even more people would try it -> crash of the site and only the lucky ones get it again.
In the end this would be just another band-aid. We need a true solution where nothing like that is even necessary since anyone gets a house.
i think a better idea would be to add smaller wards to existing areas such as sea of clouds, ishgard, or dravanian hinterlands, etc. and unlike the larger wards these smaller wards would hold only 1 large, 2 meds, and 10 smalls. so essentially the concept would be "less is more". since wards are smaller this would cause less stress on the server. this in turn would also make it easier for them to add more wards to these smaller housing areas.
Only if it were account bound and all characters on it would share it, otherwise I'm not crazy about the idea at all.
How about they just finally give us infinite housing instead?
With thouzands of players on a server, it's rediculous that only a hundred or so players can purchase a house.
Would be a nice solution, makes me really wonder how their servers are put together in their serverfarm. Seeing how they've avoided housing like the plague since 2.0, but if its the sheer size of the wards that are a problem i'm sure most people at this point would be content with just a darn house to begin with. I mean having an airship and such IS a definite boost, and locking most of the playerbase out of such a boost due to lack of access is downright awful.
i only see this being more of a blood bath for housing, realy i can she any way of solving the housing issue without massively overhauling the system but then ya would have to overhaul gardening cause of the cross-breading witch means some recipes would have to be changed
No, because your sentence is FALSE.
S.E doesn't need another incoming for better hardware or add 12 more buttons in a GUI.
On the other hand you are correct, S E doesn't need the money from the wedding or additional retainers
Instead of adding unworthy money on the plate, I do exactly the opposite and give less.
This is not the time where a company can be greedy, this is the time where the customer is always right because it's full of qualified competitors.
If they provide it as last solution, I will buy it for my FC. I feel very hopeless about the system.
If they want money, name the price. I will throw money at their faces.
I think you would genuinely have to have s**t for brains to throw more money at this company to give you something you should already be getting. What is it with Generation Stupid trying to solve everything by throwing more and more money at these sickeningly greedy companies? Unbelievable.
The only thing that bugs me, is that I'm stuck going along for the ride with this wave of stupidity.
If this was a F2P game I'd see the argument for it. But it's not. We pay a monthly sub to play, and already have to fork out money for extra storage. I would not be okay with paying even more again for housing.
I don't think the issue is SE not having the money. This is probably a time vs profit issue. The company likely feels all the time that would be required into making enormous changes to the housing system wouldn't be as profitable as doing other content in that time instead.
I thought about this idea at first, shortly after my rage faded into a simmer... Then thought better of it. Housing is a part of the subscription and if they were to switch it over to MogStation - that will make me angry all over again. It wouldn't be a bad idea if that is what they did from the start - maybe.
i think we pay SE enough money, monthly sub+ we buy the expasions , if FF14 have a housing system, every player deserve 1 housing spot/ account.
So what SE should do:
1. make a housing lottery and give every player a same chance to "win" a house in shirogane
2. give us enough wards, if high populated servers need 100+ wards than do it, whats the technical difficulty to do this? Im not a game developer but if Lord of the rings online a 10 years old MMO can solve this out no way that its not possible here
Apartments not a solution, its a private chamber without garden, ppl want house
Considering the time I spend in this game, 13 Euros per month is nothing compared to what offline-Titles cost compared to the time it takes me to beat them. So yes, I would definitely pay for the ownership of a bigger house in a district of my choice.
A few years ago, I made the suggestion to make plots available on the mogstation but I got responses back then.
I own a small plot (got one a few months, ago) but I would prefer a middle plot because my plot has 4 tenants, already and it's getting a bit crowded. Also the garden is way too small to use it properly.
Since Square doesn't really try to fix the housing problems, I could imagine to rent a house on the mog-station, (similar to the retainer-services.)
This service however, should be purely optional and for people who don't mind spending a little money.
That way everyone should be happy because it's their own decision to spend money or not.
Let's be honest: Square probably won't add more plots so soon, again (years of pleas for more plots have been met with a quite ridiculous amount of additional plots)
*"!!OPTIONAL!!"* housing-service on the mogstation? STRONGLY PRO! (don't care if other house owners complain about that)
Last thing we need is more nickle and dime'ing.
I was originally against this just because I get annoyed with in-game shops. However, this worked splendidly in Elder Scrolls Online. They gave people the option to work for an Apartment and if they so wished they could purchase a house for tons of gold or purchase from the store for real cash.
I am perfectly fine with this method. They’re then making real money to support this housing system and maybe then they can focus a bit on the housing servers so that whatever is causing the issue now, will be addressed since they’re bringing in cash solely for that.
No. Especially if those who currently own houses get to keep them with no additional charges. You either make housing a premium commodity (terrible idea as this is advertised to be a game feature) or you allow houses to be a feature for everyone.
I say this as a player with an FC house and a personal house.
A lot of people would be willing to add $1 more to their subscription if they were guaranteed a house.
Just do what other MMOs that had limited housing does; put in the ability to sell them. Maybe a max of 170-200% of the initial purchase price or something. You're just making a black market where people can ask for 10x the price, otherwise.
...I'm already paying for retainers (non-issue, i'm a crafter) but...I don't like the idea of paying cash for something that others can buy with gil. what would i use gil on then? because i can't see too much that I would...mats? to...make things to make more gil?
No, they tout housing as a feature (I got a bright and joyous email at 4pm EST about new housing, almost made me wish it was a physical copy, so i could rip it up) and...well, we've all seen the technical issues that happened.
Make apartments an unlimited quantity, and adjust the size to be the same as a single floor of a medium house instead of a cottage. That way even the slowest of slowpokes can get their housing, and everyone else can keep their persistent luxury homes to ERP in. A win-win for everyone.
Intentionally leave housing broken to sell houses in the cash shop?
EA Games much?
