Yoshi P already said no, sadly.
I already feel bad as I know hardcore RPers will not want to leave no matter what. They made their bed there, have their housing and other memories on that server that moving to another would be difficult. it would actually be better to send off the non RP community than disrupt people who RP since they have memories and such non-RP will not understand.
Why are RPers memories more important than non rpers? Why should rp'ers get special treatment of a new server that they can transfer to that no one else can with completely open housing wards? What makes you so special as to deserve this when you pay the same sub as the rest of us?
I'm all for this is RP'ers have to pay a special RP sub thats twice that of other players.
I don't RP. I see no point in player housing. If you are so partial to your house, you even have a little RP in you. a player will take what accommodations as needed. who cares where the house is at? Hell, my FC changed houses recently and it didn't even bother me, just had to adjust moving around the beds. I actually gave the counter, non-RPers should get a fresh server off Balmung and RP keep their server, not your suggestion at the end of your rant. FFXIV is the ONLY MMO I have played that didn't have a dedicated RP server. IF Square finally makes one, Bal is the best one to do.
I'm completely in agreement. We all know the non-RPers mostly arrived on the server illegally without documentation. They then started taking jobs with less pay and much less effort... It just drives the economy down. As someone on another server I can still see where you are coming from. Let's make Balmung great again.
Most people won't leave Balmung because they're embedded there. Lots of their friends are there, their houses are there. RP'er or non-RP'er, it doesn't matter. Lots of Rp'ers have friends that don't RP and vice versa. Majority of the people who did leave do not have much to lose. Get over it.
I dunno, we left an fc house with 4 rank 50 airships behind, as well as friends and the like. But we dealt with it rather than spend half the day complaining on the forums while sitting in queue. The people of Balmung created the problem they face, by telling everyone "oh, just create a character and transfer it over 3 days later, thats how you bypass the character creation locks!"
If you want to keep your half day que, stay there. I know if I couldn't play when I wanted to, I'd hop to a lower pop server and let my friends know via discord Where I went and to join me. (yes, if you are truly "embedded" you'd have contact outside of the game).
I never was on Balmug. I never will be, unless it was the last server around. No Offense, Balmung.
by keeping all the population issue IN Balmung and benefit all the other players in other servers... LOLQuote:
Resolving the Balmung Population Issue at Minimal Cost to the Benefit of All Players
You can have contact with people outside the game, and still be embedded. Don't be patronizing. My post was directed at the OP for wanting to force a sub-culture of people to transfer off, when people who would transfer off have already.
The queue doesn't bother me, I'm not complaining about them, because it goes away after a week or two of every expansion launch. It's literally nothing, but whatever other words you want to throw in my mouth, go for it.
I've been reading about this both here and on the Hydaelyn roleplayers forums and I truly do not believe SE designating an RP server is going to solve the problem (not by itself anyway). The issue is that the people on the RP forums are almost too nice and considerate to make a set choice.
Balmung did not get its reputation and popularity because SE told people to go there. Balmung got its reputation because we, the players, told everyone else to go there. Go google search "FFXIV which server should I join" and comb through the results. For years, and even some entries in 2017 before the complete lockdown, people essentially said "If you're in NA and like to raid, go to Gilgamesh. If you like RP or are casual, you should go to Balmung." Guess what happened?
The players have to do that again for another server. SE can and should probably put a label on the servers, and that will help with initial server traffic. But if a community is to be built, on say, Mateus (that's the big one I keep seeing around as one with potential) then it's the players that will have to take the reigns at that point. From now on when people ask "Which server should I join?" start telling people the servers you guys have picked.
Pick a server or two. Make a thread here, tell people on the FFXIV Reddit (even ask the mods there to help keep it pinned for a few weeks or something), and even the groups on Tumblr. Get the word-of-mouth going. That will go towards building a new RP server far more than waiting on SE to slap a label there. Yes it's hard work that nearly no one wants to do, but all you have to do is come up with a server name. Pick a name, let the internet telephone game do the rest for you. You're going to have to do this anyway if SE makes the decision and also decides to accept transfer money again to Balmung once expansion hype dies down.
Yeah, no. See quote below.
SE is wholly at fault for this. They ALLOWED people to do it in the first place. They willingly took people's $18 to transfer to Balmung. KNEW this was a problem, otherwise they'd have left Balmung completely open and never imposed a character creation lock. If it was such a huge problem, logic would dictate that they'd have done this transfer lockout WAY BACK WHEN instead of doing it just now.
Why did so many people transfer here? It's not just because it's an RP server or it's casual-friendly whatever else. I think a major factor is because there's always something going on 24/7. I mean, I could be on at 2 am PST and see PF's for EX trials or Alex Creator Savage.
But please. Continue to blame the playerbase when all they want is to not be in small servers and be able to play with their friends. And be able to indulge in RP if they want. It's so easy to blame other people whey don't have this problem in the first place.
You can't really blame SE for this, the problems with Balmung have been visible on this forum for a long time and people still kept pushing that to do anything in the game you need to be on Balmung and telling people how to get round the restrictions, especially now you have cross worlds PF so you can join those groups on any server.
