at least I can RP Matrix-style now.

note: no i dont rp, and I suck at cosplaying. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I really want that top but $18 yea no, I could care less about the skirt I just want the top but yea again $18 no, they out of their minds with their prices. But people buy them so they why the prices remain like this.
What does this have to do with anything? I and many other have jobs and $18 not a problem for me to spend but it comes down to if person thinks it worth the money they spend on it. So don't assume a person is just too poor or cheap to buy something instead they just they don't just frivolously spend money.
While I do like it, it's just not worth the price for me. Especially since we'll be given plenty "far eastern" gear in a few weeks that might be just as good, if not better, than the Fuga set.
As a Cash Shop Whale, even I'm starting to think it's getting a bit much...
I mean, couldn't they have at least waited til 4.0 came out?
Couldn't they have added the Fuga Attire as craftable, level 1 glamour?
Couldn't they have had the Eastern Stretch come from a cute little quest, like an NPC reminding you to stretch before you go swimming?
During SE's Financial Report they talked about wanting to go with a more "Games-as-a-Service" type of model and it kind of worries me... >x>
over priced
*pass*
once SE stops overpricing stuff I may buy things
I don't really care about the outfit and most other items in the cash shop, but I do agree that they're going a bit out of the way. Sure, it's impossible to get them removed or whatever, but I think at this point they should at least allow us to get these items in other ways.
I mean, look no further than SWTOR: it's a trashy f2p game with a sub that's basically forced, but whenever I sub I get some cartel credits (500 + 100 with the OTP) which I can spend anytime and I'm actually inclined to sub more often because of the potential reward I can get. It's pretty underwhelming that a shady f2p does the cash shop better (in terms of rewarding the subscribers at least) and I heard that even wildstar does it pretty nicely. And this game can't?
I think SE should do something like this too so that the more they play, the more they get rewarded...but at this point I'm afraid it's too late and they won't even bother.
tbh I just wish there was more to the set to justify the price. Its basically a $9 robe and a $9 skirt.
$18...for a two piece outfit? That is only on one character? Thats a little steep. My friends and I use the cash shop to give each other little gifts (its great for the birthdays of folks you cant otherwise do anything for) and the ever addictive fantasia. Some of us use it to scoop up event items we missed (looking at you eastern cherry tree and bomb dance). The dance had a fantastic price, the trees were okay but by contrast most of us werent interested in the lightning gear. Lately things have just gotten a bit pricy.
It looks great, but if we can get a full outfit AND a hairstyle for $15.00, this one probably should have been priced a little lower...
For comparison both are extras to the core game and one is account wide.

Gear is only shared with one or two other jobs. Clearing story only requires leveling one combat job, and having gathering/crafting professions in addition to a battle class is not unique to FFXIV. Not sure what you mean by content unlocked to help you level. You unlock leveling roulette immediately upon completing the first three dungeons. The other roulettes don't really offer much in the way of xp (or can't even be done unless you're level capped). PotD is unlockable very early on as well, meaning you could conceivably level to cap using it on your very first job if you wanted to.
Can we stop with this? Our subscription pays the cost of patches. You know, that content where we have whole raids, dungeons, trials, MSQ and an assortment of gear and glamour that follows. You're acting like we've been given next to nothing and now they want more money. Complain about the price all you fancy. I agree, it's silly expensive. But leave the subscription argument by the curb. It doesn't have any bearing on the Cash Shop.
All these people acting like $18 is a lot of money, must be underage and never had a job in their life.
Check wallet again yep still nice and fat..... Those prices though lol seriously thank Hydaelyn I never gotten into buying vanity fluff...
Insulting people is always a conductive way to further a conversation!
It is expensive relative to other things on the MogStation / the game itself. You are getting two pieces of gear at a value of $9.00 a piece (USD). That is a tad ridiculous, whether or not you are employed.
I'm here to say that I'm voting with my money and not making this purchase although I find the new item very appealing.
We continue to make these purchases, Square Enix will continue this kind of business with us.
This is NOT what we wanted when we voiced our opinion about having a cash shop Square Enix.
It's almost like they are asking us to buy Eastern themed glamor gear right before an Eastern themed expansion drops. Think I'll wait and see what there is in a few weeks.
I like the outfit, but not for the price.
That's funny because let's see what I pay a month shall we? Damn sure I am not alone here, since a lot of people pay more, then the one basic subscription.
I am paying for 3 accounts that are standard subscription, the ones that have more then one character per server, that totals $44.97 by itself
2 of these accounts have maxed out retainers, while the third account has only 4 extra ones, totals $32
Purchased the CE for stormblood x3, totals $179.97 (one time additional cost but needed to add that)
Let's not look at the purchases for the base game years ago, or the HW expansions and the money I did spend on fantasia's, dye's, server transfers, name changes etc.
So in general, I can defiantly afford it, in fact I won't even have to blink but that's not the point. As I stated some post's prior, it's getting out of hand because the prices go up, for less product/quality as an overall. I and many others are not willing to pay that, or even want them continue going that route, and we're allowed to voice our opinion. Just saying don't buy it then, is not going to change anything.
I also can see some people that do not have the money, I don't need to insult these people, there will be most likely a reason they are in that kind of situation, and taken away their right to have an opinion because they are not as fortunate as others, is absolute wrong and unnecessary.
The mog station costumes are beautiful, but with them being neither storable or account wide I've yet to buy one for myself no matter how tempting (I did buy a Y'shtola set as a gift for someone else). I love this one but I think I'll just wait and see what Stormblood has to offer for glamour.
Yoshi wore this in the LL. I was actually really looking forward to it coming out in Stormblood lol...oh how naive I was. I am not supporting this business practice. If I can resist the Chinese outfit, I can resist this. I am quite salty that this is what I woke up to. I just want it to be known that I abhor the greedy lady in charge of the cash shop.
ugh more japanese stuffs..., its getting too boring.
Cant we have like other cultured clothings.
Hellluuuuuu
Most complaints in a nutshell.

That's the argument I brought to the table when Sir Aymeric's jacket hit the station. To top it off, it even has a disciple of war restriction on it, for the lovely price of 15$.
SE's going to town with its pricing decisions because its extra income. They probably don't even have a target quota with the mogstation, which can explain why they're continuing with their "sell less for more" tactic. Expect to see in the future individual pieces from a set being sold at twice the price of a whole one.
I said something like this back in page 3.
If you people (collectively) keep buying these expensive things, then Square Enix will continue to put things on the Mog Station that are ridiculously expensive.
I am wholeheartedly expecting them to release an emote that has a USD15 price tag and another glamour set for USD32.
Is this what you all want?
...really.
Saw that on the live stream and just assumed it would be stormblood armor.
it's really feeling like my subscription and expansion purchases have less and less value over time...
Also gonna throw my support with the crowd calling SE out for charging almost 20 bucks for a two piece costume.
The mog station is getting out of control for a buy/pay to play game. And I continue to be disappointed in the fanatical/whale side of the community for letting SE get away with this.
Honestly? I couldn't care less. If they did, I simply wouldn't purchase it. I only have the Moogle mount because a friend decided to randomly gift it to me (because she's awesome). I didn't feel like spending $30 at the time, especially with how awful the Canadian currency value is. Nonetheless, people posting here don't even make up a fraction of the overall playerbase. So what we, the forum goers, want is irrelevant. Just make a choice based on how you value the outfit.
Is it too much? Don't buy it.
Do you want it enough to justify $18? Yes? Enjoy it!
To be honest, the cash shop ensures the success of the business, and so it brings me peace of mind when I think about its survival 10 years from now, and that my character will likely still be there for me to pick up again at any time.
It's easy to criticize the prices in comparison to F2P games, but people are buying them, aren't they? Everyone knows a lot of people will buy this $18 outfit. On the other hand how many $18 outfits do you see getting sold on F2P games? The reality is that FFXIV is of a higher quality in general, and so we have people that are more or less addicted to the content, and as this is a sub game, all of those people have money.
Would I prefer it if I could get this outfit for $5? Yes. Would I find it reasonable to be that low? That depends on what you're asking is reasonable or not.
It could be worse, it could be like some certain mmos that add new glamour/clothes and only keep in the shop for 1 weekend or 2-3 months.
With FFXIV you can actually get it when you want to get it. Want to save $5 per month to get this glamour in 3 months? You can do that
In other mmos they force you to buy these glamours in a couple of weeks or you won't ever be able to buy it until they care to add it to the shop again
