Who cares about people skipping the MSQ, they do what they want, at least the power up job potion is limited to 1 by account so this will limit the amount of richnoob who want to raise all their job 60.
Read the title of this thread and this happened!! :)
I plan to raise my alts this way. First one, then if they allow more after 4.1 then the others. If only because I just dont have the time. I have one fully leveled alt but its not easy on someone with limited time.
Glad they have these officially now. Will be great for alts and getting friends caught up and whatnot. No drawback to them at all, despite the "sky is falling" crowd.
Nice for the people that decide to use them.
I don't mind that they added them, I just don't want them to neglect adjustments to older story content or exp because of it.
Finally. I already got some alts ready for the story skip potion. Not gona bother with the leveling potion since I do enjoy leveling, just not ARR's MSQ.
They said they would not be adjusting as it was to much work. It was in the thread mods locked. Because in that thread they said don't worry won't be at SB launch. If you mean funneling players back into old content because they hate the player base. I am sure some new weapon step will require you to run a dungeon for the umpoteenth time, that is fun.
I am glad they went this route instead of full blast level boosting for everything. It should be only used for catchup. I like that gathering and crafting classes are excluded and that its limited to 1 job per account.
Honestly I think I'd have an easier time convincing friends to play this game if they could skip ARR. Leveling your first job isn't really an issue because there's so many options and the story for HW has a stronger start than ARR's did imo (especially if you started out in Limsa like I did and couldn't understand a lot of the pirate speak).
First of all, thank you OP for making this thread.
I had a few concerns about the level booster items. I'll list them below
*Using a level booster, you'll be leveling a class to 60, not even KNOWING how to use your class
*Now not knowing you're class, you can hop into dungeons / trials / raids, again without knowing your class
*Bragging rights. P***ing off every other Final Fantasy player who worked day and night leveling their characters. That's a huge "f*** you" to our face from Square Enix.
There isn't, but someone IS going to brag about it and it will upset people.
What is with the assumption that new players are automatically dumb and unable to learn anything unless they grind through hundreds of story quests which offer no guidance on how to even play?
Sure when I first played aMMO over a decade ago I was young and stupid. When I joined in ARR I was far from bad from the start and picked up everything quickly.
If someone was sold on the content coming in SB then realize they have to spend a month slogging through msq to reach what was advertised, they might not stay around. Also I don't see a majority of "bad" players willing to pay double the game price for the boosts from the get go. I guess it will be more popular with veteran players coming from other games.
I don't have an issue with the jump potions and the people who complain that the jump potion users wont know how to play clearly haven't seen the frost mages, BRD/MCH who refuse to use Wanderers or gauss barrel.
people can roflstomp through POTD and have zero clue how to play a class, bads will always be bad as long as they refuse to learn or take advice and they argument is usually the same "you dont pay my sub" garbage.
the end of the day this is still a business and if SE didn't make money we wouldn't be playing XIV. And for people looking to get into SB the worst thing about the leveling process was the absurd amount of stupid MSQ quests they are travel to point B and back to A over and over and the 150+ quests to just get into HW. Quite a few friends from a previous MMO who expressed interest in trying XIV for end game stuff found out about the awful grind of MSQ and didn't bother trying XIV
Once these jump potions are in, i hope that they will sell high lvl raids full sets as well in the mogstation.
I haven't the time to get them myself, plus i find boring to train and wipe numerous times like some others cant stand the repetitive things in the MSQ. But still i want to go play right away with my already well stuffed friends. There is a too wide gap between me and them, i shouldn't be left behind because i have less stuff than them.
Plus as already said numerous times about jump potions who cares if i get all the raid stuff without doing them, play for yourself and not for being jealous that i did get the same things for some euros. Everyone can eventually get through raid content anyway, it's not like it's something to be proud of.
For those who could be worried that i will not have the experience needed to play correctly, i can always hone my skils at a later time. It is not gonna make a difference with these tanks who are unable to take the aggro back from me on some alea boss.
That being said i hope this will not be too expensive. 15 euros for a full set + all the extra items and titles from the raid it comes from seems like a good price.
I'm totally OK with jump potions. For people who legitimately want to get to Stormblood because of limited play time rather than limited skill, these are very convenient. For bads who just want to level up fast, it won't matter because they will be bad regardless of how they leveled up. And this will prevent a fraction of the bads from ever going into DF dungeons LOL.
I guess if I had a complaint it'd be they have the specialization system which locks your character's crafting capability down, and so this system sort of comes in and says "ooh look at me, I'm mr. mese-- I'm a free level on your alt so you can have all the specializations". Although the feeling really stems from the specialization system I guess and not the potions.
As said before hopefully they make some nice smoothing in system though. A lore recap video while installing the game or at least one that gives you direction, and things to give you direction in the game (normally a game unfolds itself to you, plopping you so late in the game is like being assaulted by ten thousand bouquets :3 - good luck if you're not a natural gamer lol).
OH What? I'm deaf ;(... Can you help me find out where that was? It's very likely 99% my fault since I was playing HotS while listening xD..
So I've seen these two:
And I didn't hear "DoW/DoM" only but.. did I miss that?
They said there are thirteen of them, one for each job excluding RDM and SAM.
I can't say I agree with the implementation of level boosting and story skipping, but I guess we can only wait and see how things will turn out.
So long as the boost stays restricted to outdated content, it should hopefully not harm the current content in a significant way.
Well it seems that money has won again. Now they will keep the old ARR story like it was thus making it not less annoying for those that wont buy it and who knows if this wont be mandatory in the long run.
Still not sure how someone wants to convince their friends to play a game that they did not really want to play through anyway. I mean that friend has to buy ARR, HW and SB. On top of that they have to buy the jump options for the story and the jump potion for the job. (And lets hope that they enjoy that job at 60 otherwise they either need to level the hard way or need to buy another one too if thats even possible) And if they want to play at all they have to pay the sub too. SB itself will be around 30-50€, you might get ARR+HW in a cheap bundle but its still some money and on top of that more than 30+ € to skip ahead. Do people really want that their friends have to pay around 100€ +/- to start playing the game with them? I would never go to a friend that is not willing to play through it and talk about this option..because I would feel really bad that they have to pay that to start playing it. There are a lot of other MMOs or multiplayer games out there that you can use to play with your friends.
I am kinda curious if we will see more threads about bad endgame, "same as always" and "its boring" in SB since people that will start playing the game and skip it will also reach endgame way sooner. And lets be realistic, most of them wont be able to go into extreme primals or even savage raids without at least some time learning. And they also need to gear up too. So they will probably jump over the whole old story, will also only have to level up to 70 (which might be kinda harsh too since they have no idea about the game) and the only true thing they will do after that 10 levels is grinding the two endgame dungeons for gear.
Also I do know that not everyone that buys it will be bad and we already have enough of bad players even without that. Still you suddenly get to level 60 without doing even one single dungeon or solo trial. Also on top of that those people are new to the game too so its double the confusion. I kinda remember how long it took to understand the game and its gameplay and how many hours I needed to get good at my summoner, because even while running all those dungeons, it just needs time and training to truly understand your job. And I would say that I am not dumb or slow to learn. Even after playing this game for a long time and having a DD job at 60 I still needed my time to get good as healer or playing as a melee DD. I cant imagine that someone completely new can just be good at their job within some weeks, at least not the majority of buyers.
Well in the end I will brace myself for all the new SB threads, with lots of popcorn in my bags. Oh and hope that the money from this potion will at least be used for FF14.
That does not sound much fun. x) Start the game only to grind it away till 60 in content that is not that exiting. After that, leveling 10 levels the normal way only to have to grind in endgame again. I just hope that those who chose that way wont come into the forum to complain about not having much to do after only playing for a short amount of time. I mean, I myself are a little bored right now because everything that I can still do (and that interest me at least a little) is behind a mindless grind. But I am playing this game for at least two years now and since I have friends in this game and invested quite some time in it I wont just quit but just play less till the expansion. Someone that has no long time investment might just quit forever. So I am just not sure if this will truly be the solution for all those friends that did not want to play it till now. But thankfully its not my money.
