What frustates me the most is some of you actually think lyse joined 2.0. While the real yda is 1.0.
No. Lyse/yda has alway been around since 1.0. Still the same person but hidden identity of her real name.
I would hope it's routine espionage and not another betrayal, unless it's Nero being Nero. However, some trusted figure turning their back on us would feel a bit repetitive. The Crystal Braves may not be a current event, but it's still recent enough that it would just feel like a lack of creativity on the part of the writers were it to happen again.
Maybe someone can clear this up for me. Which Yda do you meet in the start of the game in 1.0 if you picked Gridinia? Was it the same one all along?
1.0 players probably knew the real Yda. True the WoL was transported 5 years into the future, but within the time bubble of the storyline, 1 year has passed, that adds up to 6 years. The window is slim, but any legacy players might of known her.
That being said. Lets look at it from the developers standpoint. The "real" Yda was in 1.0, and probably 2.0, but given that their was very little character development, they were able to "kill" her off in favor of Lyse. So it better to say the "original" Yda was in 1.0, but the "revised" Yda, was introduced, lets say in 3.0, not because of any perticular reason, but the SB storyline might not of been finalized yet and her role might not of been completely defined.
Also for anyone in regards to the Lady in red. Was it Yda? Well it was Yda, but Yda wasn't Yda, so it wasn't Yda, it was Lyse, but Lyse was Yda, so if the Yda we knew as Yda was actually Lyse, does that mean that the Lady in red is Lyse and not Yda, even though we only know her as Yda...?
I hope that confused everyone, XD
Well, the StormBlood introduction in the scenario really feel like
"Hey! we're gonna distract you for 2 years about the main focus of the previous patches, like you know, ascians, ala mi, ... , so we introduce something with nearly no link with the current story. Happy are you not?"
Well, at least, we don't have the problem of "why the wol is so passive about events" since there is nearly to nothing happening...
Also, if SE could stop to let me have different option in the quest because whatever your answer is, it didn't affect scenario anyway.
NPC: Hey do you think that we must do that?
WOL: -yes
-> No
NPC: We are gonna do this anyway
I think HW was really good (exept that away it's a bloodbath) but the end is kinda flat...
Stop killing characters SE plz. Game of Thrones is not a good reference.
In a good note, there is no really Warrior of Darkness that we only enconter twice with no impact, and that are teased since the end of previous extension...
But in summary, it's just the common defaults of FF games in general so...
Looking forward to BloodStorm but no real hype now...
I enjoy the game, so no problem.
He Who Continues the Attack
FFFFFFFIIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNNNNNAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLYYYYYYYYYY
WWWWWWWWWWWWWWW000000000000000000000
Just a -little- excited. <_<;
So much feels!!! It was short, yes, but the battle cutscene was amazing. And Gogetsu is a trip. I can't wait for Stormblood now. I wonder who the spy for the Empire is... Also that guy at the end.... I get the feeling we KNOW him from somewhere. But maybe that's just my tin foil hat speaking.
I'm only going along with the given timeline. They never gave any implication of what time 1.X 2.X or 3.X spanned across. They could have taken weeks, months, minutes, etc...
When you play the entire main story straight through, it doesnt feel like much time is passing as you're going along. But since we wait months between each patch, the story feels like it's taking place over a long time
That was Emporer Varis zos Galvus.
Zenos yae Galvus was who we saw at the end and son of the afore mentioned Emperor, currently acting Viceroy of Ala Mhigo since the death of Gaius van Baelsar, and the current main antagonist of 4.0 StormBlood.
I want the music that plays during the Shinryu/Omega fight. I thought we'd get it as an orchestrion roll, but guess not. D:
What about the possibility of the viceroy (since they did not name said viceroy in the cutscene) could be the old yda?
Since she supposedly died fighting a bunch of imperial troops. What if that was a cover?
The blond hair kind of made me think that anyways
That would be interesting, when first I've heard of Yda having a sister I thought that her sister could've become a garlemand general under the viceroy, since yoshida mentioned that there is a part of ala mhigans that approve the garlemand rule of the region and would have seen the clash between the 2 halves of the ppl.
We now know the truth about the sisters, but what you say might be true especially since Nael's sister was able to fool everyone so there is also that precedent
Yeah no, the viceroy is a guy.
With this in mind, why in the world would Yda's older sister betray her homeland like that. From what Lyse described, she was kind and loyal to her family. Something really twisted must occur in order for her to go to the darkside like brainwashing idk.
Overall, I don't think it's possible.
Okay since there seems to be a lot of confusion about this: The Yda that featured in the 1.0 Gridania storyline was the real Yda, Lyse's sister. This is because all of the interactions with Papalymo and Yda prior to the quest "Fade to White" take place in an echo flashback set in 1562, ten years before the Calamity and fifteen years before the current story line. All of the interactions with the Archons in the starting cities take place during this time period--this is why Minfila is a child in Ul'dah's storyline, Merlwyb isn't the Admiral in Limsa's etc. This first time the player character in 1.0 would have met Lyse as Yda would have been in "Future's Perfect" (the confrontation with Gauis in Mor Dhona). Unless they are going to retcon the timing of Gridania's opening (and only Gridania's) then yes, that's the real Yda.
Ultimately it doesn't really matter much since it is only a small part of what was done with the character and like many other things from 1.0 is probably going to be shoved in a corner and ignored by the dev team. The Gridania opening is problematic anyways since it seems to contradict even what 1.0 said about the Echo when the player apparently manages to use it to change the past.
Edit:
There is a thread up about this in the Lore Forums where I'm sure Moose will provide a better breakdown than I at some point.
Honestly him being half-roe would be great, and it falls in line with SE saying they'd be adding in more half-breeds. Just look at Hilda, she uses an edited female midlander model, having Gosetsu use a modified hellsgard model isn't out of the question. Besides his nose, everything about him "screams" hellsgard. Even his skin tone is a bit "redder" that what hyurs can get. I don't think roes have access to the color either but Moenbryda had a unique color as well.
This would explain why 'Yda' had a Archon mark, despite consistently displaying a lack of understanding regarding intellectual pursuits.
Lyse?
See, I always assumed that Yda was part of a large extended family of several sisters, who frequently disowned her over her politics but still loved her and so sometimes let her back into the family. The sisters' names were Ada, Eda, Ida, Oda, Uda, and sometimes Yda.
considering most if not all CS were echo's kinda hard to say.
1.0 player did interact with minfilia as both a child and adult. You infact see her dad die.
so ya it is pretty confusing as the 1.0 timeline is off because as i stated most if not all cs were based in the echo.
Lorebook + word of god retcon
Yeah the lorebook explains "Nael" as we knew them was actually Eula the real Nael's sister who snapped and took on her brother's identity somepoint prior to 1.0. Its a retcon made as a result of the localized versions of the game to deal with some miscommunication that happened during the Seventh Umbral story's development, but it applies to all versions of the game.
Doesn't this mark the first time in the Final Fantasy series that Omega and Shinryu face each other in battle directly? Haven't seen that happen in other final fantasy games, main or side series, until today.
