But complaining about not receiving a service you pay for is not "incessant whining", its called valuing your time and money
(in before its 50 cents a day idiotic arguments that assume people pay a sub to watch Netflix or HBO 24 hours a day).
The theater manager would refund my money, because they have to face me. This is all I get with this type of service, so it is the only avenue of feedback I have available. If netflix went down for a significant percentage of their subscribers with regularity, do you think everyone mad about that was just "whining"? I literally cannot understand your economically apathetic attitude.
Have you even tried to directly contact SE? I have. Good luck with that if you try. Have you ever been hung up on for a simple complaint by a corporation of decent standing? SE reps do that with regularity, but keep defending them like you are getting paid to do it. Ya'll crazy.
Would moving it be feasible? Or even possible? It seems like 4.0 would be a perfect opportunity to make it happen.
Well if the server where on different hardware then the connection would be over saturated and the network would need to be upgraded. But if all of the worlds are on the same server in the data center then SE is stupid and needs to split up some of the worlds on the Aether data center.
I'm just commenting on you saying someone is "emotionally invested" as if its something to be ashamed of. Like we shouldn't "feel" anything when things like this happens.
and I understand that shit happens. Nothing's perfect, things go wrong, blah blah blah. It doesn't mean it isn't frustrating, and it doesn't mean I or anyone shouldn't feel frustrated.
If you don't feel anything when inconvenient and frustrating things happen to you with the things you enjoy, then kudos to you, but a person shouldn't have to be silent on a forum page that's literally meant for people to express their feelings and opinions.
I know nothing about servers and the likes. But I do know that I just got off work, and was looking forward to relaxing and playing the game, especially after having a 24 hour maintenance that I totally was ok with, but then an emergency maintenance AND a hotfix maintenance on my day off.
Its frustrating.

It could have been fishing ya, but I don't see how something we did since 2.0 is now killing the game. It's true they can't just flip the switch and put new hardware into play, and I don't really know how a transfer between world's would work, since the same amount of traffic would still be there just dispersed out. Before this patch only Bal and Gig only had issues with them being full, now the whole center is dying? I could agree that it is cross pf related, but at the same time that would mean the netcode is so weak for this function that no matter what they do aether will be getting hit left and right.
Adjusting accordingly wouldnt be needed if they would just be prepaired for this. I mean in all fairness to the player base we pay to play this game. We have a right to want better quality and preparedness.
I get frustrated all the time, i just dont vent at random people on forums, and then get mad when they arent as upset as I am and call them white knights or defenders of inhuman corporations or w/e. I was hoping to finish my relic tonight, not happening, but oh well. Theres always tomorrow.
So the datacenter is a cluster of servers connected together. Each cluster has the world servers, instance servers, lobby server and all attached to them. Now, what can happen, when you have multiple servers at capacity, is they will bog the cluster down, and can result in a crash. If the traffic from a set of servers exceeds the clusters limitations, then boom.
This is all generalization, I have no idea how SE has the servers set up, but its a good example.

others on this thread assume you yell at SQ because the posts you make seethe with hostility; mostly towards people, random strangers, that are probably having the same problems and pay the same rate, if this is the way you treat those sharing the same problems as you, those same people that you vent your anger at can only imagine how bad you are towards those that may be the cause of your stress.

Beeraga hasn't been hostile. He's upset because he's paid for play time and doesn't feel that SE is holding up to what they agreed to sell him.
There's no sense in getting into arguments over hypotheticals, or attacking each other over the same. Downtime is downtime, and it will end.

Would be nice if things get bumpy repeatedly in a short period of time if they sent some mail thing, unfortunately people might be ungrateful for whatever was gifted it it wasn't what they wanted. "I didnt want metallic snurble dye, I wanted neon black dye!!"
Not that server issues is a good thing but I imagine interfacing with people is like 90% you lose lol. Massive props to community managers who have to deal with everyone on their different days XD.
