WHM stoneskin II and virus

I would love if they made Stoneskin II on a minute or so cooldown when cast in combat.

Nobody said WHM can't mitigate damage. Why can't they?

Scholar can put out regens, so why can't WHM mitigate damage (at once)?

Where an AST can use nocturnal sect shields, the bole and collective unconscious. And a SCH can use succor, adlo + deployment tactics and sacred soil. All WHM has is stoneskin, everything else is healing in their kit.

So would it be so overpowered to allow stoneskin II to be used in combat? Maybe even give it the old enhanced stoneskin potency to make it a little better as mitigation. I've seen situations where any healer combo except double WHM would survive a mechanic. For example thordan or sephirot where their LB gauge gets just a little too high and SCH or AST shields makes the difference between a 1 shot and barely surviving.

And while we're on the topic of things WHM does the worst. Virus.

SCH has supervirus, AST has disable. WHM only has plain old virus. Maybe change virus so it has the STR and INT down naturally and make supervirus do something else, like not have the immunity maybe. This way, the same as eye for an eye, WHM gets an equally strong ability that's just slightly less usable.

Im not saying WHM is the worst or unplayable or useless, I've just noticed that this is an area where it is significantly lacking and in a double WHM setup it's the only composition where there is no way to make up for the loss.

No. In 4 man content I don't need mitigation. In raids the other healer can do that stuff. There's no reason to kill job diversity.

I wouldn't mind being able to cast it in combat, but exactly as it is, long cast time and huge MP cost included. Like so its only optimal use is right before a boss's large attack. (For those pugs where you've got two WHMS so you get some small form of mitigation.

A WHM's niche is raw healing, they have more tools for it, and it's better at it than SCH or AST. SCH's niche is damage mitigation, and AST's niche is being the jack of all trades with a smaller toolkit.

If you want to argue this you're going to have to similarly argue why SCH can get emergency tactics and Indom, as these large heals aren't needed in 4 mans and in 8 mans you would have a WHM or AST.
Not to even mention the times you get two WHMs. Two ASTs work, two SCH works, two WHM have a 60% chance to die on Sophia Ultimate...


@Averax: Their toolkit really isn't as big as you think. AST has multiple CDs for a multitude of situations, and has extra MP to keep them healing longer.
WHMs unique toolkit stops at Cure III.

I juxt died in weeping city as a tank cause I got double whm's and when hell wind reduced me to 1hp it killed me with an auto attack before any regen tics could get in and the delay on benediction stopped it saving me, wouldn't have died with an ast or sch shield.

That's not a shielding issue. That's a precast issue. Either assize or a precast cure III/medica.

Just adding on to this, if you're MTing and the WHMs didn't have the foresight to Stoneskin you prior to Hell Wind, then any AST or SCH of the same skill level most certainly would not of Aspecteed Benefic or Adlo you before hand either.

That's not a kit issue, it's a player skill issue.
