Apartment Preview

It would be nice to see the inside of the apartment, I'm guessing they'll be themed to their respective cities but are they larger than a fc private room? Also what gives with not being able to set up estate sharing with someone? Come on SE, be kind.

Yeah, if I could share my apartment and stable access with my sister I'd just do that, now we've got to try and get both of us an apartment...

I'm almost positive I'm going to see things like this in Party Finder once 3.4 hits. Since SE likes giving them ammo for these things then punishing them for using it if someone reports.

If they are that shady and mean, why shouldn't we report them?

I'm kinda wondering if I want one. I use my FC room all the time, but finally getting into the Goblet after 3 years of never being able to afford it would be a damn dream.

I don't think he was saying "don't report them" just pointing out how SE makes it so easy for them to do stuff like this, even though they punish them when caught.

I was really, reeeeeeally hoping that the preview would show us inside the apartments, not just tell us things we already knew, aside from the new numbers. I could live with a single room (that's what partitions are for, anyway) but I hope it is at least a little bigger than the FC rooms. Not holding my breath though.

For all those asking about the original 512 apartments, in the Live letter, it said 512 Apartment for Ishgard housing. And I believe they originally planned to only have 12 wards in Ishgard.

So that would have been 12 wards x 512 Apartments = 6144 Apartments.

Instead we have 90 Apartments spread acrossed the 3 cities. So that 3 Cities X 12 Wards X 2 Subdivisions X 90 Apartments = 6480 Apartments.

So there is a little over 300 extra apartment compared to the original plan.

I'm assuming they changed it to three current cities first because it is easier to implement since they don't have to create new Ishgard architecture, styling and whatnot for the apartment. They might still implement Ishgard housing in future.

Was talking about apartments in a LS i have and said think all the apartments will be gone right away (since I'm on balmung) and person disagreed with and said they don't think that will happen cause not everyone on the game is interested in housing. I guess we will find out.

OMG, please make a tour of the basic rooms! Seriously, like, right now. I still want a small beach-side house and a very specific medium plot in the Lavender Beds.


But, I guess Gridanian apartments are OK. There is just so much shade for my pale butt.

Yeah, that totally sucks. I hope they'll let us upgrade to something with a more scenic views like the Uldah markets, A view of the beach/Limsa, or the lavender beds.

If I recall the 512 was for each district, so 90 per ward is higher than the 512 announced. I could be wrong though.

Originally it was 512 per building per district, but that was months ago. Now it's only 90 per building, but one in each ward

I believe someone said it here or elsewhere already, but they may have a lower initial number in order to spread people out between the wards before gradually increasing the availability.

At least in the image they seem so small. Too bad they couldn't release a "penthouse" room with a second story loft and maybe an instanced garden. Unless the apartments are akin to a house people will forever be unhappy that they aren't allowed one. FFXI I believe has an outdoor area now for mog homes with a high fence so you can't really tell you're not among other player's rooms, they could probably pull off the same effect.

Someone posted this link in another thread, but he mentions the apartments again, and it seems they are just releasing the first 90 with 3.4. So for the biggest servers, everyone WILL be able to have an apt eventually!

"With the implementation of apartments, the personal demands for housing will be 100% met. Each ward has 1 apartment with 90 rooms, and we are ready to increase the number of rooms whenever we want. We designed it so 1 ward can have over 500 rooms per apartment, so it will definately be able to cover every player."

I would definitely like to know exactly what that means with the ability to increase the number of apartments.

Does that mean that when the first apartments are all gone (as we all know they will be on some servers on the very first day!), more will automatically open up, or will we all be waiting around for yet another patch for a few more apartments to open up?

At a guess the "we are ready to increase the number of rooms whenever we want" means they'll be able to manually adjust it. We won't know until the patch hits and apartments run out though.

I'm kind of worried about this apartment thing. I really really really want one because I can't afford an estate or the upkeep and need a stable and aquarium (cause its so cool) but based off of the number of tenants allowed in each, are there going to be enough for everyone? Or is it going to be a race to grab one when this goes live?

We won't know until patch day. I'd say if you want an apartment in a specific ward (especially the first few) then you're probably going to want to be ready in the correct zone and prepared to spam those login attempts. If they do run out, we can only hope that square is on the ball with adding more apartments quickly.

It should be the middle npc at the back of the lobby (3:45-ish https://www.twitch.tv/finalfantasyxiv/v/89793998). There's a repair npc, the house npc (you want this one) and then a shop npc behind the counter.

Was gonna agree with the above. If youre interested in an apartment, just log out in the ward /city of your choice (play it safe and go for a wierd number, by no means #1) How I got my house..and MUCH more apartments than houses lol. Headed for a cozy spot in Uldah this time around but just wish theyd get around to releasing housing in Ishgaurd already ;/
