touched a nevre? it was not about the Roegadyn race itself.. it was like "everything on the head of a gobbue" seems kind of silly.. but as a roaegadyn the most, because he is the biggest one.

and imagining that on a gobbue.. ouh well. thats not stylish at all. a lalafell wouldnt be that too
and EVEN MORE when you are standing on a gobbue besides 10 others in a circle.. besides a dragon, evil eye or what else they are thinking to implement as a common mount.

I can deal with Lalafells, I have for the past year. Maybe you can also get over the fact that goobbue will be a mount as well. Life is about dealing with things you may find uncomfortable but that someone else may enjoy. You play as a 5-year-old-lookalike, I will ride a goobbue.

well i edited my last post. maybe you should read.

and i still dont think, that a gobbue fits the role of being a mount. i ever thought in ff online "wow thats an impressive monster" isnt it? well now we will be able to ride that pokemon. although i cant see where to saddle on... it just doesnt suit the mount role for me.

and its nothing special anymore when you have 50 other people around riding on them. i have this image in my mind... a lalafell on an evil eye, the roegadyn on his gobbue, an elezen on his tiger or dragon thing.. it will have the atmosphere of "catch them all" ... or zoo feeling. kitty online.
because it just makes no sense. chocobos will get more unimportant

well at least i HAVE to live with that. because i think it will be implemented. they showed us the pictures. *sadly enough*

It's all about "me me me" isn't it? That's why they will offer diversity. I would never play as a Lalafell, but if some people like it then who am I to take that choice away from them? It's merely an aesthetical concern after all.

In my opinion goobbue is a perfect mount for a roegadyn. It is hilarious.

I entertained the idea of varied mounts until I actually saw the mock ups in the latest video and now I am completely turned off by the idea.

Varied/collectable mounts is something that has pretty much become a staple in all other MMO so I can easily see why its being brought to the table. And, if there is strong enough demand from all the other players, I'm not about to trample on everyone else's fun. But, I hope the larger mounts like gobbue and drakes are scrapped. They're a bit too large and over the top. Smaller mobs would be less intrusive, like dodos or raptors.

My main concern though is that chocobos are always the main focus. I don't feel that in a FF game that any other mount should be as good or as beneficial as a chocobo.

Rather than building a carousel out of all the exp mobs in the game, I'd look more forward into customizing my chocobos with different colors and features and skillsets as well as gear.

On a slightly different note, I wouldn't mind having an area where your only means of arriving there was via shoopuff taxi.

Unfortunately its one part of the lore that sorta has to be broken for it to work within a MMO. It's a little unfair to prevent people from having their favorite colors. Or, basically throws the entire breeding system out the window if everyone only will ever use, say, a gold chocobo. What can be done though is make it so that certain colors are natively more dispositioned for a certain task, but not enough that would prevent someone from using it over a different color. For instance, blue chocobo could have movement speed +1 over water tiles.

Personally though, I thought that having colors be purely aesthetic worked just fine in XI.

I keep seeing this argument jumping to the conclusion of having a ton of mounts cluttering up the game, or mob mounts replacing chocobos as a staple mode of transport, but it's simply not true.

Those three example mounts are things Yoshi is considering as offering for a reward for people who play before 2.0. They're a special, rare, one time deal, and they'll only get more and more rare the older they get. This isn't something that just anyone can attain, here.

We will have different colored chocobos, we will have different size and forms of Chocobos and we will have different mounts to choose besides a chocobo. A little bit for everyone.

I can't picture how a Goobbue would work with characters who have longer legs. Do we sit on them backwards so our feet don't hang down in their eyes?
I was confused about how Ahriman would work also.. But then I thought, maybe it could pull a little balloon wagon like some chocobos do. That would make more sense to me at least. XD

I don't want chocobos in place of these gifts though.. We're getting chocobos later anyways.
I can't wait to try to collect every colour chocobo. >:3 But I'll also be happy with a drake.

I was hoping someone had either a screen-shot or video of it. I didn't think Ahriman could be that big either. That actually looks kinda cool. :3 (Though if we can only have one [and if these will be finalized] I'd still choose Drake I think.)

And silly me didn't consider the chars could be cross-legged atop the Goobbue.. lol /blush

Mayhaps those particular examples were the special reward mounts hinted as a possibility for those who subscribe through 2.0, but it's been made pretty clear that Yoshi-P was keen on the idea of having varied mounts available beyond that as well. So although the giant gobbue godzilla'ing around the grounds is something only a handful of people will have post 2.0, it doesn't mean that other imaginative things will also be racing around.
It's basically that idea of anything but a chocobo as a possbility of a ridden transport kinda turns people off, especially if it will become excessive.

I agree with you. They should have stuck with chocobos and other FF mounts, such as magitech armor.

The chocobos in the FF series had land, water, and air adaptation and that has a lot of versatility. Also, chocobo breeding could be a lot of fun. Not to mention, for realzies chocobo racing... unlike what they have in FFXI. I'm talking about more like chocobo racing a la FF7.

Oh... huh. I thought colored chocobos were pretty much confirmed for the future. I guess a lot of things aren't really set in stone yet. Still, I would be surprised if chocobo breeding and colors wasn't added...

Personally I would like to see different colored chocobo's not only for the aesthetic reason but in battle. The Dev Team has already expressed plans to make Chocobo's useable in combat in the future and it would be cool to have different colors work differently in battle similar to how the different colors fought very different in Final Fantasy Tactics. That coupled with a raising system could make the Chocobo's a whole battle system unto themselves.

You know very well that everyone wants the ability to raise different color Chocobos and well as them having differences.

I loved my black/white choco from FFXI, it was bada. I also loved raising him.

I would be really happy if chocobo breeding is added with many different colours available. (But not just colours!.. Feather length, talon size, beak size, increased running speed perhaps! etc.)
I just don't want them to have abilities based on colour. I don't want to feel like I have to ride a colour I don't like to accomplish something. All abilities should be available to all colours. ^-^

Riding a gobbue now that would be fun. :p

I tried to raise my choco in FFXI. Never understood what I was supposed to do. T>T

So, what I want is: A system that would take time and is a little challenging but, isn't just frustrating and inconvenient.

Hm.. Not sure how I feel about that. I kind feel like they should shy away from implementing too many "real life" animals or elements, personally. SE should be more creative than that, the game has too many "real life" elements as it is, and not enough fantasy to keep it interesting.

I dont understand why you cant use both , colored chocos and mob mounts sounds like fun. Isn't that what this game is about?

The mob mounts look cool. Hard for me to decide on wich one I want. Colored chocobos are they way to go.. it would have been nice to personalized my choco.
