Enuo never actually appeared in the flesh in the original title of FFV, but he was referenced many times. It was mentioned several times that Exdeath's desire to control the void stemmed from Enuo's successful mastery over it 1,000 years prior to the events of the game. It was also mentioned that the weapons kept in the sealed shrine were remnants of the battle waged between the heroes of that time period against Enuo himself, left there after his defeat.
So he never actually appeared in the earlier versions, but he was definitely in the history and lore of the game.
EDIT: From FFWiki: "Enuo (エヌオー, Enuō?) is an unseen character in Final Fantasy V, who appears as a non-playable character and superboss in Final Fantasy V Advance, and the Android and iOS releases." Unseen (but mentioned) in V, superboss in V Advance.
More than that, Yda and Y'shtola mentioned they actually rode on it to infiltrate Castrum Centri as part of the mission to rescue Minfilia from Imperial custody. Also part of Castrum Meridanium features the Phantom Train's Depot, but again the actual train itself is never seen, although judging by the gauge (distance between the rails), it's huge (not to mention uncomfortable, judging by Yda saying "no one would be caught dead in it!"
The Order of the Twin Adder also successful blockaded it during Operation Archon to stop Castrum Centri from using it to send reinforcements to Castrum Meridanium - presumably they just blocked the track with rubble, enough to ensure that train wasn't going anywhere. ;)
It should be noted that the 'phantom' in it's name is not to be taken literally in that it's not a real 'ghost train' inso much as it's a secret railway run by the Garleans (aka, the military term 'ghost' to refer to anything that is clandistine and secretive). But I digress.
Ah, I see, thanks for that info - it's been ages since I last played FFV (and that was the PS1 release of the SNES version), so I couldn't remember it exactly. Thank you again. :)
Not sure why, but I kind of miss these guys. I think the default name is poultergeist:

They always hung around those spires in XI or spire inspired fortresses. Though I'd wonder if it's a lore thing.
I hated their attack noise they made, especially when you where fresh from valkurm dunes, trying to get to Qufim Isle and these guys where chasing you going "EH EH" in a weird voice through the caves..
But keeping it ffxi themed here I'd love to see a comeback for the infamous Absolute Virtue, seeing as they made Kirin (well the Manticore )and especially Adamantoise here a joke. I mean he's like a level 17 normal mob here.
AV practically unbeatable along with pandemonium warden.

Wow looking at this http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/L...asy_XI_enemies
I didn't know the Flan's in XIV were model recycled from XI.
The more you know, just like I didn't know Quarns last boss was a generic enemy in XII, I'm still pretty new to XI, seeing all these familiar enemies I've seen in XIV gets me giddy!
Does anyone know if this guy is in XIV? He looks really neat, kinda reminds me of Ravana but I forgot if he's the 1st boss in The Fractal Continuum just with a new colour palette.

@Bracken speaking of making things a joke
Reminds me of Dreadnoughts, in XIII they were bosses, but now they're just generic enemies that go down easily :P
edit: Woah, even Belladonna was from XI!
Came across these in my travels in FFXI.
These look like enemies that'd fit in nicely with the void ark stuff

Hope they import these guys they look pretty neato.
VII had a ton of just really... strange enemies, Christopher and Gighee being the least of them. Some other notable ones that I could see joining the bestiary are:
http://vignette3.wikia.nocookie.net/...ophies_FF7.png
Acrophies. Could be used in a watery environment.
http://vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/...edgehogpie.png
Hedgehog Pie (one of the more memorable enemies, I think). Really... just place it anywhere.
http://vignette1.wikia.nocookie.net/...illbin_FF7.png
Killbin/Rubik's Cube. This weird thing is memorable and would make for an awesome boss.
http://vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/...issors_FF7.png
Scissors (which is actually two enemies that split apart at low HP). Another mob with great boss potential.
http://vignette4.wikia.nocookie.net/...Police_FF7.png
Vargid Police, one of the creepiest things in the game. Perhaps mutated Allagan or (worse) Garlean soldiers?
http://vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/...nknown_FF7.png
http://vignette1.wikia.nocookie.net/...nown_2_FF7.png
http://vignette3.wikia.nocookie.net/...nown_3_FF7.png
Unknown 1, 2, and 3. These horrifying lovelies would fit right into an Allagan or Mhachi area.
http://vignette3.wikia.nocookie.net/...ng_Artwork.jpg
Yin[g] and Yan[g]. Oh jeez... these two are more creepy mutants, and probably the most devastating uncommon encounter in FFVII for when you find them. Another amazing possible boss.
http://vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/...arry_armor.png
Carry Armor. Anyone who has played FFVII knows why this would be a horrible boss. But it would be interesting to see how it would work in an MMORPG.
I want the Train boss to appear. For this boss, I also want a special event during the fight that lets Monks suplex the boss. >:C
I wanna see Weeping Angels.
What about a quest to save Nym from Ozma involving the friendly monsters from IX?
Kefka from FFVI. The warring triad is already present in the story, so it wouldn't be too hard to get Kefka involved.
I also firmly believe that every paladin should at some point be required to face their duplicate in dark Knight form. ;)

Boss or Generic enemy (like it is in Mobius) Pleasee, he'd easily fit in with Dragon themed Allagan stuff.
I would like to see something like that by exemple :
