Antitower was great, except for the generic boss music..
Hate it.. can't understand why they would put a gear level requirement on the main quest dungeons high enough that it requires non MQ stuff to have been done. I can't progress because my gear level is only at 147.yet more hoops to jump thru.
Trying to get onto the server aside... This patch has been great so far, nice little QOL improvements as well from what i have seen.
Also in regards to gear, getting geared up to like 180 is so easy it's not even funny...
SE did it right with The Antitower & Lost City, as far as I'm concerned. The boss mechanics aren't cheap and are forgiving enough to let us figure them out.
Tank adjustments were sorely needed and I thank the devs for bringing the role back to where it was intended.
So far, the storyline is proving me right in thinking 3.1 was setting us up for something good.
Everything's fantastic. I actually have to worry about healing for once this expansion, instead of being a support dps (for now anyway, that's likely to change when i get my 240 gear).
Sephirot is my new favorite fight.
The only thing that makes me mildly sour is that my Accuracy seems to be all jacked up. So in those rare moments when i can do some damage with maybe a quick holy or gravity, it misses half the targets.
I like it.
I've been enjoying 3.2 a lot.
Both new dungeons were beautiful, Hildy was hilarious (wish it was more than 2 quests though :( ), and the main story is one of the better patch ones I'd say.
Gnath quests are off to an amusing start, I didn't think I'd like them as much as the Vanu but I was pleasantly surprised.
Not a huge fan of the Sepirot phase 2 theme but the fight was a lot of fun.
I haven't tried Midas yet but I've heard great things about it too.
A8 boss is completely awesome even the theme music.
That is of course if you're into that thing, like me when I was a kid. Fighting him feels like the 80s again.
I only got in the first one yesterday, but there is a mechanic that anyone who doesn't do it dies, rather than if you don't do it, everyone else dies. I like that, I forces everyone to do it rather than on dps ignoring and wiping the team. Only they die, it's beautiful.
So. Now that I've had my morning coffee and see my thread pop up, time to give a synopsis of what I could do yesterday.
1) Did all of the MSQ. To me, they've redeemed themselves with this compared to 3.1. While not absolutely mindblowing storymaking, it was still fairly entertaining and you knew that twist at the end was going to probably happen because things are waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too lovey dovey. Either way, well done.
2) Collected rolls for my music box for the FC; got 9. Easy enough and it's nice of them to actually tell you where you can get the rolls. Currently scouring for one before I logged off for the night with one off of getting the first achievement.
3) Tank changes are noticeable in the damage aspect. Antitower, the first run I did, took a long time with the DPS I had. Felt like the chunk of DPS I did contribute made runs go faster. Sure as heck made my WHM wife bored though with the 20k plus health I got. She was rather surprised that entering a new dungeon we had no idea about, she was able to DPS easily enough and keep me up.
4) Antitower itself was interesting, but I felt it was a bit linear. Felt maybe that they could have added a bit more winds and turns. It was kinda straight forward. Boss fights were neat and not too hard, once you figured out the tricks for it. No wipes, first clear, moved on.
Otherwise, I just mostly took care of the MSQ. Tonight's docket will most likely be a VA run so I can get a Gobdrip to upgrade my weapon to 210 and help out a bit more with the DPS. Then, Hildy time!
...and the wait continues.
Went into Sephirot and Midas 1 and 2 blind with most of my static and really enjoyed figuring out mechanics by trial and error. These fights are more fun and interesting.
I'm not done with the MSQ yet but so far the story is gripping. Although I feel like Ameyric is being way more flirtatious than usual and it's kind of weird.
I still need to run Lost City of Amdapor HM and start Hildebrand.
I do have one very small, tiny gripe. That Enkidu does not interact with the new minion, seeing as the fight basically involves it chasing frogs around the arena. Otherwise did Seph yesterday and with all newbies (or if not all, some polite people not spoiling it) only took 2 wipes on first phase and 2 wipes on 2nd phase before it clicked for everyone and cleared it. Anti-tower while amazing, I felt more could have been done. Did the Lost City Hardmode and I can't for the life of me figure out how to do spoilers here and not finding any help lol.
I'll just say feels like we may have to come back to this dungeon at a later point, perhaps beyond SE to do that though?
Haven't gone through too much of it, as yet. But did check out The Antitower. Loved the super creepy final boss, and also appreciated the fact that it was the first boss where I actually had to worry about being interrupted in Wanderer's Minuet on my Bard. However the dungeon itself is the most completely linear dungeon imaginable.
I'm failing to see how I can get my dragoon's gear up to the level requirement easily. Being at only L147 it keeps me out of where players usually go to farm eso plus the normal gear that would get me over the requirement cost far more gil than I have. The only options I've come up with so far is to grindfest the Aetherochemical Research Facility for all the eso I need. I'm hoping someone can steer me into an easier, less time consuming path. SE sure isn't helping any of us with all these mainenances either
Get your job to 60 and work on hunts in ishgard, use the rewards from hunts to buy 210 gear, its a good start, hunts take about a few minutes each tops.
After that you can go in to a few dungeons/fights for higher level gear. It should only take a few days depending what you go for
Literally every fight I've done in the new patch has been so fun... the solo MSQ instances, the two dungeons, all but the last floor of Midas (though I hear good things there), Sephirot HM... it's been a blast.
Even had to do A7 twice, for a total of two hours, since I didn't get a drop the first time, and even though people still don't seem to know what "keep Shanoa away from her owner" means, I still had fun. And I've been asking people to take me with them in their Sephi runs since I really like the fight.
Good/10 would play again- wait I already have, haha.
I would say this patch is such a huge improvement over 3.1. Two new dungeons, new trial and new raid! Forget all that LoV stuff and whatnot, and give playable content for largest section of players. Plus the MSQ and Hildy. Good stuff. Also, this makes it so we have more than two dungeons in the roulette for level 60. Anything to break that up is a welcomed change. I also like the new dungeons, as since we will have to grind them for gear, I can see them being very "speed run" friendly as gear increases. Well done.
I agree, the PvP gear is quite lackluster, along with the Lore gear weapons. The only impressive weapon is the monk fists, the others are really meh. Also, the PvP tank gear isn't so bad if you ignore the creepy angelic alien head bursting out of your chest, but yeah... kinda cool lol.
Containment Bay was definitely an interesting fight reminded e of titan lol.
