I hate the fact that we don't know which houses are going up, but also like it at the same time.
I still have nightmares from archeage cause they posted when a plot was going up and 50 billion people camped it.

I'm not sure why the date and time are so mysterious a secret to guard. Pretty much can't pick a worse day and it was presumably chosen for this exact reason. The question is, why?

As someone said, demolition time is likely different for each server. Balmung has crashed a few times and we even had a rollback recently, so I've no idea how that affects the situation. It's possibly set to a server uptime that's fixed, but every maintenance since 3.1 will delay that. We just ... don't know. I already have a house, but I honestly can't think how this could have been handled worse. It's terrible.

Community teams are on holiday now though, so don't expect anything to change. :/

Yeah but like you said each sever different so just cause someone thinks be 25hr extra with all the maintenance since 3.1 doesn't mean same for each cold be 25hr for my world but someone else who crash or was down for some reason could be 26-28hr or more

The most probably is because neither SE knows it, if that is implemented a timer per plot, so if the server down time not counts so that is not full maintenance time, its mostly just a brief time from each maintenance because mostly servers are just down while upgrading, but them up while admins does their tests, so that time will vary per server and mostly per plot.

I can't really see it turning out well if Squeenix was to actually announce when each house was up for demolition. I'd be afraid of gold farmers using their black magic to buy up all of the properties to resell for 100m each. Actually, I'd be afraid of any entrepreneur using his alt/mules to start an in game real-estate company. Plus, the pseudo-rng involved now can help discourage campers.

That being said, I've been camping since the servers came back up; and, christ, this is annoying.

At least I don't have to deal with the in-laws yet.

also, for those following along at home, there have been 8 total maintenances and 26 hours, 10 minutes of reported maintenance (that's taking into account last nights, the ones that ended early, and the one that ended late)

Yes, Balmung had a rollback. Two friends and I were in the process of doing Dragonskin maps. I opened the chest for mine and lotted a bluebird minion, then the server died immediately as it dropped. When we got back in I was at the Falcon's Nest aetheryte, which is where I'd been ~15 mins before that incident, with an unopened map in my inventory, none of the chest drops and minus the seals from an A-rank we'd killed just before. When we re-did the map, no bluebird dropped...of course.

Was this just before a maintenance or something? Because nobody I've talked to has experienced anything like this recently.

I would never open a map so close to maintenance for any reason. So no, it wasn't that. It happened less than a month ago: Lodestone link.

On topic, we don't really know what they did this morning in maintenance. Here are the cryptic notes:

- Fixed issues regarding automatic estate demolition.
* As of this time, no estates have been automatically demolished. As such, this fix is simply a preventative measure.

But i didn't see any other houses open. So i guess someone demolished it on his own...

Balmung went around 10 minutes ago. Only three small plots in my ward demolished and everything else disappeared within around ... 35 seconds? Already I see someone in PF trying to sell a freshy-claimed Mist plot in PF. Honestly have no words except, that makes me feel so sad.
