Hi all.
Me and my friend are having the same problems on the Fabul server. Game is unplayable right now, because of RO spikes and lag.
Server: Fabul
Country: Netherlands.
Lag spikes on lindblum seem to be starting early tonight >_>. Its not terrible yet but I think it's probably going to get there.
Funny, I had bad lag and it was unplayable last weekend. Log in today about 6PM CST and it is completely unplayable. No issue during the week.
I don't have the R0. My S/R are around 50. Ping is about 170 which is really good from Central US to Japan. My trace slows down a lot when it hits the SE routers. Chat hangs in the middle of typing. If I use the mouse to spin the camera, it will hang. This is every 10 seconds or so and last for 2 seconds. if i just move the mouse around, there is no lag. Any command input other than hardware mouse and the game will lag on it.
It is annoying right now just to send chat messages.
R0 while pickin up leves then error 30002 reared its face. http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1...ffxiv30002.gif

This was happening when i was pwlving a friend of mine. It was very unusual tho this had something special going on. I was with two friends. Friend A saw friend B standing around doing absolutely nothing. Friend B saw friend C standing around doing nothing. But Friend C saw everyone normaly. Everyone was fighting btw. Its just the ones that appeared to be stuck in place had there weapon out and they were stuck that way. In addition we noticed that we could no longer communicate via LS/party/tells. It was as if the entire server was going out of sync and no longer was sending data from one client to another.
And heres the cherry on top, you guys are going to love this. Check out this screen shot.

Can you see whats wrong with this picture? This was my friend that was stuck in place but was going all around with us and fighting. I just couldn't see her, because on my client she was stuck at that very spot, for like thirty mins until all three of us logged completely out. Also if you didn't figure out the real kicker out of that pic. Shes on MRD but the weapons she has out is her PGL. So more or less the server stopped sending all data. well not all. If she was fighting with us you'd see her swinging wildly in the air right there where she stands. But if she put her weapons away, or got on choco, non of that occurred, she just stood there battle ready.
As soon as I log in now it just sits at R0, seems it doesn't matter what time for me, its early on a Saturday morning the now and I logged in to my character KO'd at R0... Awesome!
And to put more into it, it takes me about 30mintues to log in, I need to wait for the Log in screen to load, then the play button to load.
When I try logging in to SE site, takes ages to connect also, this is also the case for the Lodestone.
Come on SE let us know whats happening, if we can't play your game! We want to know why its just a selected amount of us that can't!
Can we please get a Dev response? ; ;
Well another night of dropped packets. I just sent some negative feedback to SE about this matter and I encourage everyone else to do the same. Here is the link for the feedback page. https://support.na.square-enix.com/f...a=1&p=0&fo=288
Wow im glad im not the only one experiencing this. Getting very annoying ; ;
*sigh* another weekend, another batch of rolling R0s at the start of prime time. Honestly, if this persists anymore I really have no desire to keep playing. Hopefully their server restructure can help this server load packet loss (assuming that's what it is).
Getting hit hard too Arliman, right on schedule ~7 pacificish. I wish there was a way to find out how many players were logged in right now because I feel like the server load is what's causing us to lag specifically at this time.
Updated my original post tonight:

SE really needs to get on the ball in fixing this. It may only be affecting a small portion of people, but this just can't be ignored.
I can't even play this game at night, every night I am constantly R0'ing while being perfectly fine during the day. I have cox cable isp, I can log on other online games and have no issue, I even logged on FFXI and not once did i R0.
We need some sort of response here, far too big of an issue imo.
I rarely post on these forums, but I have been around since closed beta for FF14. I can honestly say I need to add my name to this list. Ever since patch 1.19a, all I have gotten is r0. It doesn't matter where I am. Its to the point where I am unable to do any events, any quests, any kind of lvling at all. While I know things happen, this is just complete BS. I know its not my connection, did all the recommended adjustments SE has listed for troubleshooting, no results. I watch Netflix like a crackhead when I'm not gaming, and at peak times in the evening to nite hours I watch everything in HD. Had issues a while back and my cable modem took a dump and needed to be replaced...
If things keep going, I'm just going to have to take a break till patch 1.20 comes out and see if they fix this issue. Unfortunately I can't play this game the way it is.

O yeah, I'm also on Cox Communications. :/
Ugh, notice that the majority of us here have the same ISP. T_T Question is, is there anything we can do on our end as users to improve the situation?
I really don't know what we can do at this point. It'd be nice if we got some kind of response from SE. I doubt contacting Cox, or the other ISPs that have popped up in this thread, would do any good. Sense its the only thing we are having trouble with they will likely say its not on their end. Because, what will they do, ping the modem, maybe even send someone out to your home even tho that isn't even where the problem is. Sense this is the only game that is experiencing a problem they will say its SEs problem.
Oh also I can confirm a significant issue with r0 tonight. It was tolerable/playable the last 4 nights or so. But it is back with a vengeance tonight. Takes me about 5x as long to complete crafting leves, if i can complete them at all without failing cause i was sitting there mid-craft doing nothing for 4 minutes. I'm certain they will find the problem on the servers and correct it. It's just how long will it take, it would be nice to have a time table on this problem, so we aren't setting here hoping it is going to be ok night after night, and then get that sinking feeling at 9pm CST when it starts doing the r0.
I will say that I'm slightly suspecting something with Cox.. I just did a ping to google.com 100 ping test, and i got several ms over 120ms... sigh I truely hate problems such as this.
on cox here. never had r0ing trouble til 1.19 came out. just tried to do a mining leve @ iron lake. 10 minutes @ 1 node. please fix this soon. i can't play during peak time at all.
I'm truely starting to suspect our isp. I know it may do little good, but everyone should try calling them, and report a significant slowdown at nighttime on the connection. Id suggest probably not even mentioning the game, and simply let them know you've done pings to google or some other site, and are getting 120ms and such. sigh.. That may be playable for all other games we play, without us noticing much, but when you go across seas, that translates into some pretty bad connection.
Yeah, it seems to be between cox and SE somewhere, my connection is fine but when I connect to them it starts getting a little weird somewhere out west before it jumps over to japan.
Just wanted to pipe in here and say that I'm experiencing the same intermittent R0s and my ISP is Mediacom, not Cox. Tonight they are so bad, that I can't even sign on for a couple minutes. I played 1.19 fine, but 1.19a started my frequent disconnects. I'm having a Mediacom tech guy investigate the issue. ISP people have already been to my house and couldn't find a problem. Nothing I've tried has made a different. Disabling every type of antivirus, antispyware, forwarding all ports, making myself the DMZ host...nothing worked. Pretty sure this is now an SE-compatibility issue.
I don't understand how it can be an ISP Issue if we are on different ISP's I am with Pipex and I never had this problem until 1.19a... Like the rest of you.
Its something that has went wrong with SE it has to be, it can't be our ISP's if we all suffer after patch 1.19a was implemented.
I am also with Pipex and i also get this problem. Often i will log on with R:0 right from the get go. It will stay R:0 often for several minutes at a time (1-30!) before getting around 5-10 seconds of recive, then back to R:0 for another lengthy duration.
The wierd this is even though it is constantly R:0 i can chat with linkshell memebrs and friends in /tell fine in real-time.
I know it is not my connection becuase chatting with friends on skype at same time with no connection issues, and I can log onto FFXI with no issues. the only thing that seems to have this error is FFXIV.
All ports to FFXIV are allowed, gone through all their troubleshoot help guides etc and none of it works.
I tried using command prompt to ping the servers during my R:0 and apparently there is a 0% packet loss, so I have no idea what is going on.
SE need to at least acknowledge that this problem exists and are at least looking into it. With 0 replys from SE it just makes it seem as though they are completely ignoring this problem.
Well I don't know much about the other ISPs that have been mentioned, but are they possibly owned by cox, or maybe they are using cox network to provide service? IDK, but when the connection got real bad last night i did a "ping -n 100 google.com" a few times. I noted that i was getting over 100ms ping to just google.com. I've remained pretty set on it being all SEs fault, which it may be somehow, somewhere. But right now, if im having problems with google at the same time, then that points the finger elsewhere. idk how many of you have done a ping test to google, when things get really bad on XIV, but I'd suggest you do. I would really like to synchronize efforts to test ping and such with others at night, but I'm not really sure how to go about it. I'm really concerned because it seems like all of us are all around the nation, and not in the same spot.. If its that big of a problem, then its going to be very difficult to fix no doubt. It could have some very worrisome implications for the network in the states.
me and friends are experiencing the same. Even though we are sharing one connection, one will d/c while others are fine.
For cox here's a forum where you will see similar complaints about the cox connection. You'll see numerous threads about slowdowns etc. http://www.dslreports.com/forum/coxhsi
I'm beginning to gather some info that would point that cox has done a massive overall in how they do routing. But atm I don't have any good thread to point to you guys. Its just from reading so many of them, that's what it is starting to sound like.
I was doing pings to Google during the time I was having issues as you suggested Drako and I was getting 30ms response times, so I don't think that's the problem.
how many ping requests did it do? I had done a 100 requests at a time, and while half the time i got normal pings, other times I got pings over 100ms.. If you just do a standard ping, it will only ping 4 times and not get a big enough sample.
Hai Guysies!
I've had Cox out 4 times now, and have been on the phone to them numerous times, even have a field supervisor and technicians direct number, (that's how much I've called). As I've previously mentioned, they've found nothing their side of things, the last technician told me to ping cox.net when I am experiencing R0 and if the results are fine, then it's nothing they can do, so I ping quite often now, even with the hugest lag spikes lasting 4 mins I ping cox.net at 30ms, so I really don't know what do anymore.
I do know I have a LS mate that's been experiencing similar issues to me, not quite as bad, that has a different ISP.
Friday and Saturday night were surprisingly OK for me, didn't R0 much at all, Sunday night was awful, I had to log off, started at 10:00pm EST like clockwork again, couldn't farm tapers anymore as I kept getting stuck at gates not opening for me and coming out of spikes dead!
and....still no response from the devs I see, do you think we could get one sometime this week?
and please don't tell me to restart my modem and router ;p
I really would like to synchronize a ping test with peeps at probably 8:00pm PST - 10:00pm CST tonight. Then screenshot and post the results here. I think I'm going to have everyone post all there info again. Like which network card is in there comp, OS, location, ISP. ETC. First I'd like to get a idea of who all can participate.
As I've said earlier Pia its nothing to do with you, or your equipment, its outside. :p
My ping tests are always a minimum of 100 times. If you look at my separate post with my traceroutes and ping results I was doing 1000 pings as a test.
One thing I'm curious of is other people's traceroutes. I want to know if the ISPs such as Mediacom and Pipex are going through a Cox router to get to Asianetcom. Someone made a good point that Cox could be leasing bandwidth to these providers (it's a common thing) and if they have to hit a Cox router to go from the USA to Japan, we can't rule out that the ISP isn't totally at fault.
I'll update I contacted cox, and they claimed to get some kind of P3 errors when talking to my modem. So i may be like Pia and have some other problem with my modem. But i suspect once they are done fixing it i will be like her and still have issues. This could explain why my ping doesnt match up to your results Orophin. Altho I still would like to make this test if i can get enough people to join me tonight. To see what results there are at which location with which ISP all at the same time.
I'll run a 1000 ping test to Google tonight when the R0s start kicking in in-game and post results with my hardware specs again.
Something else I'm going to try...I'm going to make a character on one of the lowest populated servers and see if I have the same problem. I know Lindblum, Selbina and Figaro are all highly populated servers and these are all servers people are having issues on. While it doesn't make sense to me that the same people are having the same problem every night, it could at least narrow down the problem a bit.
I'll do the ping test tonight as Drako suggested.
I would like to tell you that I have Cox ISP. I just upgraded to 50Mbps download speed (Their Ultimate package) and still have periodic nightly R0 since 1.19. I know for a fact that Cox has been changing their network because they nor throttle upload connections from 13Mbps approximate actual connection down to 5Mbps.
I am actually getting about 62Mbps download speeds using their own test.
It definitely be a network issue somewhere on the internet, but it seems that its just server load issues to me. It is really to bad that they didn't give us the /sea all option so we could see how many people are online on our servers.
@Zoltan, I'm interested in seeing your results from your ping test. Could you keep us updated if you are still receiving intermittent R0's throughout prime hours?
I'm curious with your case because the next step I was going to take was to upgrade my internet speed to see if it would help alleviate the R0 issues... However, if you've got a 50 mbps connection and it's still R0'ing then I might as well not bother with the upgrade.
I don't know what's more disgusting, the fact that there has been NO rep response, or the fact that they're wanting to start charging us within the next few weeks. I fortunately, am not having this issue, but a good friend of mine is, and because of this is unable to play with me. I have been reading this forum thread for the past several days and am absolutely appalled at the apathy displayed by the representatives of this forum. I had high hopes that in the new game, S-E would be able to repair their terrible customer service image from FFXI, but apparently this isn't so. Having her account hacked in ffxi, my girlfriend had to wait six (6) MONTHS to get her account returned to her, and this is after calling once a week to harass them regarding the issue.
If S-E really wants to start charging us for this game, which i really do enjoy, they really need to step up their game. They shouldn't rely on their player base to fix their problems. That is a terrible customer service model.
edit: sorry for the double post, hit enter accidentally and prematurely posted.
Ya I wouldnt do that Blue not unless you got many other benefits to look at. This game should be able to function fine. I know a guy that plays this on dial-up and has less problems then we do, on the same server.... Plus think of how upset your going to be when you do upgrade, and you still have the problems?
Drako, I can help test with you tonight, send me a /tell in game when you're ready :D.
Wow nice your on my server Pia!! lol awesome :B
i am having these same problems and i have only been getting them since 1.19
