I do hope they have a better design for male mage gear this time around. The last two sets haven't really hit the spot. Silia's had that chest-helm thing and Demon had the opposite problem.

Raid gear seems to follow this pattern in looks.

First coil ehhh too much brown.
CT1 looks good.
2nd coil Looks awesome.
CT2 boss gear looks awful.
3rd coil looks ok step down from 2nd coil.
CT3 This looks awesome.

Now we have Alexander and the gear looks awful so odds are from the raid gear pattern in 2.xx Void ark gear will look good.

I'm ok with robes. I just didn't like the design of the last two. I mean, if you're going to give a man a breastplate that small, you might as well give him two and call it a day.

Going to call this now about the lore side of the "Void Ark"

"Void Ark" AKA "Lunar Whale" that some people were calling it, isnt Allagan at all but instead originates from the ancient city-state Mhach that was introduced in the 3.0 SCH storyline and was widely feared in the 5th Astral Era for its ability to conjure fiends of the void. This was the city-state that laid low the Nymians with the green death that changed them to tonberries and also the Amdapori with conjuring Diabolos. And since we have. No knowledge of what happened to them in history perhaps the Ark was created by them as a tool of summoning a dark entity or containing them as preservation from the cataclysmic events that consumed the other city-states of the time. Mhach was known and feared for its conjuring of beast creatures from the void.

If you guys haven't seen it already and are interested in the lore, I'd recommend Ethys' video on it. Very interesting and does give some very plausible theories, along with @Lilith's, which does sound very interesting too.

ya that is a pretty interesting video, I would think that perhaps when Xande became twisted to call upon the Cloud of Darkness, due to the Allagan's ability with technology leaned on the city State of Mhach to assist with opening this dimension and this lead to a merging of their knowledge which produced the Void Ark as a contingency plan to preserve their studies, perhaps even a precursor to the island of Azys Lla.

however it hinges on whether or not Mhach was around during the 3rd Astral Era given that 3.0 SCH quest places it in the 5th Astral Era with Nym. Or if it is a branching of the AllagEmpire, currently we have no idea of what the technological prowess of Mhach.

I really hope it is this though, since I feel it would finally start opening up some Eorzea Universe to this game and make it greater then it's current meta, as opposed to making super linear storylines that lack depth. Allagans are cool and all but come on Yosheep it can't be always Allagans and Ascians!

Fernehalwes posted on the lore forum that it's Mhachi, one of the civilizations from the 5th Astral Era. The Void Ark came into being well after the Allagan Empire crumbled to the earthquake and infighting.
