Adding Legacy Tattoo to Mog Station

hehehe. I read the title of this thread, and immediately pictured a firefighter tackling the OP with a flame blanket. Maybe the GI Joe guy from Fenslerfilms.

As someone who really hates that seasonal outfits don't remain free in-game each year, and as someone who loves that a gobbue variant is still in the game for non-1.0 players, even I don't think the advertised perks for being a legacy player should be made available to non-1.0 players.

The legacy stuff was clearly advertised as a perk for players who specifically stuck with a subscription during 1.0. The game was horrible back then, and while I personally view players with 1.0 tattoos as scary crazy people for playing the game in that state, I respect that we wouldn't have 2.0 if they hadn't been handing over money.

As a 1.0 player, I have great memories of the game at the time, despite it's inherent weaknesses. When I started playing 2.0 I vaguely remembered about having a tattoo available, but never actually used it until I read up and asked people about it, as it had to be activated with a command.

There are definitely things I missed out on getting on back 1.0 - I never completed the story past Dzameal Darkhold, I never got the Chocobo suit, I never got Raven Earrings. I also didn't get to see the BSM job cutscene where the Siren's origins come from. As far as I know, I was considered a 'new' player in 2.0 since NPCs didn't recognise me.

The tattoo is simply a nice bonus for sticking with the game since beta (for me anyway.) As some people would say, server populations were relatively low from the panning of 1.0, and I remember many people simply logging in and checking a new update and then getting back to something else.

I continue to support SE beyond paying for my sub. I have dumped money in the Mog-Station and through official merchandise. I like purchasing things, but paying for a tattoo to gain something for sticking to a game for 3 years in a bad state... - you can't really put a price on the time (and frustration) investment. So, while I'm all up for other decals, the 1.0 tattoo should stay for those who played the game during that period. Other tattoos would be nice though.

I wouldn't be opposed to it though I doubt it'll ever happen. A shame, really - perfectionists are all too easily screwed over since there's stuff that they can now never obtain now matter how much effort they put into the game.

I don't mind a tattoo system though, like some NPC that can tattoo different tattoos on your body but that legacy tattoo should be exclusive to 1.0 characters only.

The same reason why content has to be nerfed on a regular basis. People want their shinies, they want it now and can't stand if someone else (rightfully) has one while they don't. :)

I agree that more tattoo options should be in the cash shop. However, this has to remain exclusive to the 1.0 players. Where is the "legacy" if you never were there?

I'm not a Legacy player, but I don't see people explicitly showing off their cool ass tattoos just for being a "special snowflake".

If 1.0 was anywhere as bad as I heard it to be, can't we just let those people have those cool, yet insignificant, small perks for being there?

strangely it doesn't bother me that the OP is asking to get something that is supposed to be unique to everyone that stayed with 1.0
what actually bothers me is people asking for more stuff to be added to the cash shop.
you people realize this is a subscription based game? stop supporting greedy developers.
i somehow feel that 10 years from now, basic subscriptions will only allow me to log in anymore, and i need to pay for extra services like level caps/dungeon entrances, new skills etc.
atleast i don't feel like paying more $ each month for a game then i pay for my car/bike insurance.

Well technically that's all that subscription fees for MMOs have ever entitled you to anyway. You're just renting access to the server. Anything else is pure romanticism dreamt up by the user. No where in the ToS or EULA of any game does it say the company is required to provide you content in exchange for your fee. They only have to provide you access. It's of course an unspoken agreement that those servers will have content on them, because no one is going to play or pay for a game that loads you into a white box, but the subscription fee has never guaranteed anything besides your ability to log in*.

* And it barely does even that since most end-user agreements say the company can take a game offline whenever they want, for however long they want, for whatever reason they want. And they of course also retain the right to terminate your account "just because" no matter how much you pay, but I digress because this is getting off topic.

This. I am a 1.0 player myself. When ARR came out i started over on an EU server because I'm from europe and my 1.0 char was on an US server and I experienced quite some lag because of it. But this meant I lost all my 1.0 goodies :( I'd love for these rewards to be account wide :(

It's a thank you to us players, that supported the game from 1.0 > 2.0

So no it shouldn't be handed out in the cash shop. That's just a giant slap in the face to us legacy players.

I'm one of those players that had never even heard of FF14 until about 6 months ago. What?! They made an MMO?! Final Fantasy is the best. Its the whole reason I STARTED playing MMO's (also the reason I had this un-suppressible nature to point and shout Thundaga during Storms ;_;). If I had known about it from launch I would have been there like any other supporter. The game just never made contact to me.

Do I think I deserve access to a Legacy Tattoo?

Do I think players that Legacy tattoos on old character should be made account wide?

It amazes me how many people in this thread still think the Legacy mark required you to do more than make a character. You want it exclusive that's all well and good. But you never had to support 1.0 to get that tattoo. You just had to make your character and then log out. You didn't even have to actually start playing. I'm not really on either side, I just see a lot of whining over a tattoo you can't really see anyway. But I am against misinformation. Legacy Status =/= Legacy tattoo. Spending 5 seconds to make a character, log out, and never play again = Legacy Tattoo. It has nothing to do with supporting square in tough times.

Wasn't there a requirement that you had to have atleast 3 months of payed subscription for the Legacy status? Think I recall reading about it somewhere.

In the end when the game shuts down for good all this argument about glorified pixels will be for nothing.

Well as someone who played the 1.0 alpha, beta, open beta and the free trial for 1.0, I even have the 1.0 collectors edition of which I paid full price for. I realised it sucked and never paid a days subscription. Because of this I never got any legacy stuff but still get the tattoo on a level 20 character on Durandal that I have never used. Personally I did a lot of supporting of this game before it even was released I just never paid (although I paid with my wasted time on 1.0)

I don't think it's that exclusive anymore, it's only a tattoo, chocobo and gobbue so why is it such a big deal? It's not like they are taking away your cheaper monthly payments or 1.0 titles. Let people buy them if they want. It doesn't hurt anybody and nobody cares if you have it or not.

Yes that is true for the legacy status but the tattoo itself was not a part of the legacy campaign it was something that EVERY character created in 1.0 received.

Ah ok. I thought it came with the Legacy Status.

I don't get the appeal of it. It's not like there's Legacy players lording the tattoos over people, near every piece of gear and two-handed weapon hides it, as does long hair. Further, it's not a reward from some long lost 1.0 quest, unless you call playing 1.0 a quest (some would more call it a journey of deliverance...). I don't care about Square rereleasing 1.0 quest rewards, they were quests that everyone in 1.0 had access to even if only for a time. But the tattoo was a gift directly from Square for having been cool people, being patient and understanding of their situation at the time. You had to be there for it, just like the earrings from the primal challenges at the cons last year. Noone's whining about missing out on the earrings whose visibility is much more obvious, what's so special about the tattoo?

Legacy 1.0 or Meteor Survivor tattoo will be never in the cash shop.

If you want a tattoo, ask for a wing designed tattoo for every character created between 3.0 and 4.0 (or for every character who finished the 3.x story before 4.0 start)

Not sure if the people always asking for legacy stuff or the people who respond with haughty overwrought "1.0 players are the saviors of XIV" paragraphs are worse.

I'm confused as to why so many Legacy players talk about the 1.0 Legacy items as "Rewards for suffering through 1.0". I'm a Legacy player who had a sub for all of 1.0 and I was even part of the Alpha\Beta.

Here's something that might shock a few people ... I actually enjoyed my 1.0 experience... a lot

There is no arguing that 1.0 wasn't the best game in the world, but for me it was an amazing and unique experience. I guess it comes down to the friends you had in 1.0. The friends who were with me in 1.0 were passionate and dedicated. The Legacy items we collected in 1.0 are not rewards for suffering, but mementos of a different time. They are reminders of our dedication and hard work.

I really don't care if they sell the 1.0 items on the Mog Station.

This topic needs to crawl into the bung hole it came from, as in go away.

I mentioned it in the other topic last time this got brought up, my computer at the time was a popoto so I didn't have a chance to play 1.0. That being said, I say no. Go ahead and release smaller items like they did with the Star-spangled Subligar or the Moonlet, but not the tattoo or the Legacy Chocobo. Those need to stay exclusive. Yeah, it sucks that I'll never have 'em, but such is life.

You already do that it a called a expansion pack which you have to pay for.

If you wanted the tattoo, then you should have supported SE during 1.0. Exclusives for being loyal should remain exclusive otherwise it diminishes the point of rewarding loyalty.

However, other tattoo types should be added to the game, not the cash shop, I think. Less things in the cash shop in general. This is a subscription game, cash shops are for free to play games.
