Well you can always pray for AF3 to be based on a different Ninja character from FF series. Like Edge from FF4.

AF2 is based on Shadow from FF6 and it even has is signature side horn on the head gear.

SCH's boldy/legs/feet make sense, but those gloves look like some kind of zany contraption "aethercell gloves" sounds like a crazy mad scientist invention to boost aether potency or something. The hat looks like a vaudeville or carpetbagger hat from the 1800's. I would have preferred if SCH's AF2 looked more like a Doctoral gown seeing as AF1 and Myth gear looks like a Bachelor/Master robe with mortarboard. A perfect example would be FFXI's Savant set (for those that don't know, pretty much all the AF2 in FFXIV were named after FFXI's AF3 or "Empyrean" gear, including Scholar's 'Savant' set. FFXI's savant set was like a lab-coat looking doctoral gown and a doctoral bonnet(PhD's get bonnet whereas bachelors and masters get mortarboards).

DRG's looks cool but I don't like the tail. I also think it looks like a little too power rangersish...it's very spandexy looking.

They said they based MCH's abilities and style off of Mustadio from Final Fantasy Tactics, so I was hopeful their AF would pay homage to him...but they dropped the ball. AF looks more like Balthier which is FINE because everyone loves Balthier, but still would have preferred Mustadio because he's the OG.

In fairness, it'd be harder to make something closer to Mustadio's gear since he's basically wearing open overalls with a yellow shirt underneath (I'm guessing it'd give the model design team a headache in trying to figure out how to make that work). The leg sleeve/drape on the MCH body looks tacky to me, but then again I've never liked that sort of element when used in character designs.

My problem with it is more...do we really need 50 generic looking ninja outfits?
Course the same could be said for caster gear, it's all robes.

I'm so tired of these generic ninja suits.

My biggest problem with it is the side skirt and open chested shirt. Lace it up a bit and move all the skirt things into a utility belt type look and I think it'd be better.

I'm bummed female MCH gear seems changed from the artwork -- I think they have pants now, and not the skirt and thighboots? Not sure though, but I liked the artwork better :/

there are so many other job AF's where you can look under your miquotes' skirt^^ :D

Biased but I love the summoner gear. White mage and dark knight are awesome, too. I'm not crazy about the monk or scholar sets, though.

Best: SCH (looks more unique than the rest, plus I like the hat and robo fists) and DRK (you look like you are gonna go full on Judge Dread on some trash)
Worst: NIN (generic ninja, lame) and SMN (why is there a diaper instead of actual pants?)

Most of it looks pretty good, with some just being less impressive than others.

Yeah, this is so annoying... Instead of giving female MCH a miniskirt like the artwork shows, they gave it generic boring pants. They also gave it a weird black undershirt because heaven forbid if there's some female cleavage showing in a teen rated game. And instead of giving male SMN actual pants or shorts they gave it a diaper. I wish they didn't pander to all the "equality" whiners and instead gave a thought to what does and doesn't look good on each gender. -____-

Bassically, yes. Although it's more accurate to sat it's like an INCREDIBLY small waist towel (even shorter than the female Miqo'te's starter miniskirt!) that barely covers what it needs to. I'm actually surprised (yet incredibly grateful) we don't see something poking out...

Actually, the design of the hat's pattern is accurate. I know because I make period clothing and costumes for theaters. What ISN'T accurate is the decoration on the front. Metal was rarely used to decorate hats because of issues with weight and availability of materials, as well the fact that metal decorations could stain or damage the hat.

Favorite: SCH and BRD. SCH's AF2 the kind of outfit I've always loved. I doubt I will change appearance unless a non-Steampunk outfit is released. BRD's AF2 actually allows me to dress like "The Spoony Bard" himself - 'nuff said.

Honorable Mention: SMN - If the male version of the outfit's leg piece was long or a pair of tights, this would have bee my favorite set of AF2 gear.

Worst: NIN - Despite it being based on a Final Fantasy character's signature outfit, the fact that it's Based on Shadow and not Edge hurts it for me as
1) DRG, BRD, MNK, and possibly PLD draw from the IV series instead of VI. (SMN's AF2 looks like Rydia's outfit and Tera's outfit got together and had offspring, SCH and WAR are unique - I think - and BLM and WHM are (in my perspective) the generic Black Mage and White Mage NPCs from VI)
2) It seems we're working out of Ishgard for the moment, Shadow's black outfit sticks out like a sore thumb in the snow. Edge's white outfit would serve as better camouflage.

Best - SMN, especially on guys <3

The robe is what bugged me the most. The other parts I can totally dig.

Best: WHM (it's quite elegant and classy excluding the head piece) and SMN.
Worst: Not really worst but BRD, WAR and BLM just isn't memorable to me. Also, AST dress just looks... strange for males, with any piece.

Best: BRD I need this outfit RIGHT NOW

What I've been wondering ever since the theme with the picture above downloaded to my PS4 is- what's the Mi'Quote eating, nachos? Pizza? The SCH outfit has what looks like a medical device on the back, wonder where the tube goes...

I honestly like the SCH one, though it would have been better suited to MCH, (and I'm not just saying that because I'm a MCH). I knew what the MCH gear would be for a while now, and I'm still no more fond of it. It's just bland in my opinion, especially when you compare how stylized the other classes' gear is. NIN definitely has the best over all, though I am a bit jealous of BRD's weapon......

Short Answer:

Best: NIN, second SCH.

Worst: MCH, (Too bland), second SMN, (I get the look and all, I'm just not personally a fan).

Best: DRK
Worst: Ninja - no real innovation, just a plain ninja suit and the esoteric swords>? wow ninja got the shortest draw on that one! r.i.p. ninja 3.0..

Best - SMN
Worst - Definitely SCH.

Best: SMN, closely followed by WHM
Worst: MCH, no question. Following that...BLM. Shoulders absolutely destroy it and the hat is stupid.

I'm legit going to try out SMN now just because the AF is utter perfection.

Is there any clear picture of all the AF2? The patchnote one look too small on some character.

The same reason they dislike NIN. It just doesn't offer anything unique or "new" to the job. It's another red and white bed sheet designed for female characters (males look frighteningly awful in it).

Does anyone have any screenshots of the AST and WHM chest armor on male characters? I wonder what it looks like as I ever only have seen it on female characters?

I don't really have a worst choice. While I think the Goetia hat is a bit overblown and silly, the rest is quite nice and other outfits follow a similar trend. I like some pieces, but not all.
