remove GC restrictions and add an adeventure system that puts players pn random teams.
This thread gets a whole-hearted /signed from me.
All of the GC restrictions need to go the way of the dinosaurs. You shouldn't be forcibly split from friends because of your GC, and you shouldn't lose access to the glamours and gear you worked so hard to obtain (*cough*hunt gear*cough*) just because you want to change GCs. In this case, I don't give a crap about lore. Gameplay/story segregation is a healthy thing when it comes to quality of life in a game.
Agreed, pvp never been that popular after all and this is just making everything even worse. People just don't bother anymore just cause of the ridiculous queues due to GC restrictions.
Signed.
The fact it is even there still, after all of the negative feedback it has received, shows clear as day that they don't give a damn about feedback from the PvP community.
It only serves to make queuing take way longer, the story reason is garbage and makes zero sense, and with that in mind, no amount of story can justify having it when it's actively ruining the queues. Do YOU understand, SE, it does NOTHING but stop matches from happening often, and DISCOURAGES people from playing or trying the PvP.
SE, please stop crippling PVP needlessly & harming the social aspect so badly.
Signed even if i do not PvP. I just might if i could queue up to frontlines with my FC/LS mates (i can't ask them to change the GC they like, and i am not gonna leave Twin adders). This GC restriction is beyond stupid.
+1
Also, next time, less robes please.
I sign this one for myself and three of my family members. We all love the PvP (suck at it but its fun) but taking an hour long or more queue is re-donkulous. I would love to see it be removed even if its just for a week to test it. see how it goes. People are there, we all want to play but segregation is soo 1200's.
How much do you wanna bet this goes without a dev reply even if it reaches 40+ pages.

I miss being able to pvp and waiting an hour or more just to get into a match. It made ranking up painful. I'm stuck at rank 23 all because of the que times and not wanting to wait an hour or more.
Please square make it so everyone solo ques for pvp and they get a random grand company
Signed! Yes please,
I would PvP more often if the ques were not so terrible.
I was quite the PvPer on the last MMO I played and I would love if I can get more PvP here too because I love the game, and I enjoy FFXIV PvP too; just not the ques.
Signed! Yes please.
Devs please listen to your playbase, unlike pve players we don't require endless content we just require a few modes and an actual way to fight. GC is killing what you have made
Lore should never be a restriction to PvP/PvP balance in the first place.

I will sign this only because of the fact that the GC with the highest win rate is where -everyone- ends up going, and queue times vastly increase for 2 reasons.
1. There are 10 times the amount of players for that GC. If you happen to be with them, you will be waiting longer. And..
2. Because many people have left a GC, there will be no one left to queue for them. This happens a LOT with the Adders on my data center. We're more often than not waiting on them to have people.
I live to PVP but I don't in FFXIV because what the GC restrictions have made of the queue time.
Fix this one thing and you fix your PVP content.

I don't even know why they keep doing this. Pardon my saltyness but jesus christ this was brought so many fucking times everywhere. The development team is bragging about how much they listen to the community yet they still created a PVP mode with GC company functionning, like what the heck? PVP has certainly balance problems but it remains fun for a lot of players and many just like me aren't playing it because we can't bear to wait at least 30m to find a game. I can't play with my friend because they aren't in the same GC and I don't want to change mine and my friend neither.
They said they planned a lot of things in 3.0 for PVP but I don't even know SE thought they should get rid of their system instead of working on anything else. Ranking and everything is fun but what's the point if we can't play it?
Huge complaint since prior to Frontlines' release way back when... persistent complaint since... escalated, overwhelming complaint now.
When will you side with your fan-base on this one, SE? Please...
Signed just because I want the change, not getting my hopes up though. :c
They've given us something great and then ruined it with the worst possible possible decisions for a PVP game mode...
- Long and completely unnecessary real world waiting, to do something in a virtual environment. I could travel across town and play a game of tennis faster than I could get into a Frontline match.
- Being locked into the same pool of teammates and competitors for the long term, which means players can expect very similar results match after match... and with 3 parties in your Alliance, the ability to influence the overall outcome is limited. It's great when your GC has other strong players joining the match, it's hell on earth when they're terrible because you're going to be stuck with them again and again. It's because of this people get demoralized and stop playing, leading to increasingly bad queue times.
- The one thing that would balance things under the current system- the ability to change GC's- has a 15 day lockout, and even worse you start over at 0 and lose access to all your PVP rewards, can't even glamour your previously equipped PVP gear. So the more expert the players are, the bigger the penalty for changing GC, increasing the polarization that exists on each server where one GC becomes dominant and players in the rest have to accept much higher chance of losing unless they forfeit everything to swap. How about if people had to relevel their jobs from 1-60 to queue into Alexander Savage with a different group of players unless they're willing to stick with the same one that just can't clear?
SE, we resent this.
Edit- I can't underscore enough the opportunity that is being squandered here... we finally have a game mode we can play as soon as enough players are willing because there isn't a preset role restriction. Adding the GC restriction is a major unnecessary gate to letting people be able to simply play the game.
End the restrictions.
I like pvp, currently at max rank with over 600 frontlines and over 500 wolves dens. I do not agree with removing the GC restriction. I like my team spirit, fighting for the Flame and Flames only. I do not want restrictions.
A 15-20 minute queue is not going to kill you.
I am in support of this change or one similar to it. I am of the belief that story should NEVER be more important than gameplay in a video game. It is, of course, appreciated when it has both, but I have many methods at my disposal to consume story: books, movies, t.v., etc, but video games should be first and foremost interactive. If queue times are prohibitive to playing it then action should be taken to alleviate them. In this case it is a fairly simple decision, to me, to leave GCs in as they are but remove the GC restrictions to queuing for PvP. I understand that it is there to form camaraderie with your fellow GC members, but it doesn't and it won't so long as nobody wants to play it due to queue times or other prohibitive features.
Also, the gear looks stupid from the specific GC and it would be appreciated if CASTERS COULD GET NON-ROBE GEAR TO WEAR!!!!
Signed. This has gone on for too long. It needs to be addressed.
People who think it's not a problem probably come from the GC with the best queue times on their data center. With my GC however, even several months ago when Slaughter was pretty active, those of us in my Adders LS realized it was pointless to queue up as a group and have a hope of getting into a match. Can't tell you how much time was wasted waiting an hour with a full party, or close to that, on a match that never started and with an unknown continued wait time. 5 min? 50? Who the hell knows? And eventually someone has to go and that unqueues the whole party. 8 people sitting in queue a full hour (adds up to a full workday between everybody) unable to do other things that could progress their character and unable to risk content on another class where it's so easy to fail a commencement due to aggro locking you from a class change because the ability to do that via teleport was taken out good job there. Sprint from a fate and pick up aggro after aggro.
*bump* I can't let this topic go past page 1 :/
I'd cheerfully gove pvp a go in this game IF I COULD PARTY UP WITH MY FRIENDS! But noooo we're all in diff GCs. So, since the venue for the pvp is in Cartenau Flats which is the whole issue. MOVE it to a place that has nothing to do with any GC. Mordhona or one of the HW zones.
Super signed.
Even simpler than that, they could just explain it as all being a training exercise(FFXI did something like this.) You're just getting defeated, not killed, when your character falls to the ground. And with an easy explanation like that, PvP without a GC is easily doable. The training exercises are done to keep combat skills sharp. The current lore explanation already feels contrived anyway, so what does it matter?
Signed, but it would also be nice if we could get away from the whole node nonsense in the current pvp arenas. Upcoming King of the Hill/Domination type is fine... Slaughter was less about killing people and more about timers and node spawns...
I'm not going to read through 12 pages to see where we're at, but I hope the sentiment is to remove GC restrictions. The queue times will be ok the first few days of PvP after this weeks update, but the second one of the 3 GCs starts getting a win advantage (causing people to transfer over) or if PvP starts getting stale, then the queue times will be impossibly long just like right before 3.0.
TLDR: Remove GC restrictions, solves queue times and GC imbalance.
I've read the 12 pages worth of posts and...it is. Only a few have spoken in defense of the GC restriction, where as the rest speak out against it.
I even see some here that I vaguely recall having defended the GC restriction in earlier threads. People are just getting tired of this useless restriction.
Surely the GC stuff can be client side or whatever, no idea on the technical aspect of it's got to be possible for me to see Immortal Flames flags while the guy next to me on my team sees Maelstrom flags.
If they don't want to do that because it might be weird if people spoke to each other in character (that seems a peculiar consideration but stranger things have happened) just making it so ticking 'queue in progress' switches GC allegiance off. A sort of 'I don't care about lore I just want in' button.
