You are correct, the story is starting to make absolute no sense XD We fight this guy then we do story and its like we just met him and everythings different, ah well im not to much into story, it was very typical and boring to begin with!

I thought they were collapsing the story abit to add more to the end and leave the cap at 50 so maybe Ifrit might become a L30 cutscene now
They might lower the story rank requirements and add in acouple more
I just have to say what a GREAT idea on releasing a trailer for this fight. I think people who see this trailer (especially FF11 people, or people who quit) will give this game another go. It was a very good idea to show that they were losing the battle, because it shows that it's not just another easy quest. I also highly agree with the delay for the update, even if they used those couple extra days to rest lol. Huge Kudos on the idea of a trailer :)
nice to see more easy mode for the casuals, joking.
Finally, a fight that looks possible to lose!
It also lowers magic potency I think. Also, the minor def boost the thm gets, with their already low def, why bother nerfing heals/nukes?
EDIT: http://ffxiv.gamerescape.com/wiki/Defender
Lowers M Pot. Double edged sword. Ah well, maybe it's worth it in that fight.
Time to bring down ifrit! I been waiting to kick is butt after the comments in the main mission quest!
7 X Archer 1 Conj should take care of ifrit np :P fight looks epic!
he looks to have roughly 10,000-11,000HP. I wish we still had BR's so we could do Light Shot for 9k in the last slot and finish the fight in 60 seconds...
TL;DR looks fun but it's srsly cutting into Dark Souls progression :/
Geez, that video finally looks like a battle you'd expect to see in an MMO...
Finaly a more complex and dynamic fight (similiar to wow, rift etc)...
Everything looks awesome.. But the only thing that kill the game atm is the latency... Look at devs how much they lag...
I have to say as an Final Fantasy Fan since i was 8,(25 now) this is the best looking Summon fight in Final fantasy ever, I have to say you can not find an summon fight in any other Final fantasy game and see him doing something this awesome in the actual fight.
Most of the Time in Final Fantasy the Summon usual just comes out in some dramatic way then just stands there for the duration of the battle standing with its arms folded(Bahamut), for the first time i can say i can really feel how strong ifrit is or any other summon if they continue it this way. Hopefully they add carbuncle and make him look awesome lol.(He is my favorite)
So... How long will it be to see the first picture or video on Ifrit been defeated ?
October 5th
Who cares how fast someone else beats it?
If the rest of the update is as...awesome... as that video looks to be, then I think I just fell in love with SE again. =x
(Also, anyone else notice the 1 second cooldown for Light Shot on that Archer? *hope*)
Its just to see how hard the fight will be...
Ifrit will be cleared a couple hours into patch day. Just like DH was. /thread
That's a pretty crappy way of indicating difficulty.
AMAZING !
Looks great! Just watched it again.
I'm quite sure he's going to leave some parties laying on the dirt a few times before people figure him out. And maybe after - all that moving around can be really tough. Sometimes you just have to miss re-targeting the mob one time for the fight to get out of control...
I really hope the cs's are something that can be done at the leisure of the player. would hate to have to rush through them and miss out on story elements.
Nope still two seconds and change.Quote:

the only sad thing is the latency =(
Now that is what I call Ifrit.
in before LF members Ifrit fight, need con, thm, arc @1 send /tell!
To bad he will be super easy at rank 30 WHICH breaks the story line and everything!~
Just gotta say.... THANK GOD this fight will FORCE people to actually move and think regardless of class! While darkhold did require this even for archers and mages, people took the lazy route (Not really the easy one though LoL people are horrid when it comes to the ogre fight, melee spam is laughably easy! Never gets a special off if you have a non dim witted team that can work together!!!).
So I'm glad these people will finally have to adapt! Guarenteed "soaking damage" like most people do now unnecessarily will cause sooo many wipes and deaths. Just as a side note... now that we got stat revisions and materia, looks like our hp and mp will skyrocket (among other things which has always been a obvious outcome)! All those horrid on mages atm that are no good with mp management (It really is still a joke atm for those that know how to play half effectively!) will hopefully simmer down a bit now that they have alot more mp to burn with. It'll make those of us that found management laughable right now though make us feel really overpowered and things alot easier (or rather TOO easy imo).
So hoping people will finally get their act together in terms of skill and community^^ The fight itself though looks awesome! Yoshi's love for dramatic flare (No pun intended *^.^*) is always nice to see :)
This is a portion of the potential the game has. Lets continue to hope they use all of it.
I haven't actually seen a lot of those Garlean Empire figures but they look so kick ass!
What? The normal Totorak bosses arent easy at rank 30, why would the Ifrit battle be. And if anything it will either be something where the other story missions leading to that point have the required levels dropped... OR it'll be a special level 30 arena battle seperate from a level 50 story boss battle.
