Even if you agree with Azury they will still argue with you just because.

i think the point zenaku was trying to make and still stands, SE is hardly broke tho.
oh i wasn't arguing they were. I was saying if they didn't think about profit when they made games they -would- go broke eventually. Like if they spent 100 million making a new kingdom hearts so it would be the most epic game ever, they'd go bankrupt because they could never sell 100mil of it.
Corporations are about profit.... simple as that.
the topic go from "single mmorpg" to "prove that SE is not going bankrupt"....gj
note: the one create this thread is trying to hard to prove him/herself is right and heading toward the wrong part to get the thread close
To much work and it will only confuse people. They need to focus on what this game is an MMO and making it a good one. It's to late to add something like that.
SE should try to follow what Sega's Phantasy Star universe did,Single player mode & Multiplayer mode, but that would take lots of time, look at 1.19..we're not going to have the patch until october...and that's only a patch.
bro get the hell out of here with this bull.... Japan is noting like NA company that are greedy like hell. Look at blizzard it's a dam PC game and FFXI look 10x better then that and wow still have bugs sense release and if you play longer then 2week and talk to people they go "Yes i know i hate that bug too but blizzard only care about money"
not saying SE does not care about money but you wont see blizzard allowing us to play f2p to they fix something they just keep you playing/paying to they end up fixing it. so please get out of here you just trolling and no one really like you you better of playing the game then worrying wtf SE is doing.
Don't see much point in releasing a single player expansion pack for an online game, it just sort of... defeats the purpose of it being online in the first place.
Also imagine the strain on the servers from having to run hundreds of instanced areas as well as dungeons and the open world itself.
They have many more important things to worry about than this nonsense.
If you want to play a single-player FF game, there are 12 others to choose from.
I was playing the game, making stuff for a new LS member and trying to catch up with my leves... can't wait till 1.19, then I won't have to rush to get them done before resets XD
Eh, Azury usually makes arguements that go against everything the game stands for -
Azury's earlier thread: Teleporting ruins immersion, despite it being part of the games storyline, oh and I use and abuse it every chance I get even though I hate it.
So chances are she's just made another arguement that goes against something in the game, in this case that fact that it's an online multiplayer, in hopes of causing another thread that'll drag on for endless pages with lots of people shouting at each other.
Scary thing is it may actually work.
Oh an Eekiki, don't forget the spin-offs like Tactics, Dissidia, Crystal Chronicles, sequals like dirge Of Cerberus, X-2, and soon XIII-2, and the anime too. In total there's probably more than 30 Final Fantasy games out there.
All I can say is... you're an idiot.
I like how you make these awesome assumptions like "gain 800K players overnight", "will make the game LAST!", and my favorite "make an entirely new game (recreate everything put new story, cs's, etc..) inside of FFXIV but market it not as FFXIV!"
Seriously are you that dense, I mean honestly this is the most insane thing I've read on the forums and I'm convinced this is a massive troll attempt.
don't agree with any of it, but i will say. when the game comes out, and expansions come out. they should release and launch them with all of the story missions at once. i am sick of se with ffxi putting them out slowly. i payed for the game, or the expansion i should technically treat it like a offline game and pummel threw all of it if i want and be done with. i quit ffxi b4 seeing the very last set of wotg missions ...they took to long to come out and i didn't want to wait anymore with there slow content release. after 5years of playing it got to me. they should seriously consider making the missions a package that is all at once. just like the city 10missions, and zilart was all out by time na got them.
other then that ...i say they should layer mmo's ..multiple player types on same servers so we still full server but solo players playing and have seperate ah. and party play ..an even hardcore/grind/challenge what have you. or completly diff servers.
but the idea of op is a no way and thank you.
probably the worst idea ever
no .
Has anyone pointed out that FFXIV already IS a single-player mode game if you want it to be?
Just don't talk to, buy anything from, or party with anyone.
*Facepalm* ... That is all! ... *sigh*
it make that way to counter casual player being left out. Look back at mmorpg from year 2000, in every guild/clan or outside, the ppl who playless than 5h/days always being left out of the fun. With the new fix for guildlevel, it will support the idea of the game being a "casual friendly and those who cant play more than 3h/day". In other words you have the choose of how you want to play in this game depend on your mood more or less
I'd rather they make a single-player FFXI sequel/prequel/spinoff first. (PS VITA maybe?)
@ OP ... .worst .... idea ... in final fantasy history... worse then FFX-2 the barbie dress up fantasy... worse then FFXIII's LACK of RPG style play being a total fricken linear game... worse then putting Abysessa into FFXI allowing you to get 30-75 in 12hours and 75-90 in another 7hours lol... please don't ever become a game designer for MMO's :p that's the nicest way i could formulate my thoughts on this thread.
its not entirely failing as much as its in the progress of becoming amazing. there's a lot of mmo content in here still.. i've spent countless hours already doing most of it but theres still plenty to do. 24camps 64nodes, 19jobs, 33,850,890 SP roughly maybe a few sp off, 60side quests, 52 class quests, 11story line missions, 32NM's, 680+ achievements, 42 faction leve's etc etc :D it's getting better every update. if you actually like the game there's a lot of fun to be had in a good linkshell still.
P.S. can i have a dislike button now SE ... k thanks :p
*puts on bullet proof vest*
I see your point.... but i dont think 14 will ever do this.
a good idea "maybe" is to make leveling up solo a 1 player "kinda of" game.
like 1-50 is almost just like an offline console final fantasy game
All the big dungeon parts of the story could be instance dungeons where you que up party members (players) who do their roles.
The option to group up is always available but cutscenes will never show your party members
players who have already completed story mode and are helping others with it receive AP as a reward (See below for what AP is )
further you proceed in the storyline, more areas are unlocked, cities, dungeons, etc
at level 50 have an good "end game" part of the story which is where all the end game features are like sky sea limbus etc etc....
this idea would only work if you leveled one character up tho..since the story wouldn't be repeatable.
idea to fix that:
1. Bring back physical levels
2. No such thing as class level
3. Armory level stays intact based on weapon
4. Learn abilities from gear like in FFT and FF9, requiring Ability Points (AP) earned from doing dungeons.
5. All equipment would require specific classes to equip them.
I know this will never ever happen...but could be a fun idea for future final fantasy
Actually the idea of a game within the game is sort of interesting, but my image of that is something more like content for a small dedicated party rather than solo play. Something along the lines of a quest that once a group begins they are forced to follow it to its conclusion before they can go back to accessing other game areas.
I don't think its really a marketable idea though. Story quests in MMOs work the way they do for a reason. Having a more immersive story would be nice, and I don't really agree that MMO can't pull this off because they are multiplayer, and the player can't be the hero of the story because every other player has to be worked in somehow. If you strip the story/quest element out of the game then all you are left with is grinding a job, craft, or relic item to a predefined cap which begs the question why bother in the first place?
Ok, I agree with this part, but from a stockholder point of view only. I don't see this as a failure from a player point of view. I am playing for free and I am enjoying every second of it. Everything SE has done since I started playing has been an improvement to the original state the game was in when I joined.
With this said, it is heading in the right direction, but changes take time. I am patient because i know it could end up as a great game. If it doesn't, what did i lose? Nothing.
I don't agree with your point on making this a single player. It sort of contradicts your post I am referencing here because a single player game would only bring profit at purchase. You finish the game, people move on. This is planned for 5+ years, where it would normally bring 10 times more.
SE is on the right path in my opinion.
its already single player
i'm really surprised everyone is so against this.
All this would do is turn a very long solo-grind -that already exists- into a solo story-mode. Put another way, all it would do is make the very boring solo grind into something fun to do.
But I guess people who play this game don't like stories and would rather mindlessly grind on the same few mobs for days.......
And honestly maybe its the players who are holding this game back then. Because the most successful and most demanded upcoming MMOs out there are heavily quest and lore base (WoW, SW: TOR, etc)
Maybe SE's "unique" thing will be that its a 1 button mashing grind fest. I just never realized there were that many people who enjoyed that o_o
WoW has never been an MMO that concentrates strongly on story. The story IS there, but you ask most of the player-base in WoW what the story is about and they'll reply: "Who gives a ****?!" and honestly, if you played through it you'd seriously wonder where the story is, all you will experience is: *quest, go kill 10 orc* *quest complete* *quest, go kill 10 goblins* *quest complete* *quest, go collect 10 flowers* *quest complete* and so on and so on. WoW is with quest grinding as FFXIV is with leve grinding. It's all the same thing, just with a different wrapper.
Though yes SW: TOR is apparently going to be heavy story-based, but we'll wait and see.
But wait a second, hold on! Didn't I just spend 6 hours the other day playing through the La Noscea storyline with Ren along with all the side-quests, and going all the way up to rank 16 Archery with it? Yes I do believe I did! And did I feel like it was a grind? No I don't think it was because there were so many cut-scenes and things thrown around that I barely even noticed when a side-quest told me to 'go kill x amount of crabs'.
Also, as an example of 'single-player- in an mmo, look at Age of Conan. Tortage(1-20) had a single player element and this whole experience was lauded as the best part of the game. Why wouldn't it work here? Seems like a valid point to me. For some reason people seem think if you play a MMORPG you must be grouped up at all times.
I mean, the loner hero is never ever a type of character used in a story, mirite?
I don't understand you all. Personally, I think this is a pretty good idea. I like it. I think it would be a refreshing and interesting thing to try for, at the least. I mean, its not like the idea is a giant pile of sand that you all are forced to keep sliding your vaginas around in, which seems to be all that you all are making it out to be. And even if it was, you don't HAVE to get in the sandbox.
Anyway, I pushed the like button for this idea. True, I don't play the game much, and I'm a pretty low level, but still, as a "casual" player, which most people are, I found this idea intriguing. Go for it!! :D
or instead of wasting time on something like this, perhaps just go play one of the 20+ other FF titles available across a wide assortment of platforms that are already single player?
Tell me, whats casual about this?
you must use 3 times to level than the current system = 3 months time for casual player to get to 50. Is that casual to you?
Don't even know why pepole still talk in this topic... dont say its something its the opposite off.
making a singleplayer version would inbalance the multiplayer part of the MASSIVE MULTIPLAYER ONLINE, meaning you must use the same time single player in that part as you would here when choosing not to go duo. Meaning you dont need to add anything. Meaning you love the game as it is and it is completely perfect for your needs.
Where gonna quote, but im tired of this.
Azurymber, you are dumb.

I'm not sure I understand. Three months is quite a while. For someone that might play a few hours over the course of a few days, 3 months may not be enough time to get to level 50.
What I see is an update that you might even could take offline. Download the "expansion" and you can sit down and play it, without having to go craft a million things or search for a party or any other hassle. Once you're done, you can take your new and shiny level 50~ or so class back online, and actually be able to participate in big things as well.
I don't see how its such a bad thing, honestly. /shrugs
I'd play it.
