Thoughts on level 60 scholar ability?

You and some others are all assuming you have a competent WHM in your party whom will do this which is not always the case. Wouldn't mitigating like this help save the WHMs Mana pool though? I guess a single Medica II/Cure III doesn't make much of a difference but every little bit counts right?

try retesting this with piety gear (which increases max MP) and you will see a difference in the amount of mp restored... its usually most noticeable when lvling cause you get a larger amount of increased MP but there is a difference when you increase your piety (and therefor MP).
edit: both riot blade and siphon blade Regen about 9-10% of your mp on use.

Big picture and lazy cropping so posting it like that. Still, I can't believe I even went through this much effort. You will see me EDing a dummy with different PIE values at level 60 and the MP returns being the same.

I've said multiple times it can be useful for dps either in opener or at burn phase. I'll add transition to that as well. You'll excuse me if I'm not thrilled that the best use for my lvl 60 job ability supposed to be "emergency healing cd" is for dps...

The point is that if you need to be putting out healing it's not a good ability.

Well If Ramuh actually mattered anymore I'd say the Aetherflow stacks could help. lol

I've only used it a couple of times but - its mostly sparingly.

I don't play much Scholar, so my logic is most likely faulty in the eyes of much experienced Scholars :

Why would you use Deployment Tactics (DT) on something that is 100% survivable like Primal's Limit Breaks?
If it was up to me, I'll use DT for mechanics that may cause deaths such as Bishmarck's Lightning, Ravana's 4 Swords + Cross Fire mechanic etc etc.
Sure, if everybody performs the mechanic perfectly, your DT is probably wasted, but IF somebody stood too near each other... or the water balls have been killed, or 2 ppl clipping each other with Ravana's AoE, or that fella that stood in fire and is ticking for 3k damage with AoE coming soon.... You may have just saved their lives, and saved the healers from expanding MP to ress them up.

This 100x over. For an ability that's suppose to supplement healing, it's only real use at current is to push SCH's DPS.

Losing your faery for healing reduces your healing output drastically, even if you pop all your faery abilities before hand. At I'll 183, Ed is only returning 800-900 per use and is unaffected by CS. That's not a whole lot of MP in times where you might need to use ET with a low MP pool and no aetherflow stacks.

I find it really helps to carry your dps in Bismark. q.q


Fire Dragon killers, Throw Adlo on a War/somebody, spread it with Deployment Tactics, Burn all/2 aetherflows on whale
Indom/selene's Fey Wind then dissipate while sitting on top of Aetherflow cooled down.

The three extra stacks let me dps under the effect of fey wind, with the option of shooting off Lustrates to tanks that need them. Bam 30 secs are up and my fairy is swift summoned back, all stacks are used, and aetherflow brings my mp/stacks right back up.

I can get 2 dissipations off the rest of the fight, but I save the final one to fey wind/energy drain 6-9 times (or whenever the whale cow dies or kicks me off q.q)

I'd love to see the skill get buffed. Sacking the fairy is fine, just make it a little more rewarding!/less punishing xD
1) Reduce MP of Spells cast
2) Reduce Cost of resummon after (free please :D)
3) Have the potency affect both healing and magic damage.

It will cost you more MP to resummon your fairy (not to mention to recoup any additional heals you may have needed to cast without your fairy available to top off people for free) than the WHM or AST would save by not casting one spell. If you want to help your healing partner fill everyone up, use ET+Succor and call it a day.

No matter how you look at it, using Dissipation + Deployment Tactics is an excessively complicated and resource/CD-intensive solution to a completely non-threatening mechanic. It's awfully impressive-looking, but the overkill is real :)

The reason I compared Energy Drain to Pet cost, is because both are based on a percentage of your base mana pool.

Dissipation isn't a good mana recovery tool, but if you're completely empty, it does let you sacrifice a fairy for around 2.5k mana. Thats not an effective way to use it, but it could come in handy.

For the most part, I view it as a way to "buy" more aetherflow at the expense of future mana. There are times, where a quick aetherflow-based heal can make a big difference. Both dissipation and aetherflow-consuming abilities are off-gcd, so its an option.

At the start of a fight, you essentially have (or should have) access to 6 aetherflows (3 ready, plus aetherflow off cooldown). Every minute, you get 3 more, and its important to use them. Every 3 minutes, you can essentially get 3 more, but you do have to be careful when/how you use it.

I often like to sacrifice the fairy early in the fight, when things are still easy. This lets me dps more early on, with less concern for mana consumption, and if there is a problem, I have surplus aetherflow stacks to respond to it. If not, then I can stay full mana by throwing in energy drains as I use mana (to not waste it); off-gcd damage is always helpful.

I do try to line up three things when using dissipation: Fairy Cooldowns active, no Aetherflow stacks, and Aetherflow is past the halfway point for being back off cooldown (or mana is mostly full). If you are too full on mana to get the full benefit when using Aetherflow, resummon the pet first.
