Nope, and sorry but I'm afraid I failed to understand your joke :(

Pankration was like a total ripoff of Pokemon <.<:
It was a system back on FFXI where you took snapshots of monsters to imprint their souls onto a plate and could use them for battle, or use the souls to augment your monster's abilities. From there you go to the colosseum and force them to fight against other monsters as you issue commands.
It was popular for all of about 4 months.

I guess it depends on your perspective?? both the LSes on the servers I was on called it a ripoff of PokemonQuote:
It wasn't a ripoff...You weren't encouraged to CATCH EM ALL, battle gym leaders, drug your monster up, etc...
It shared similarities, but is every monster fighting minigame a pokemon rip-off?
FFVs Beastmaster is a pokemon rip-off!(wait a minute...)
Er...what? I like Pokemon a lot, I was just making a joke with the FFV thing, since FFV was out before Pokemon, yet allowed you to use a monster to fight a monster, and the beastmaster class had to use something like Pokeballs in order to carry around those huge monsters!
Time to form your own opinion. Do you think it was a Pokemon rip-off? Do you think they sat down and said "LET'S COPY POKEMON, YESSSS!"? Square Enix owns the rights to a little series called Dragon Quest Monsters, which started way back on the GameBoy, maybe they wanted to reincarnate that into an FF minigame.Quote:

I'm sure there are plenty of people on both sides, but I've never really met anyone who didn't feel it was a pankration.
and yes Dragon Quest Monsters is the same sort of game, I didn't care for it much, I vaguely remember having some sort of monster that was a bunch of vines at some point.
The only mount I care about is a Chocobo, but I have nothing against other mounts if that's what some people want. They would need to be specific to FFXIV or FF at the very least. It would be interesting to see some race-specific mounts, ie. only a Lala can ride a Wild Ewe, and only Roegadyn can steer an Aldgoat. Honestly, who wouldn't laugh and take some screenshots at a Black Eft being driven by a Miqo'te that has 3-4 Lala passengers on the back?
The same for vanity pets. I don't personally care for them, but if someone wants a Cactuar, Tonberry, or Moogle following them around town all day, then that's not going to detract from my enjoyment of the game.
I'm all for the inclusion of different types of mounts/vehicles.
There are plenty of examples within the Final Fantasy series of different types of transportation, from dragons and chocobos to submarines, airships and motorcycles.
Granted, I'd like available options to be consistent with the lore of Eorzea/Hydaelyn, but I don't think I'd be opposed to the idea of a party being able to ride together on a dragon to a specific destination for example.
I'm all for any type of addition as long as it makes sense to add within the game world.
So because other MMO's have more than one mount, FFXIV has to as well?
It's not using imagination if FFXIV decides to do what every other MMO is doing.
And the only reason I used WOW as the "make it more like" is because it's a MMO that majority of the MMO audience is familiar with.
I'm for varying breeds of chocobo that are different colors/speeds. You could even give them stamina and some breeds have higher stamina but have lower sprints, others the opposite.
And yeah, I'm all for pet jobs. But the current mob variety is sorta weak. Maybe bottled pets of new mob models?
PFFFFFFFFT mounts?!
Why have those when you can teleport~
Stick to the golden chickens, this is still a FF game, FF games use chocobo's, not dragons bears and other stupid ideas for riding.
Notice its about mounts, not vehicles. You ride chocobo's. One game had a dragon. But almost every final fantasy has been chocobo's, airships, and the occasional boat/submarine.
In all seriousness.
If they did release mounts they would have to drastically limit the teleport system. They would have to revert to the FF11 travel methods to gives mounts and airships a Grand Purpose.
I feel the only reason why they have not implemented any of them is because they feel that they would be useless and have wasted their time when players can literally just teleport anywhere they wish.
To implement the Gold Bird/Ostrich they would have to only allow players to teleport either
A. Cities only, and limiting the amount of anima given /regenerated/ possibly adding a large cool down to allow the use of a Chocobo. Chocobo's would then have a purpose into getting you to leve camps and across the many HUGE zones running at 2.5-3x movement speed?
- Possibily adding Chocobo mini games like many others have mentioned (FF9) and the FF11 breeding and racing system.
B. Allow teleport only to specific leve camps and or Out Posts like FF11. FF14 currently has outposts (1 for each zone) that have NPCs just sitting there and none to talk to. Also with teleporting limitations.
To implement both Air Ships and Chocobo you would have to remove the ability to teleport to cities as well as leve camps or completely remove the teleport system and convert to the FF11 methods of travel which was flawless but possibly increase the speeds at which you travel.
- Airships only take 5 min instead of 10
- Allow battles and or behest type events to take place such as pirates to give you something to do while you wait or just remain in the cabin and craft.
- Add effects such as Fog and add some eerie ghost ships that pass by :)
-Once again increase the speed of chocobos and or allow players to call the chocobos whenever they please or just add the chocobo whistle back with a reasonable cool down so that way traveling on foot isn't extinct...
PS: My English is horrible
If they also included pets with the current system such as summoners and beast masters... think of how overpowered that would be.
Here I have my over powered archer with every best buff ability possible along with Cure IV AND the ability to summon and charm a monster so I hvae two pets by my side and now I am the ultimate class and can solo anything even the new lame NMs that drop utter crap.
But the Chocobos and Air ships are apart of Final Fantasy. The chocobos in 11 you had to spend gil everytime you wanted one unless you owned your own. But thay were all on timmers. So you couldent just ride all over the place at free will . Thay could do the Chocobos like in FF13 if there is an agroing Mob it could spook your Chocobo and toss you off.
As for airships there allready in the game look up in the sky from time to time you see them flying around. Also Grindia has a Airship Dock its just not in service...Yet.
The Teleport system with anima is just fine IF thay add other transportation. Say you used 30 anima traveling from place to place. Then decide well i dont wanna waste anymore anima so im going to use the chocobo to get to this place. Or say i dont wanna waste anima and take the airship to the next city.
When it comes to beastmasters in 11 all you could do was charm or call out 1 pet at a time.
With summoners all you could do is call out 1 avatar and one time and wile thay were out it was draining your MP.
Look up some youtube videos about beastmasters and summoners from FF11 to get a good idea how thay worked in 11.
I for one want JUST chocobos , the Airships , And wouldent mind seeing beastmaster and summoners again. ( id rather like to see blue mage again :) )
I'm pretty sure even if anima were still around, people would want to ride chocobos.
'Cause they're awesome and shit.
Dude.... the problem is this.
The ONLY content in the ENTIRE game is leves atm. 8 levels per 36 hours. I use about 30/100 anima to instantaneously teleport to all 3 camps and all 3 cities. Now I'm done and dont feel like playing the game anymore let alont log in for another 2-3 days because doing those 8 boring leves and undergoing the horribe battle system with server lag and unresponsive gameplay just tires me out.
When I decide to log back in I have full anima again.
Rinse and repeat.
I need a purpose to ride my chocobo and an airship.
Don't put words into my mouth, i never said it has to have more mounts. I was suggesting various possibilities for the mount system. Read back my posts, it could be adding more mounts (some suggested dragon, vehicles), or chocobos only but with more choices. (some suggested to have armour system for chocobos)
I don't agree with you regarding the imagination part. Every MMORPG has a battle system, FFXIV has it too, so does that means it has no imagination? NO. It merely depends on how you implement the same thing differencely using your imagination, the outcome could be better or more innovatively than the existing one. Same as mount system, you can have more mounts but totally difference from WOW or any other MMORPG with outstanding/gorgeous system that a lot better/innovative than WOW or other games.
sorta yeah . I mean if all your going to do is 8 leves every 36 hours your leaving alot of SP/EXP on the field of battle. Could probaly gain a good 10~30k more SP/EXP grinding VS waiting for leve reset IMO. So you would be ahead of the game sotospeak. But to each there own. Every FF had a chocobo Every FF had an air ship. And if you think thats wrong then take it up with Cid! lol
I agreed with DarkRain's part that you underlined too. And another reason the mount is important for me is, anima is too less for people like me who play a slightly longer time, i want to explore more areas and have more fun with my friends, the limited anima really prohibited me from enjoying this game. (Sometimes i just stop playing the game for a few days due to my anima was getting low, same thing happened to my friends in-game.)
ff8 have chocobos? I dont remember. Im thinking it was like a very small side item that most people nvr even knew about.
I would think it silly for 8 to not have them too. but I honestly cant think of them though its been a while. Could you please remind me? i believe you, just want a refresher
Edit: nvm i "lurnd to google" i was correct they were special forests with them or something
I remember reading some interview before the official release of the game, and SE stated that chocobos would carry items. Kinda like a retainer, again with the new dev team this could change really quick. I hope they serve as both riding and storage. Either way as long as I can summon the chocobo anywhere on the world maps I'm sold XD.
