99% repair NPC [Thanks for the offer...]

No I agree with Zoltan, simply based on the fact that ALOT of players in game treat you like you owe them the repairs as a crafter. As if you put all that time in to level it and now you owe the rest of the world something on top......

To carry that further, I see 3 names here so far that I know for a fact, from experience, offer nothing to you for your service of repairing there equipment.

Im in Pro of the 99% NPC repair....

1.- still need PC players to do repairs to 100% if people want to sell back items , however downside is.... maybe people will forget about resale old gear cause Materia, they might end turning old gear into those items to attach into weapons and new armor, so i hope a requisite to turn old gear/weapons into materia includes it be at 100% too. (Btw has anyone wondered if materia itself will actually need be repaired too?)

2.- even if repair NPC will be ntroduce into camps and such, there is still (at least i hope) the midle raids repairings need, yah , i doubt next dungeons or wathever it be next end game be always near a NPC repair, so PC players will still be in need for when in midle end game runs (again, i want to think so).

3.- People should start having crafters more in mind and stop beign greed,at least offer the same gil you would pay to NPC instead offering less than the price of the dark matter needed.... seriously, is understandable crafters get to complain about this changes with all the greedy people around.

4.- have in mind not all crafters have their own at r40+ already, even us crafters need of the repair NPC sometimes, actually, there are some tools that are a paradoja.... like a blacksmith main tool that need a blacksmither to get repaired.... if you dont have a second MAIN tool you cant get your own tool repaired, so NPC might help with that at some point.

i agree, this has been happening alot... people come up to you with at cost repair price, or with the item itself as a reward, or worse less then costs. and i feel like the jerk cause i tell them no, and then some one else is kind enough to do it for them.

sorry but i leveled crafting cause it a means to make profits and do things for myself, not so other players who dont' want to craft can play and do everything they enjoy in game then come to me for free things. even gear in this game was being treated wrongly ..in ffxi u didn't go to people make me this cause it was cheaper then ah/wards. u just bought them from ah. i have a feeling second this +3 items = 100% every non crafter will think to come to crafters with mats instead of buying it in wards. ...NO ..ty. get buying from wards. crafters craft as a means of gain, not cause staying in city all day grindign while your out fighting mobs equal more fun...least not the majority.

granted the mats for repair are gonna get cheaper or they adding npc that does it for u, but either way when u ask people it shoudl always be more then the cost. doing things out of kindness is a cop out. if u fix even one person with your one craft? then u just made gils for your repairs too. or u farmed mats or u did something to make gils, u pay for that trade, it's a game, not a pyramid skeam for the players who want things all handed to them.

i'm also pro for it, like said while ago, it will be like teleports, way to hard to get people to do it for you in the future, and as u can see it not even worth the time to check a bazar to do them for people. also it creates a system where people think they can get things for free in a mmo and time doens't reward those who put in that time. might as well get ride of it, hell add the exp loss again i liked it.

I just have a feeling this is all going to be just another rage fad.
people will soon forget their annoyances with the changes after they see how more convenient things all around are for everyone.
having repair NPCs at camps is just logical.
also, is it really worth spending even a thought on seeking out a crafter for an additional 24% at all? i currently play this game and i am in town at least once a day. The NPC repair guy is cheap, convenient and i know 75% will last me until i come back to town again.
if i want to sell that damaged gear, THEN ill shout for a willing crafter to repair it.

and lets remember folks, repairing is a very minor source of income and is only a side aspect to the main one.... which is crafting.
"but its the principal not the money, DOW/M should need and rely on us" well we do, we use what you craft. the end.

Completely for easy access to and better NPC repairs. I'm not someone who puts a lot of time into this game, so I don't have crafter friends or a good LS who can do these for me. Nor do I want to stand around shouting for repairs in town, or feel penalised for not having levelled a crafting class yet.

If it were up to me I'd completely abolish the durability system, I've always felt it to be an annoyance in any game.

Crafters can still craft. Not being the sole source of repairs won't change that.

I offer 5k for most repairs, they get repaired fairly quick by standing in town but its a complete hassle and I know many like minded people that are fed up with it and just see it as a terrible design that will add to the pile of things pushing us away from the game. 99% repair is a step in the right direction, lets hope the npc will repair accessories as well. Players can now chose to have an npc quickly repair them and crafters still get to OMG CRAFT! and also repair things to be sold, fair trade off is fair. My advice to you good sir is, get over it.


PS. Just because I call out people being selfish with the me me me me me me me mindset doesn't mean I don't offer rewards for others services.

Well chain, that doesn't change the fact that I have roled up to people offering 3000 for a grade 5 repair. You kindly explin that it cost 4500 just for the mats for the repair and they go off on you. That would never bother me, if it didn't happen OFTEN, just because you offer the wopping 500 gil, extra does not me I was "calling you out for being selfish", like you mention.

Knowing that repairs only will be put up in peoples bazaar for them to make profit out selling the item, I can forsee a rise in the 100% repair costs.
Fairly sure alot of people wouldn't be intressted in helping other people make money, without a hefty reward for the service, since well... this is a MMO and MMO communitys usualy work out that way.

I don't realy see the need to change it in the first place, it was fine how it was now (if you invest the time leveling crafts you could repair your own items easily, if you didn't invest time in crafts then you occasionaly had to afk in town with bazaar for 15-20min)
DM and NPC repair costs etc all seemed reasonable to me as they are.

However I'm not bothered by this change personaly, though I probably wont spend much time doing break even repairs as I do now.

i wouldn't mind if they made repairs 100% through the npc. i say this as a full time crafter. the thing is the prices still need to be above the cost of the materia. that way if someone wants to use the npc it's easily acceptable, but would be at a slightly higher price. let's say the cost of grade 5 dark matter is 4800 gil then let the npc repair it to full 100% for 7-10k. the crafters can do it for 4800 or as the matter for the rewards if you want to wait on them, but you could npc repair it if you were in the rush for a small fee.

Exactly. Crafters can have the convenience of cheap repair costs. Let everyone else play the game with the gear they earned and just pay a slightly larger fee until they learn a craft.

75% NPC repair is ridiculous anyway. And I can't sell any of my damn stuff!

Well , if all crafters are complainin about fee repairs, why SE doesnt make requirement to offer the same ammount in gils that the NPC request for repairs? enough fair?, yeah take out our liberty on set our own prices, thats what you guys want?

Ask that people offer the right ammount of gil for repairs is like ask that Archers hold back on grinding party when there is a gladiator tryin to tank a mob that dies in 3 seconds... that absurd it is, stop complaining, the 99% system is ok, the thing you complaining about is really issue of gamers, not SE.

EDIT: forgot to mention, if the price offered is too low for yah, then dont do it, let it someone else who could take advantage of it do it, lets say a crafter 9 ranks below that repair, so he/she gets a good ammount of skill ups at least if not a good reward.

I don't like 99%. Wish it was 100%.

I would say it would be too high if any craft can repair any type of armor but at this stage, it's becoming VERY hard to find repairs especially on low populated servers.

Now about the prices, it needs to be lowered too.

is good 99%, dont cry, well crafter can repair every where, so dont cry, if you dont like back to play ffxi

The hell with people who would have us teleport to the damn town for decent repairs...

A repair ward that only can setup repair retainers would help a lot too. Without all the shops in the menders ward we could setup retainers for repairs..
And if SE would allow us to setup 10 items for repair. :-)
