Kinda been doing everything but right now I avoid fishing. I got a 100% Fish Guide and the addition of the Lucis Rod and the ease of getting it compared to Ironworks still has me mad.
Also been avoiding hunts for the most part ever since the new logs were added. They aren't nearly as bad now thanks to carbontwine being in the weekly quest so I occasionally go if FC members make a group.
Had in mind to get a few lucis tools for crafters but there's little to no point yet so I only got one for BTN and will probably leave it at that for now. Doesn't help there's occasionally influx of new 4* crafters that crash market prices just because they are new and think they are making good profit even when undercutting by 40k+ on things that were a steady 100k for crafted materials or undercut by 300k+ on things that were ~1mil (weapons).
Like I mentioned on my post, even excluding all these things, for me there is still sooooo much to do.
And maybe it is a glorified chat room. Nothing wrong with just signing in and talking to friends from all over the world. :o Good way to relax. ^^
It could be too that you're conflating messages. While a number of us have mentioned similar disinterests, there are many who do enjoy doing these.
Though, lol, I'm beginning to wonder how many of us here spend a goodly chunk of time on glamour. xD
pvp: Never liked it, in any game
2nd coil and anything beyond: Still too difficult
chocobo racing: I don't know what it is I'm doing wrong, but I always place far back in 8th whenever I do these and the controls seem extremely unresponsive, so it's not very fun
I can't think of anything else, really.
I'll play anything as long as I can play it with friends (both old and new) ..
Relic weapon. I'm happy with nothing and the tomes one is enough to me.
Things I haven't done YET:
-PvP - still have classes/jobs to level
-sightseeing - I've picket up the quest, just haven't done a single sight.
-FCOB - I've done T1-T6 and attempted T9. Just don't have the desire
-Primals - I've done them all at least once, and I think I've finished the EX versions of most. My system seems to be slightly on the slow end to complete them.
-Low Level Routette (once I've got a class to 50) - there really isn't any benefit for me.
-Guildheists - Just fell out of doing them.
-Triple Triad - Bought the hype to much before ever trying it and it didn't live up to the hype, so that really was my own fault.
-Hunts - Just never interested me, no matter what rewards they added.
Things I do: (Daily)
-Beastman dailys. - I'm max rep with all the tribes. I used the Ixati(sp) to level my crafters and have all crafters to 50 now.
-Gold Saucer Cractpot - It's the way I earn MGP.
-Chat with friends on TS. Honestly I think this is why I'm still playing the game.
-Retainer ventures - I've got my DOM to 50 shortly after ventures came out. I'm now leveling the other 3 DOL ones.
-Crystal Towers (Tues) - I run them with my FC.
-Crystal Towers (Wed) - Typically WOD if I didn't do it with the FC on Tuesday.
Things I do: (Weekly)
-Companion log - Kill 100 mobs of equal level.
-Expert Dungeon Roulette - Yes I'm after the tombstones.
-Gathering log - It's easy money and I usually sell what I gather for profit anyway.
-Work on leveling my non-50 classes/jobs - Right now I'm working on ROG, LNC, and PUG. I'll get BRD, PAL, and MRD up soon.
I still find I have a lot of things to do in this game.
I can't speak for others, but for me, it's mainly about the story quests and new content (raids, trials, dungeons, etc and that aren't hardcore like upper level turn Coils) and gearing (demon gear, twines, etc at this point). After that it's a lot of repeating all of those above for the hell/fun of it or for practice - since people are the unpredictable, differing factor in every run - or helping FC level their lower jobs (or my own lower level jobs/characters). Ironic, considering I hate repeating myself o_Oa *and yet, queues Titan HM, Garuda EX, WoD and Shiva on repeat for several hours, when the only one on in the FC, for the fun of it...* I'll do leves on lower jobs to fill in the gaps between dungeon level reqs to get to the next *grinds passed Totorak >.<*, but...
For others, it might be more of an RPing outlet - the story + side quests and then using the game as a platform to roleplay on in a way that text-based or D&D-based RPing doesn't do. A non-static (as you have other player pop and factors/weather you don't directly control), more visual and environmental stage to play and develop on-going 'stories' on. Dunno if any of this helps give any kind of insight. x.x
triple triad(hated it in FF8..why couldn't they just make a new card game)
coil
beastman dailies(waiting till 60 to do them)
Thank you both very much for your insight on this, I greatly appreciate it. It really wasn't so much I'm like "OMG, how dare you guys not have fun on this awesome game like me!" Honestly I feel bad, and I'm more of the mind, "Gosh, I really wish there was something I could suggest to everyone that would allow them to have more fun on this game." That was really my mindset over the whole thread. Probably the reason why I'm not mad at my FC for leaving the game, I know they weren't having fun anymore, and I don't want them to log on to something miserable every time they do.
@Sadana OMG! I spend more of my gil on vanity both for me and my house/FC house than I do ON ANYTHING, I'll even be like "Um.. do I really need food or pots for this fight?... idk if I wana spend the gil." Then something on the MB catches my eye "OMG! I DO NOT CARE HOW MUCH IT COSTS, I NEED THAT RIGHT NOW, will look sooo good on Marik!" Heh XD
I've been re-evaluating what my focuses are in game.
I used to think I would never craft. Now, I'm working on leveling all of my crafting jobs.
I used to think I would never do beast men dailies, but I'm now doing the Ixali quests to help in my crafting.
I am really re-considering if I want to raid anymore in this game. After wasting two months with two failed raid groups, I'm considering being completely done with it. If people don't get instant wins (and instant loot) in this game, they quit. It gets old.
I've never touched the sightseeing log, and I honestly think I never will.
I'm quickly getting sick of the Gold Saucer and spending 100 MGP on the mini cactopot to "win" 72 every other day (essentially a loss most days). I'm realizing that I will never have any of the cool items without some humungous stroke of luck in winning the weekly cactopot.
See... I'm having a blast even 1.5 (and change) years into the game! :D My FC is still growing too as we meet more wonderfully friendly people. :o (So lucky!) For me, if I see something I want for glam or omgIneedthatformyhouse, I go and level said class in order to make the item. XD
Oh... plus alts... >.>; I've got like, ten... or so. It's fun to play as different races without paying for Fantasia pots or just to visit other servers once in a while. ^^ And there's that new-to-game, pure chilling-while-leveling feeling that I enjoy so much too.
One more thing... ^^; Here is my goal list from my blog:
^^vQuote:
1. just do what seems fun at the time. ^^
2. "
3. "
4. "
5. "
hrm...
Coils, PvP, most Guildhest, most EX trials, sightseeing, fishing log.
For the most of it, its just because I have no means to do them :/
I enjoy pretty much everything except the Relic questline. Ofc I have my Zenith from when they were actually a thing, but I absolutely hate the money and time sink that the Zodiac weapons are. I'm happy with my tomestone/coil and diamond weapons.
Oh, I forgot to mention. The one thing I really miss is Frontlines. I used to play it ALL the time back last summer-fall. Probably the most fun I have ever had in this game, yet. Unfortunately, I was in Maelstrom and just got really tired of 30-45 minute wait times each game.
I would jump back in a heartbeat if they ever did something to fix the wait times (i.e. getting rid of the GC restriction).
i dont even know where to unlock sight seeing
and i probably never will do it
Gathering because I'm lazy.
Mini games in GS, I don't find them fun and the rewards are so tiny.
Chocobo racing because I don't see the appeal.
Housing, I have no gil.
PvP - only interested in Frontiles for the mounts but meh.
BCoB - don't have a static.
Endgame crafting - useless for me.
Hunts - Too little play time to go around running looking for mobs.
I'm sure there are more lol
PvP. I've done this 3 times and never again.
Crafting. I'll go on kicks where I'm trying to level them but after all this time I still don't have any to 50. And if I do get them to 50, I doubt I'll try to get them so I can make 4* crafts.
I am not a fan of chocobo racing but my free Company is so I do it sometimes. I have yet to come in first though.
PVP, which is a shame cause I'd like to get some glamour gear from that but the ques are so long... </3
Most of the things I don't do have already been mentioned but here
-PVP I was never really good at it and sometimes people take the fun out of it (FPS experience has left a sour taste in my mouth)
-Coil's, well it is something I will work on eventually it is just a pain I had help getting through T5 but T9 and beyond seems really hard to do if you don't have a group of people to do it with (which is sad since I really wanna get them done for story purposes).
-Ex primals ( I have done Ruda and Levi ) this mainly because the rest of the ones I wanna try are locked behind mog and titan which sucks ( I have watched videos on those two but no one wants to take a chance on someone new it seems..)
-Relic to much of a poa (I have my Veil of Wiyu in the in Animus phase with about 10 melds and my Stardust rod at Zenith just not looking forward to more atma and books...)
-Fishing
-Moogle Mail quests
Low level dungeons, due to the inability to run in and solo them on lvl 50 jobs
crafting, gathering, desynthesis, spiritbonding, pvp, daily tribal quests, everything from gold saucer... quite a lot in fact
hunts lol theres just to much drama with the whole system so i avoid it ._. nothin really worth gettin from that anyways ;/
I've done a bit of everything, except legendary fishing I guess? Hmm, I have very good fishing gear (except rod) from having a maxed out Miner. I have yet to unlock chocobo racing, but my available time has been somewhat less than usual since it was released and I haven't heard especially good things.
Was into raiding through the end of BCoB, but static dissipated (lol) and haven't even stepped foot into Turn 6, though I'd like to some day. Have only even attempted Titan Ex two or three times for the same reason, more or less.
I don't PvP much, though I like it (but I'm terrible at it). It doesn't help that I'm with the Immortal Flames and they always lose on my datacenter.
Sightseeing log is just boring. More than a few times I've seen the message 'you arrived at a vista' without actively doing that content (sort of the way I'd imagine it should work), but I guess it's always the wrong time or weather or something so I've only completed maybe 3 or 4 of those. Seems like a big waste of time to get a minion considering there's almost no substance involved.
Combat side I haven't done any healing really. I don't feel any need to level everything up to 50 because there's no way I'd keep everything geared and parts of the relic quest more or less required I stick to a single class.
Coil - I want to get into it but unless you have another 7 people at your level of experience then you're stuffed. One night 6 of us queued for T2... Never popped due to missing 2 DPS. The other, kind, FC members that queued with me have experience up to downing T13 so I thought it would be a quick T2-T4 clearing session.
It's likely that I won't ever know the storyline locked within the Coil.
The Thousand Bores of Total Tit-tats - super annoying and boring.
PvP - too long to have queue pop. Tried it...and failed.
Above 2 star crafting - way too needy on having all crafting to 50.
Choco racing, too much MGP for too poor a rewards, you make way more grinding NPCs on TT
Paladin - tried it. Boring 3 hit combo until the end times near. I couldn't stomach it to 50. Made it close though
I never got into The Delivery Moogle questline. Just never actually felt like doing any of it.
PvP... I did it very little in Frontlines but the queues plus the needing to get a certain rank to even glamour the easily obtained outfits was just awful.
Triple Triad...just...never was into it from the other game. Won't be into it now.
And Hildebrand. I do it for trials but I have no idea what the story is. It just isn't for me.
Thing is, we ARE having fun! Just because we don't do all of the game, doesn't mean we're not enjoying it. It'd be like saying that if someone doesn't do everything that there's to do in the world, then he isn't enjoying life. I do very few things IRL, and I'm still having a blast at it.
Plus, there's the pleasure of satire. My friends and I have a lot of fun at pointing out at flaws (what we consider flaws, mind you) in the game or things we'd like to see improved or changed (for example, the fact that the sea is always so flat even during thunderstorms). We make jokes about them and about what reasons SE could have for making the game a certain way.
Often too many times though, when I do this with someone who isn't used to this kind of humor, someone usually out of my FC, I get reactions like "if you dislike all those things, why don't you leave?" or "hater hater hater" or "Yoshida didn't have to give us all these nice things, be grateful and content with what we have!" "You only complain, just quit!" etcetera. It is a rather sad reaction to me. Sure, I talk about things I don't like more than I do of things I do like, but that's just because that's what it is. Why discuss of things I do like? They don't need a change to me, so I don't need to bring them up. Long as it doesn't bloom into personal insults to Yoshida or the developers or players who do enjoy the parts of the games I do not (example: This content is so retarded I feel SE only added it to make those <insertnonsensicalinsult here> <categoryofplayers>!), I see criticism as a sign of love for the game. Because only if you really care for the game, you'll take a moment to look at certain details and bring them up for discussions.
There's many other things I'd like to add on the topic, because I'm sensitive to the misconception that dev-requests/suggestions threads = hate and ill feelings, but I'll just end it here.
If you have doubts whether or not someone is playing something he's having fun with, simply look at the fact that he IS paying for the game and playing. People don't pay for things they do not enjoy in a sufficient way to deem it worth the cash. Just like with marriage.
Chocobo racing is light fun, sadly it is true that a few gaps in ranks makes it awkward to play with mates who havent trained their avians as much :/
Well first off, I really wasn't trying to condescend to anyone at all by what I was saying, and made that as crystal clear as I could in my very first post. And I wasn't really quoting anyone specifically, just some of the posts seemed to be very down, not happy-ish, and maybe even lethargic about it. I'm sorry, I personally don't understand what you're coming from. I personally don't take any kind of pleasure in "pointing out flaws" in things, unless someone specifically asks for constructive criticism which I do not mind giving. If it can be constructive then it may have a means of helping the flaw or issue out. But to just flat out poke and make fun of something to do that, isn't that just basically bullying in it's most basic form?
I'm sorry but your post (since you decided to quote me) has me extremely confused as to what you're trying to say or to convey to me. Also, I would personally find it rude, if you were to act that way towards someone that wasn't inside your personal joke, by picking at something they like. I would get frustrated myself without the proper knowledge of what was causing you to act such a way infront of me.
Plus I never said that dev requests or suggestions in the form of threads meant that there was hatred and malice intention behind the people who make such threads...
There are things in this game I'm not 100% happy with, I don't hate, but I wouldn't mind maybe seeing a change for the better. And if there is an issue that arises I do try to give constructive criticism as honestly as I can with knowing the issue at hand as 100% as I can. I never just blindly go "Oh I hate this because I personally just hate it, and it should be changed just for me!"
Again I'm not really 100% sure exactly what you're trying to convey to me here.
I wasn't attacking you with my post, only expanding the points other players made. I'm sorry you took it as an attack just because I quoted you. You said you wished how to make the game more fun to people, I explained that we already are having fun. It was a "I agree, and...!" post, not an argument post. But then again, maybe you're defensive because we often had opposed opinions in other threads. I come in peace, rest assured.

I'm sorry I never meant to come off that way, I didn't think you were trying to personally attack me. Like I said in my first post I rarely post in threads such as these. But I was just genuinely curious about why people play things that "seem" to me the way they explain it in typed form, that it doesn't seem they even enjoy anything anymore. And I did get two responses earlier that did shed a little light on my confusion, but I just wasn't sure what your post directed at me since you quoted me, was trying to convey to me. I was just confused was all, and just wanted clarification.
I don't touch anything PVP related because I'm just not a fan of PVP, and I don't do too much intense crafting (with intentions to just be able to make my own PPPs for raids, and I can already do that). Pretty sure I do just about everything else, though. I stopped hunting actively way back when the soldiery upgrades were the thing to get with allied seals, so I guess I also don't do that.
Looking at the recent discussion, I have to admit I don't find much humor in always picking out flaws and poking at it. Depending on how you word things, it could come off as offensive pretty quick like. Course, it could also just be my tainted view on humanity in general. I've seen and dealt with too many trolls in my life here on the internet.
Personally, I'd rather that people discuss the things they like, rather than the things they hate. If people just focus on talking about the things they hate, it makes it LOOK like they just hate the game in general, which is often the vibe I typically get from such discussions. But if people discuss things they like, we actually see for clear fact on forum discussion that yes, people actually ARE enjoying the content. I've never understood the reason to be silent about the things you like and only discuss the things you hate. It just screams "BACKWARDS!" to me. Course... I suppose if no one criticizes, then there's nothing to munch on to get better at your work either. Sadly, one of my tainted views on humanity stems from caustic criticism. (I'm talking the reviews on which the person pulls no punches and talks as much trash as possible about the product)
But that's just me. I know, I know. Different strokes for different people. At least the discussion ended well enough. :p
I suppose since I'm posting in here again, I may as well add that I've also been ignoring Chocobo racing lately, since I don't feel like sinking in tons of MGP and gil on it yet. But what little racing I did I enjoyed. Perhaps I'll race more in the future.
