You got way too much time on your hands Azury...
Azyur is a "He" (But I agree with you and him)
It's a like a child who touches a hot stove after you've told him/her numerous times "NO", that child learns from experience to never touch the hot stove again because it burns.
I agree in the most part with this negative rant :) Overall however I am impressed with SE communication and what they have changed. No one said they had to tell us as much as they have, they are trying really hard to keep us informed and I appreciate it. It does bother me a bit that some things don't seem tested before release but I guess thats what we are here for - play and give feedback for free. What bothers me the most however is typos, does no one edit the translations before they are finalized?
Why is this thread still living?
Because it proves that no matter how reasonable your criticism some fanboy will without fail call you a troll? And I thought I was a die hard fan but you people take the cake and them some.
XD
SE really has made some gigantic efforts in the communication department, however they are not done learning and they need to take notes from western developers on how to release helpful and accurate information and not a miasma of "what does that really mean" statements.
Information that exists but is vague isn't really all that great. So SE gets a C for effort at this time, hopefully it gets better.
Sure lets divulge all information and not have anything to look forward to!
lol... That's not what is meant but I'm sure that's how you want to read it. Just look at the threads with people confused about point allotment and bonuses.... Why can't they just explain exactly how an IMMEDIATE change is going to be like? Instead of only saying 40% of what will be. I guess it's better then heh btw we just changed a few things in old school XI.
>.> It's still behind the curve in terms of communication.
Not really. Cause the day of patch they usually have everything else explained
People will always rage/troll on forums: Forums usually mean egotistical epeen measuring about who is more knowledgeable than this or that and so forth.
I honestly think it is VERY understandable that players would be angry and impatient at SE with what they personally view to be just reasons.
However, maybe we are missing the other perspective entirely: SE has more factors to simultaneously consider than even you as a player deal with when fighting Batraal.
Think about it, they are hurting on many levels: financially, physically, mentally, reputation. For a business that's some pretty core aspects to their overall operations.
Meanwhile their fan base is chewing them out like a ravenous pack of dogs.
Face facts: The game as well as SE has suffered horribly since launch just as much as it's player base has.
SE needs encouragement and clean/concise and informative feedback from the players.
I personally think the OP touched on points which have been overly stressed throughout the community to a nauseating degree.
SE is communicating with the player base to a detailed extent. If you've played FFXI you would know that SE has exceeded their quality and performance post FFXIV dev team swap. They have even gone so far as to detail how patch content can be completed (which is too far IMO).
I don't think any of us can throw stones too much unless we are successfully running a multi million dollar gaming franchise and producing mmos with half the production and graphic net worth that ffxiv and FFXI has.
SE is a developer of video games. Rest assured, they are balancing things the way it is best done. Very few of you could possibly know all that they are developing due to the depth and degree of complexity that MMOs require. Just because SE converts patch notes to plain English bulletins for you instead of lengthy scientific developer guru paragraphs gives you no right to be so ungrateful and bash them.
Hard to imagine everyone ever really satisfied in an MMO. That's human nature, perspectives will always differ across the millions and someone is always going to complain about something which may or may not be a big deal.
tl;dr OP is highly biased and lacks definitive proof beyond personal beliefs. SE is making things happen just as they need to. Forums will always have complainers/trolls. Let SE do their job: if they need your help programming an entire game they will ask for it.
~hugs~

I missed your QQing while I was on vacation, Azury. ^_^
O.O I'm scared to ask how that's even possible. Oh noes it's a pretty girl!! >.>
@Areeya
Yes good points. As I said they've made good progress, but I'm not going to sit here and just take whatever is thrown at me without giving my two tiny little cents on what I think needs work just to make these guys feel better.
Do you have a job, go to school? Do you realize that when all you're given is nothing but positive pats on the back you cannot progress as far as when someone points out where you could do better?
I hate unreasonable bashing of a company but I also hate censoring of criticism just to spare someone's ego. SE are big boys and girls, they are going to be just fine. Otherwise they can just shut down the forums if it starts to bother them so much. It's debatable whether this was a good idea or not anyway.
What makes me laugh about these forums is that when you throw rainbows and kittens at SE you get repped up, but when you express your displeasure or fear about something (without flaming mind you) you get called a pointless troll. It's all a little one sided and may I point out that this is the attitude that hurt FFXIV in beta to begin with. Maybe, just maybe if we hadn't called everyone with an opinion then a WoW troll, maybe devs would have taken a hint and delayed the launch.. Maybe not, however we surely didn't help then by speculating and casting protect on SE any chance we got....
Anyway.
Not when you consider that half of the current community only plays for a week or two after major updates -- myself included.
As a side note, have you played FFXI lately? The massive amount of BS you get from people with regards to Abyssea is painful and was enough to make me quit again, even though I just bought all of the expansions. In-game communities =/= out-of-game communities. You can't really assess the quality of FFXIV's community because 90% of the ingame communication is between people who know each other irl due to the limitations of the current systems. Forum communities suck regardless of the game -- some are better than others, but all-in-all they are far from indicative of the -real- community of the game , i.e. the people who actually play.
As it stands, what made FFXI's in-game community so good is the fact that cooperation and good communication among players was mandatory to get anything done. If anything, the quality or lack thereof with regard to FFXIV's community is due to a lack of content that brings players together. Instances and raids are far from a unifying activity structure, because 90% of the time most of the people you're dealing with are your competition for rewards.
Ultimately it brings us back to the understand that a good community is made up of people who just play the game -- all SE needs to do to recreate a community of caliber similar to early FFXI is foster more content that brings people together, which they are already doing with the reworking of the EXP system to facilitate parties better.
Insane amount of BS was always a constant in XI, you either conform or bugger off. I need to get off these forums and just enjoy the game or these posts will just remind me how behind the curve SE always is and maybe I should just wait for Kingdoms of Amalur.
