The collar and cuffs, I'm all for.
But bunny ears? Get outta here. Lol
Last I checked the Manderville Gold Saucer was funded by a heterosexual man who obviously wanted a design to emulate the playboy style. That being said, I don't agree that males and females should share 100% of the same outfits. HOWEVER, for every female-restricted outfit, there should be a male-restricted outfit out of pure fairness, even if it's of a different design.
The gambler outfit is modeled after Setzer's outfit.
Last I checked, Setzer was a dude.
You lose the "Setzer" effect if both genders can wear it.
Now that I'm done being facetious and absurd...
I've honestly never gotten why people that want to play as males get shafted with the glamours.
I don't really understand gender restriction in gear in the first place. There are plenty of men running around in the game in dresses already. Some of them look quite respectable, some of them look a little silly (I member one guy I saw in an orange pumpkin head, nothing but a necklace and tattoo on the upper body, and a green skirt, it got a minor chuckle at the unique choice but that was the extent of it); but the same could be said of any woman in a dress (there are ways to make outfits that would make anyone look good or bad, regardless of gender).
But to me, robes and dresses are often seen as one and the same. The demon healer robe I wear as a SCH for example could easily be seen as a dress, same for my old vanya robes, etc. Does that mean that only women should be spell casters?
If costumes must differ between the genders, I think they should be remodels of the same concept available to both, like much of the event gear is.
Give guys bunny ears (and all sorts of other animal parts, who cares?), unlock dresses, unlock all the gender locked pieces for all, but make slight adjustments here and there just like what was done with event gear.
Heck, the Xmas fake mustache wasn't gender locked, so little else makes sense if you want to separate gender appearance.
The bunny ears or something for males would be nice. I am just tired that they keep coming out with female gender locked outfits, but there is either no male equivalent (bunny outfit) or the male version isnt gender locked (bestman suit). Its not really fair, nor do I have as much content access just because I choose to play a male character. I don't care if its hot and sexy or cute and fluffy, but the way they are going about it letting girls wear anything and locking guys out sucks.
I was in the grocery store today noticed they had easter candy. So yea easter is coming up again. Maybe for this year's easter event SE will have more bunny outfits instead of egg helms.
It wouldn't be hard to adapt the bunny suit to male bodies. Just get rid of the fishnets because that will just look ultimately stupid and get rid of the bustier(except for the bowtie) because men don't have to hide their chest :p. I think if they adapted the costume like this, it would have the same sexy look as on the girls!
Please make this happen SE!
Bunny suit for men please ^^
Can we get a response for this? Setzer outfit is unisex, why would you make the bunny outfit only for female characters?
Yeah but men irl COULD actually wear bunny ears, right? They could wear dresses, right? I really dont get why SE believes they had to tell us what men should/could wear and what not (I actually recalling them saying something like "yeah, the sailor stuff was supposed to be men-only but then we were like: Why shouldnt women wear that too?").
Still I would be kinda fine with having an alternative outfit for men - but having it like this right now is kinda unfair... so please: Either add sets without genderrecritions at all or add sets for both genders...
Cleary you've never heard of Chippendales. The men wear bow tie collars and wrists cuffs, tight pants... and that's about it. It's about what players are requesting hear with the addtion of the bunny ears which one can buy in stores in real life around this time of year.
Ah all this saltiness just because male chars can't wear bunny ears. I hope SE gives these people the bunny ears they so much want to have, maybe then all the whining threads about this topic will disappear.
I wish it would be in my eyes but if you have read any other comments in this thread( or any in other threads ), you will see many salty comments from people who are salty A. because they are mad 'cos no bunny ears for men B. because they don't want men to have bunny ears.
I'm not pointing any fingers here I'm just simply saying I wish that these threads would disappear 'cos there is so many of them and they are mainly people arguing about this topic.
Rabbit ears are ridiculous no matter the gender the person is, but it can be cute and fun I guess. And honestly SE has no problem making such fools of many of their male npcs with feminine gear and personality (mostly male highlanders funnily enough), so I don't see why they would be against us doing it to our own characters.
But it seems the big problem is people can't get over are the bunny ears. People are too stuck with the Playboy image to even consider men wearing anything bunny related. But ears or not, they have no excuse for not giving male a similar themed outfit other than laziness me think.
I'm don't care about not wearing a bunny suit, it will not suit my character but I support this thread because the bunny suit would have the same effect on male characters as it does on female characters and it is not fair that male characters can not wear it.
You want the game to be unfair? I want the clothing to be fair for everyone, therefore dumbasses making webcomics can't go on about skimpy female clothing in MMOs anymore.
Dev's:
Can we please get a response on what you think of your consumer's demand? Is it being considered?
Yes please. I'd like some sort of comment on this as well. It's fairly disheartening that this thread has gotten nothing at all, while a thread (by players of female characters) asking for more bunny gear gets a response after just a few posts.
We definitely need the bunny tail on the back of our tighty whiteys.
Ears,meh.
I want to be a bunny. I support this.
No.. Seriously... Remove gender locked headgears at least please... Why lock freakin' bunny ears for male? Where is the logic? I'd ask for the costume too but I can guess why they didn't want males to have it but why the ears?
Playboy bunnies are female.
Get over it.
The art designers for this game have a tough time, it seems, designing "nifty" outfits for male characters. All the female genderlocked sets are interesting or look good. Then we have...the male swimsuit line. And the outfits from the golden saucer - yay, I can look like a vendor NPC from Uldah.
If the gambler outfit was genderlocked to males, omg there would be a crapstorm of epic proportions. But it isn't.
Please put some more work into glamour sets for male characters, thanks. If that means giving males access to bunny ears, fine. But the discrepancy is pretty huge to anybody who cares about it at all and...well, has eyes.
There was some good 20 pages of mostly players with female characters going wild when they realized that maybe female characters wouldn't get access to only one of the male glamour set, but as soon as it was announced that only the female outfit would be gender locked, the cry for equality in gear was suddenly forgotten.
(yes I agree that bunny doesnt equal setzer gear in coolness but that was still a downer)
I just saw that thread about the floppy ears with the instant answer from the dev, I don't know if I should laugh or cry. It's like the one for the high heels. I guess we need someone with a female character to start a thread for male gear, maybe then we'll get an answer.
And Playboy doesn't exist in Eorzea. Get over it.
Seriously, that's not really the main concern with this thread despite the title, it's that once again, female characters get two costumes and male characters get one. (Apart from the citystate NPC costumes.)
With the sailor outfit, the originally male counterpart to the spring dress set, it was made unisex because 'it would look cute' on females. No such consideration has ever been made for male characters.
With the braidsmaid/best man set, female characters were given access to the bestman set.
With the Gold Saucer outfits, females were given access to the Setzer set -- and rightly so, in my opinion, since it would be equally unfair to have an iconic FF-homage set be exclusive to one gender. But once again, the same consideration wasn't made in the other direction by giving males a gender-exclusive costume while females got one in addition to the Setzer one.
Considering the Evenstar set has fishnets for girls and tights for boys, a similar thing could have been done with the bunny tights. Chest piece could just have been the bowtie -- or a bowtie and a tanktop-looking top if you want to go 'conservative'. Shoes are similar enough to the various crafter/mage dress shoes that they could easily have been unisex. And ears... meh. No excuse there for not making them unisex.
Devs still don't a response for this? Sad.
There is no good reason to not let male characters have the option of bunny ears, hell even a playboy outfit. If someone wants to wear it regardless of if another person thinks it makes them look stupid or silly, let them wear it. It's not like they would be forcing your character to wear one if unlocked it for male characters. I find it amusing how some people are so insecure about their own masculinity that they fear the idea of another guy wearing something feminine so try to shut it down. I have both male and female characters so I can use them anyways on my female ones but I support male characters getting it too.
I don't understand why Bunny Ears were made Female specific, even if they are part of a female only outfit.
Also, there isn't a good reason for that outfit to be female specific. I'm a heterosexual guy but . . . I've also been to conventions. . . . and this is a convention style outfit. #EqualRights
Honestly I think bunny ears can be far more masculine than the cherry blossom choker in the current event ever could. Yet, to quote the dev blog, the flowery choker "also looks great on males who want to adopt a cuter look for themselves."
Confusing double standards there...
Edit: Bunny men games: Dandelion (a dating sim where some of the men are cats and some are rabbits) and Night of the Rabbit (a point and click adventure game by Daedalic, the same people who made Whispered World and the Deponia series, amongst others). A suit makes any bunny man look absolutely dapper, but those with cute inclinations can go that way as well, or there's the Usagi Yojimbo samurai route too. Femininity doesn't come into it at all.
I just saw this...

...which is apparently a new(ish?) official art for Free!, idk. But my immediate thought was: so who's saying boys can't have bunny ears? And tails too, apparently.
EASTER ART!!! :ooooo
