Look, I'd be most happy if CNJ was able to unlock both classes...considering that's why I wanted to be a CNJ in the first place...and this discussion on 'is the article correct yes/no' has happened already within this thread and others like it. While it could be wrong or could have been an 'idea back then that SE now re-thought' (and I'd prefer this by the way), everything else from the same translation has either happened/is scheduled to happen.

In my perfect FFXIV job unlocking world CNJ= BLM/WHM and THM=RDM or something like it. I'd love this... I just also don't see it happening (really, unlocking 1 Job per Class is more than enough to keep SE busy right now...since it's not just a title, but requires storyline, gears, spells,abilities, etc...and all that takes time to create) I'd even prefer if they go the one class/job rank they 'hold' BLM currently... give CNJ the WHM but give THM the RDM...I know we'd still be disappointed no nuker specific job BUT BLM could be released in the second wave of Job classes, and probably be uber sexy if it was held a bit longer.

never once they said in that will be in first set of jobs, just that they know for a sure fact 100% that these jobs will be introduce into the game at some point when that will be they didn't say.

SE, as in Dev posts and Yoshi-P announcements, have yet to put out anything. This makes the information less than readily available. The information has been put out in other mediums such the magazine articles and interviews. If you didn't know, unless you specificity researched for it or ran across it in one of the thread on lodestone, you probably wouldn't of ran across this information. Some of the other posters, on this forum, assume you have this information and can be 'over critical' if you don't know it.

I think you proved my point for me coglin with that post. I posted the translation myself by reinhart earlier in this thread, i know what it says and even with your version of the translation it does not confirm your or anyone's assumptions about both mages coming in the first round. By no means am i saying they won't but theres nothing stating that they will either. Just because SE has said these jobs have been decided on doesnt mean they are the first round of jobs heck they didnt even include jobs for all classes so i'm doubtful that was their intent. I'm even beginning to doubt Dragoon is coming in the first round with the Dark knight looking character on the front cover of famitsu magazine and even though i would love for it to be dragoon i cant deny its very dark knightish. Not to mention that the reps stated the bow transforms so theres nothing to stop them from doing transforming spears.

The issue is, that posters like you want to sit here and claim information that IS known to exist, does not. Just because you have no knowledge of a fact does not mean it does not exist.

You are wrong. Thats a fact. What you are claiming has not been said, has in fact been said more then once. You may invest some time to do a little research to catch up on the facts of the situation.

when inviting a CON to a group, the expectation is that the CON will be healing. Whether or not you all agree, that is the reality of the situation. Now, I don't mind healing since it gets me a group pretty fast, however I did sign up for a BLM like class. In addition, the CON damage is extremely sub-par in comparison to nearly every other damage class. Frequently, mobs are dead before we are able to get off a couple casts. And the casts that do land do fairly weak damage in comparison to the damage output of arc, mrd, thm, etc. While no one is putting a gun to our heads insisting that we heal, it is clearly the best and most efficient usage of our class in a group setting. Ideally, we should not be taking up a damage spot in a group. Lastly, deeply rooted in FF tradition, the elemental spells and Ancient Magics are a defining characteristic of the BLM-like class. CON has a major identity crisis - we are the class with ancient magic that heals. Developers are not gods, contrary to what some of you may think, they are just ordinary people who also make mistakes occasionally. This class is one of those mistakes. Let us see if it can be fixed...

I actually remember reading this post and if this is the right post all i can imagine you could be suggesting is that by bayohne saying "paladin, etc" he was confirming the other jobs that have been mentioned in the interview were coming in the first round. That seems open to interpretation though. If you can point out an article/interview or a dev/rep post i've missed that confirms in words that white mage and black mage are coming in the first round i'll be happy to read/find it.

No disrespect but this might hurt some people. I wanted THM to WHM due to lore, but now that I've read enough info I believe WHM will go to CONJ and BLM will go to THM (they don't care about lore and they don't care about mages time and time again) The Jobs on the connect magazine were confirmed to be the job designs they have. I just don't think they spend time coming up with blm and whm gear concepts now, if they weren't going to be one of the original jobs released in 1.20. Yoshi already said in an interview rdm would be an advanced job, meaning maybe thm+conj=rdm, so we can throw that out as happening in the near future. So basically, to me, people who think blm/whm will both come to conj in 1.21, that just sounds really delusional. A lack of wanting to just say ok "looks like I lost conj will get whm and thm will get blm" dude conj lost as much as thm, I was pissed at first too, but damn all signs lead to this, we might as well adapt to an attitude of pessimistic defeat, but if it doesn't happen that way then we can be surprised, but if it happens the other way we'll already be used to the sadness. No "i told you so" to dish out in the first version but at least you can be pleasantly shocked.

Again this is just my opinion, I understand some people are more hardheaded then others, and feel they have some effect on things of this nature.

Yeah but like Cicatriz said they probbably were just talking about warrior which had been shown in concept art but they never gave us the name of it till today in that live feed. So thats my bad unless SE do come out with a 8th job lol.

So back to the DD mage thing....while we still could be the 'WHM' job unlockers, anyone go out and play with your Ancient Magics today? They work :D they really work....I was out DDing my THM friend super easy. Go have fun being the Damage Dealing Mage...just incase we're healers again in the next patch :P

Yeah, I was out playing around a bit, I was doing 750ish average with scourge II and banish II, and about 550ish with my con nukes. I am a little unclear how you are outdamageing your thm friend though. With my experience so far that doesn't seem accurte, but I could be missing something.

Well Elm. damage seems to work better now against mobs with weakness to it. And we were having the opposite in overal attack numbers. What little we could get done last night his banish/scorge II was pretty consistant in the 500-700 range, my rank II nukes were in the same range overall (600-750ish) with the occasional 800+. But the Ancient Magics....without any Ability boosts (like profundity,darkseal etc.) I was getting 1500+ a hit...the best one was over 1800 damage. On the little NM's (like slippery skykes, Queen bolete etc), that kind of damage was knocking over 1/3 to 1/2 their hitpoints off with one nuke. (Note I DID cast the appropriate CNJ DOT first (ie burn, choke etc.)

It would be interesting to see what the different race/sex/class stats break down to now. That might play a small part in DD differences. Also gear probably matters more now (although a lot on my CNJ gear is 'dated')

the high damage is only due to fighting enemy lower level than your class try doing 1.5k nukes on enemy higher than you it just tops for me at 500-750 with occasional 1k+ with full profundity and debuff on enemy for element. Its a real shame but banish and scourge spam still beats the conjurer nukes. Why look up weakness/change spells/etc when you can banish and scourge spam for the same and even more damage.

You mean like the beastmen in the strong holds i could do about 1.2K damage to with Ancient Magic? And still get about the same as the THMs with regular nukes. I don't have all updated equipment yet but that seems to be helping. Weapons might help too. (I use the ELM based wands and then cast the magic it favors as often as possible).

Anyway, this debate is off topic. Yes, damage is lower on 'at rank' mobs but it is for everyone. My CNJ was at least on par with the THM's in my party if not slightly out-damaging them.

Banish sucks unless you're killing undead stuff. Scourge is the best spamable nuke by far. It'll always outperform any of the elemental nukes. Now that shadowsear is buffable, you can put out some serious damage. In strongholds it'll do average 1.6k for me. Even more when my health is low or it crits. It'll do 2.3k. AM is on par with that damage. Normal buffed is around 1.7k and crits for 2.4k. It also has a lower recast so you can do it more.
