Based on the suits they look like Tarot cards, not so much standard 52 playing cards. We can only speculate at this point though.

This class has me excited. Aesthetically it looks brilliant, and what little we know about its mechanics are intriguing. Hopefully this is going to turn out to be my main come 3.0. (Can we have 3.0 now please?).
The class and job symbols are aesthetically very different. Class symbols are very accurate depicted to what their weapon/skills are and much more detailed, whereas job symbols are more representative of what the job is and are thus simplified but bolder. So no, the current Arcanist symbol would not work for Astrologian.
It looks gorgeous for sure. I'm guessing the cards are given in job quests, maybe similar to summons? Some of the animations seemed to strike me as very scholar-ish. Not sure why. I'm looking forward to giving it a try! ^^
A tarot card class, a gun class named Machinist, and a 'tanky' dark knight class? An expansion taking place in a grimy-looking, cold, feudal land of knights and honor?
Why yes, I am excited to play Tactics Ogre Online: Let Us Raid Together
This is true, the job symbols are noticeably different from the the class symbols. But I do think there is a bit of overlapping between Arcanist's symbol and Astrologist's perceived weapon. I guess we can't ask for the Astrologist's icon to be the current Arcanist's, but I do think that in light of the new job, Arcanist's icon is somewhat misleading.
I think the arcanist icon have more to do with their job as customs officials than with their weapons.
They have this icon already during 1.0 beta while their weapon was still something like a staff

Spring release probably means late spring release, so probably May timeframe. I'd expect late-January or February 2.5, and late-March 2.51
Super excited for another healing class. Now the real question is, do I take this job as my already established mage character or do I start a new game as an Au Ra for this job? I guess it depends on whether I'm able to start a new game as this job or if I have to wait like we did with the rogue.
Oh.... My..... God....... I want this so bad. I hope the mechanics of how this job plays is as good as this looks.
I will totally switch my main from scholar to this. So hyped!
It would be nice if we have to hunt and capture those cards during the job quests ^^
