I also stopped at the books stage - and went to the Soldiery weapon.
I wouldn't mind so much if the books were just the dungeons, leves and the monster grinding - but the fates... the length of wait on a good number of them is just such a long waste of time in camping in one spot x_x and it's not like you can do anything else while you're sitting there. Really wouldn't want to craft in the middle of some of those areas, just to do something.

My other jobs and alt character went straight to Solidery...

Progressing SCH and DRG, both at 600 lights, I'm nuts

DRG I have grinded in light farm parties in a few days so far.

SCH I have only been playing easy mode casual (roulettes, ST; no harder raiding or extremes) and started when my DRG was at book stage. So for a casual player light stage would take maybe half a year lol

Atm Ive got all my Relics at atma except my gae bolg animus. Atm casually gathering alexandrites from daily quest and occasional hunts to upgrade to the gae bolg novus while doing books for thyrus animus.

Honestly I wish theyd nerf the book stage (either 1 of each obective per book OR cut books from 9 to 4 instead) and alexandrite stages (either less alexandrites per upgrade or make alex drop rate the same as current atma rate from fates) since its easier to obtain a soldiery 110 weapon now at the very least expecially with ANOTHER quest coming soon for the relic.

I do like the general idea of the quest I just wish it would be easy enough to do to complete each step in a day or 2 per weapon EXCEPT the recent 2 stages (at this time the nexus and zodiac stages) so its easy for newer players to catch yp to the current stages or make it easier to keep up with multiple relics. Also would like it like this as the more jobs theyll add more than likely the more relics well need too.

I originally main'd DRG and at the time got it up to Nexus stage:

Then 2.4 hit and I made the switch to NIN and ground that up through the Relic stages and finally surpassing my DRG into Zodiac:

The Nexus and Animus grind was way worse the 2nd time round but Zodiac was actually quite nice compared to some other stages heh

I have a Lilith Rod and a Veil of Wiyu Novus. The grind is tedious and boring, but without it I'd probably never log in outside of raid hours.

I hate the book stage soo much... I already got one zodiac weapon but I want to get one for my summoner too. Not sure why since the books almost made me quit the game and now _I'm feeling that feeling again.
Sitting for hours to wait for a fate is not playing the game, and the game design is something I really disagree with. I disagree with it so much that I was about to end my sub cause I don't want to pay for something so incredibly stupid.

Ive been camping a fate, Surprise in upper la noscea, went to the bathroom, it popped, came back saw it had popped and some other were there to kill it too. So I was gone for 3 minutes and I ended up getting silver on the fate and it didn't count for my book. So now I need to camp it for another 3 hours...

Progressing right now. Starting to burn out as I did all 75 alex in a week and the light farming as DPS is hit or miss with the ques.

There's nothing wrong with FATEs as a thing, only requiring that you stand around waiting on a specific one to come along. At least with dungeons in the books, you can do other things whilst waiting on them. FATEs, though, are definitely the worst thing to wait around for because there's no clue or guarantees as to when said FATE will appear.

I can imagine the zerg of overgeared 50's leveling up with fates, and it makes me laugh.

3 - Stopped at the point of almost finishing my 3rd book when I realized that 2/3 FATEs for my book were FATEs that took sometimes 6 hours to spawn. I don't have that kind of time and being only 1/3 of the way into the books, that's kinda bullshit.

However, I plan to pick it up once SE nerfs the Animus grind. Oh, you don't think they will? I told people from the start of Atma farming when people realized the horrible drop rates that SE would nerf that and they never believed me. Sure enough....

Just like with the Coil nerfs when the next levels are patched in, basically the way to play this game as a casual is just to be patient and get the content when it becomes easy. I work 8 hours, I lift for about 2 hours a day 3-4 times a week and I don't want to spend my time waiting for FATEs.

Regarding the fates on the animus books - I must have been the only one who didn't mind them. After killing 100 mobs and doing a few outdated dungeons - Id typically grow tired of the game. I'd move to the fate location and start doing things around the house, work, etc. and woukd swing by whenever I heard the fate music come on. I feel that I could knock out all three while getting things done around the house. Was somewhat relaxing.

To some, it is more difficult to dedicate the time and effort.

My static could breeze through the coil turns in 30-60 mins. It just all depends.

I think Alex drops rates are worse than the pre-nerf Atma drop rates, I've only ever got 2 Alex from god knows how many FATE's :P

This is where I pretty much gave up myself. Too many books... too many tomes... to long of waits on stupid FATEs... It just got boring and idiotically grindy, plus, I dont really have the means or gil to finish the Alex stage, which will cost me tens of millions or more.

Getting said relic in 2.0 wasn't too bad, it was a decent challenge for the time.
Zenith was well just a tome cap.
Atma was a little bit of a pain, however nothing intensive, its not meant to be rushed in honesty, took me bout a week or two.
Animus took FOREVER, 1,500 myth for 1 BOOK then doing said book. thats 30 brayflox speed runs at the time.
Novus wasn't so bad, Hunts made it alot easier to manage, getting approx 15-20 Alexandrite a day.
Nexus was again, not too bad, just play how you normally would and boom it levels up.

1) Done it all until the very end (so far)!

... and looking forward to next stage. :)

It was a lot easier when B ranks gave 5 seals apiece. It's not much, but it adds up over time. I think the most I ever got in a day was 9, but then again I never hunted more than like 8 hours at a stretch, either.

Hunts are still a great resource for Alexandrite, grab a hunt LS and do as many A-S ranks that are available (Don't forget your weekly B rank)

A Ranks give 20 seals and 20 sol tomes.

10 A ranks gives you 1 Alex
20 A ranks gives you 2 alex + 1 Sol Map

Not a easy feat in the slightest but doing them inbetween other stuff can help speed things along. I'm only about a quarter of the way done the Alex grind but being able to get my daily + a few extra is nice.

it took me quite a few, honestly i wanted it out of the way so i put a bit of a grind into it. but when i did it mythology existed (r.i.p) but heres what i did.

Expert Roulette = 1 map.
Weekly Hunt = 50 seals.
A ranks = 20 Seals + 80 tomes
S Ranks = 50 seals. + 200 tomes
Mysterious Map exchange = 800 tomes.

1 Alexandrite = 200 seals.

So, for every 10 A ranks i'd kill, which is just short of 1 hunt cycle, id get 1 piece of alexandrite, and a map, of which then is a basic rinse repeat process, S ranks speed this up with the 50 seal bonus and the 200 tomes jump, Weekly does this also for your 50 seals. On the off day i didn't decide to fully grind in this process, id still grab 10 alexandrite. But, now mythology has gone, its a bit more tedious to get Soldiery for said alexandrite exchanges.

If you wanted to go even further, you can also obtain alexandrite from fates, simply do fates when not in said expert roulette, or waiting for another hunt cycle to activate

3. I lost all interest when materia got introduced for novus so animus was stopped in its tracks. I'm not lending credence to greed.

All done for me. I actually enjoy grinding and I wish there was even more of it!

It's just one of the normal red dyes (dalamud I think). Every dye looks metallic on that weapon.
