You aren't required to do coil. You aren't required to leave a city state. Mor Dhona? Not required. Additional jobs? Nah! Not required. In-game music...not required.
You know what's going to be next? Hairstyles! Why? because people want 'em.

People aren't complaining about the dyes on the Japanese forum though... I can only imagine a japanese guy reading our forums and laughing to himself.
There is abit of talk on the marriage costing money though, but the OP is getting the typical "Not pay 2 win, no worries" response too.
Items added to maps this patch: 1
Cash shop exclusive items added this patch(excluding eternal bond items and past seasonal items):

Please don't give us a response. The cash shop items really aren't a big deal and just a small percentage of the people that disagree are the ones posting.
They are simply stating that even though we pay a subscription the items in the item shop are not available to the user in game via quest or grind. The fact that they are limited only to the cash shop is what infuriates people.
Yesh... I see it, sadly, and I see it clear... If 99% of the database would be like you and me in that sense, probably these things wouldn't be happening. but as long as there's at least one 20% or so supporting those things, we are only going to have more and more... Retainers seemed to be just the start.
While I don't mind, to be hoonest, to see certain mounts or minions there... Now... NOW DYES?!..... Oh my... The happiness to see that Ninja's nerf is not so much, and that my lolDRG finally has some buffs is... Frustrated by the optional items.
Posting to confirm that I like minions and mounts and costumes but feel no requirement whatsoever to buy any of these things from the cash shop.
Whether you hate this or not, please stop using "optional" for everything in the game...
Of course everything is optional, but you should know what people mean. As of now, except for the wedding clothes (don't wanna wear that anyway), I have the exact same options for vanity as someone who buys everything in the cash shop... And while I can understand that some people want the dyes, I don't think I would use those dyes even if I had them. There are no vanity gear in the cash shop, and nobody have really cared for the minions and mounts in cash shop so far.
I actually feel just as gated from the metallic dyes we have right now, cause I'm very unlucky and can't seem to get them...
If you are one of the few that really must have the dyes, and don't see them as optional, then just buy them... Have to see the prices and stuff, but if it's not expensive, then you should not see it as a waste of money like many others...
Also, just because you really want something badly, doesn't make it any less optional... I love golf, and want new clubs very badly every time there is a new good one, that doesn't mean I have no option to not get them...
no they are not popular, i did post on another thread an interesting subject about the % of people buying stuff in the Free 2 play model, showing that only 2-3% of the whole playerbase really purchase stuff. but still this model survive, even if it's the biggest scam of the time. since the name it's a lie, the game is never free.
even if on the 2.000.000 subs, only 20.000 people buy sleipnir, they will still earn a lot of cash... since it's about 480.000USD, and it's only for 1% of the player base... it cost them almost nothing and bring them a loooot of cash... then if this 20.000 people continue to buy every month new content added to the cash shop, it's more and more free cash earned... and it's still 1% of the player base.
the point is, we can complain all we want, even with 20.000 people buying the cash shop is only benefit.
and about the fact that the pro cash shop did become more vocal, it's more about the fact that a lot of the pro cash shop that was heard since the start of the eternal bonding stuff have very very very low count of post on the forum. they rarely go over 100 post some have even less than 50 post count, meaning this people that are fast to answer are only there for defend the cash shop.
indeed the count don't make them thought about the situation less important, but it's strange to see a loot of pro cash shop appear suddenly. *shrugs*
your golf club analogy is so wrong...clubs would make more sense compared to say a computer or ps4, as in you own them...the subscription to the game would be more like the monthly dues to your country club...unless of course you own your own golf course, which to that I say bravo
Those are all OPTIONAL items right?
Because we have so many dyes, clothes and minion in the game available to us, these are completely OPTIONAL!!!
Well, at this moment i'm just waiting for the moment they say "A Itemlvl X set has been added to the OPTIONAL item shop, since there's an equivalent ingame this one is completely OPTIONAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAL.
Then we'll see the ppl who only care about battle content start complaining and remember, that would not be pay to win because, since there would be equivalent or maybe even better sets ingame, it would be completely OPTIONAL!!!!!!!
PD; Seems I have to update my signature.
these threads have just become worse and worse to read every day.
Seriously. Read the darn ToS. read everything the staff has said. minions are vanity items. They have been classified as vanity by Yoshi P. and vanity has been classed as cash shop fodder.
you already have your official response, stop wasting the Community members time trying to get them to repeat themselves, and let them worry about things that actually matter, like game breaking bugs.
secondly
let me correct this:
pretty good percentage
Continue to lay back and take SE's ever erecting love for micro transactions. Continue to accept anything and everything they decide to spend time creating and slapping a real money price tag. Remember goys, you're "helping pay for the servers." Why bother spending the thirty days you subscribed for doing quests and content to unlock minions, mounts, and enhanced versions of in game events when you can simply throw money at Japanese businessmen?
You "correct" my post by making an apples to oranges comparison?
Map rewards are the items most like what they added to the cash shop as "exclusives"
My point still stands that these items could have been better used to revitalize stale content like that one map item supposedly is intended to do.
Standard metrics for F2P game is that around 10% (of actually playing) pays money and around 1-2% pays A LOT of money.
And those 10% still much more than cash shop haters as majority of players just don't really care whether cashshop in game or not (none of my in-game friends really care about this enough to affect their decision to play in any way)
You should be gratefull than, because game gets additional money for improvement and it is someone else who pay the bill.
Number of post in no way meaningful, the crowd that like to sit on the forum have similar mentality and thus cannot represent game population as a whole. The number of low post members in resistance shows that there are a lot of resistance outside usual forum crowd. A lot of people take game less serious to get so much emotionally invested, so they not go to the forum to share their opinion (just sometimes read something, look at info etc) and for them such hard push against cash shop is an offense, as for them buying stuff in cash shop ruin nothing in their casual play on one hand, on other hand they do want some fluffy stuff without being gated behind 5 mil gil pricetag, which is just unattainable for many.
Would've been nice if perhaps they added like, 6 new dyes at once; 3 in game, and 3 paid extras. Putting it all on the store is annoying!
So the platinum wedding costs around 30€ , hmm thats probably a bit less then the expansion is gona cost.
Looks like the OP is not amused.
Says a lot that the first major patch since the addition of the cash shop is about 2/3rds cash shop related. You'd have to be blind not to see where this is going.
So much whining...
The greatest feedback Square Enix gets is their sales numbers, if you don't like the cash shop, don't buy from it, and if you are correct in assuming that everyone agrees with your opinion, then no one will buy from the cash shop and Square Enix will get rid of it. But posting feedback in the forums is not going to do jack if in the end people are buying from the cash shop anyways.
Entitlement...it's spreading.
Are you kidding me? What do you think a sub is supposed to be for? It's supposed to entitle you to all the content the game has to offer. Why are we paying a sub if they're locking everything "optional" behind the cash shop now? Whether it's optional or not, content is content.
The cash shop really is affecting my motivation to keep playing and paying for this game. I just can't help thinking that our family puts 240 euros a year in to the game while SE keeps locking out stuff that could and should be included in the subscription fee. It's not a lot of money in itself, but it starts to feel more when updates like this leave a sour taste in your mouth.
One can claim that it's only "optional content". We're playing a game, all the content is optional. And yes, everything that is in game is content. They might as well lock extreme primals behind a paywall because they don't really offer an advantage (as they're lower item level content than the current highest one). Or all relics after your first one. Or new jobs because you can progress in the game just as well with the originals. This argument could be discussed but it would require people to start defining what counts as "mandatory", what "optional", and basically, what is important content and what isn't.
One can also say all complainers should just quit. Well, not many games would get anywhere if every time someone is upset with a single feature they'd just leave and not say a word. It would also leave the developers wondering. I would like to think that there would still be developers that would be interested in hearing what their players think.
This is exactly how I feel.
It would just be a much more customer friendly solution. And it would not keep me from buying things in the Mogry Kiosk, simply because my time and patience is limited and also my retainers are stupid D:
I would also much appreciate a gifting option for the items in the Mogry Kiosk and also for Crysta!! Because I have friends that really can't buy anything, sometimes it's just because there is no proper payment option available in some countries and I would like to be able to gift them Crysta and Mogry Kiosk stuff...
Every dollar you spend in the cash shop is just going to more cash shop. Not the game.
To get this all started SE had to take normal sub money and pay a dev to make some cash shop items to begin with. So we all somehow paid for this cash shop even if we did or did not want it. Doesn't matter but once that was set in motion it appears it will only get worse. All i see now is more and more cash shop items and I agree with the players who are saying that content is everything to this game and not just the latest coil or ilvl gear you go and buy with tomes. Final fantasy games are not played by their gear alone. They invoke a full immersion experience unlike any other game.
People complained about minions in the cash shop. So they added more to the cash shop.
Sounds like a response to me.
Maybe the sales wouldn't be so high if you guys didn't constantly advertise the cash shop all over the forums.
My girlfriend has been playing with me since launch. I just asked her if she knew about the cash shop. She said "what is a cash shop."
I never would have known about it either, but I read about it on the forum.
Edit: I'm not for it or against it, I'm indifferent. I probably won't buy anything though. I'm cheap.
None of those items are required.
Fact: Cash shop wouldn't exist if it didn't make money.
Fact: It won't go away till people stop spending money on it.
The only solution is for people to stop using it. Since that won't happen it's time you guys get used to it's existence.
It's funny that you cash shop crybabies create threads every single day about it. The cash shop is not going anywhere. Either pay for something you really must have, or don't.
I'm aware of what SE has decided a sub gives us. I'm talking about what a sub is -supposed- to give you access to. That being the game. Not part of the game, the full game. Why are we paying a monthly subscription if it doesn't give us access to everything the game has to offer?
