If your only getting IQ 7 stacks for the tokens, you are surely doing something wrong and I would assume your "base rotation" is at fault.

For my master 2 books, all of the crafts I finished were on 11 stacks, 10 or less and I'd reclaim.

Going to have to agree, while landing 11+ touches does involve some luck, if you're averaging 7, you're doing something horribly wrong, and it's not ToT procs.

No, I don't have a 90~95% droprate on atma, so why am I able to HQ at that rate if they are the same? Crafting is a process not a rotation, and I like that 4* separates those who understand and have done research from those who just copy and paste macros from the internet.

Hasty Touches with SHII active. Granted I don't run into this every time, but it still happens and I end up reclaiming because of it. I got 2 books done last night after around 9-12 reclaims, those from being 28~33 steps with 7-8 stacks of IQ.

This is only 2 of the 6 crafts I crafts I could've done before I ran out of materials due to botched reclaims, but they more or less have the same end result of not having enough stacks at the end, averaging the 7-8 like I mentioned.

I need 6 steps to finish the craft with my current craftsmanship, and this doesn't change with craftsmanship buff, so I instead opt out to use a CP food. I try to keep the last step to finishing the craft to be CSII so I don't need an uptime on SH

I watched this and am a little shocked and enlightened. You have 382 starting CP and that is pretty low considering the cap is 398. I will list everything I would do differently for the first synth and why below in an Edit.

1.) You have 382 CP at the start, this is very low imho and drastically effects step 4.

2.) After CZ and IQ I would use SH2 and not just go into PbP. This allows for a chance at ToT and uses up a stack of CZ, possibly two if you get ToT proc. Also a failed PbP is a massive waste of 15 CP at such an early point in the synth.

3.) You used RS until 2 points from finish when I would have stopped one earlier. I require 2 PbP 2 RS 2 CS2 in order to finish MB2 synths. I believe you should get the offhand artisan tool before doing these as I get 129 for RS and you only get 120 and are unable to complete without 3 RS.. They are 3 star and do not require having these books in order to make them. SE even recommended using the new gear available in the patch notes.

4.) So, stopping after 2 RS I would HT until SH2 wore off or CZ wears. Refresh CZ when it wears. If 30 or 20 dura when SH2 drops, use cs2 to bring you one synth from finishing then mm2.

5.) Here, I usually have about 190 CP or higher and that puts me in line with doing a third CZ+mm2. You have drastically less, partially due to your low starting CP. In my case I would SH2+HT until sh2 or cz wore off. In your case, I would just ht hoping for ToT procs letting you get that third CZ+mm2. If I did not get it, I would reclaim.

Making the Master 2 books takes both skill and luck, but I would say it is about 65% skill, more if you factor knowing when to reclaim into skill. I just did my WVR book the other day. I got up to 74% HQ twice with Byregot's done on a normal condition. This is with no supras or any of the new gear.

The real problem with the new content is not the difficulty of crafting master books with old equipment, but the difficulty/expense of getting the new equipment. In the patch notes, they recommended getting the new equipment to increase the chance of success. Only the best crafters were supposed to be able to do this with old equipment. Most people were supposed to get the new offhands and supras first. I don't think they realized doing those tools would cost 5-10 million Gil per class (closer to 5 mil now, but Ehcatl sealants have come down a lot from the 800k they were a week after patch).

If anything, the worst aspect of implementation was the difficulty and expense of the new tools. That has created the problem of people not being able to afford the latest tools and having trouble getting their master 2 books. Most of those people don't realize that there is no point in doing the master 2 books before getting the tools because you can't do any of the new recipes anyways. Me? I've done two master 2 books without the new tools simply for the fun, challenge, and my pride as a crafter, not because it benefits me.

5. And this is pretty much where I get at. I'm crafting these hoping I get enough goods to increase my CP count, as well as successful HTs to build up HQ stacks and have a fairly good amount of quaility at the end. Having more starting CP and craftsmanship to reduce the steps is just buffer to the process to me.

In the end though, I have nothing against this sort of crafting process (changing up what you do based on what you get). It's just that it's not nearly as bad for 3 or 4* crafting because the HQ pools aren't absurdly high to get a reasonably good HQ rate.

Okay, I missed that you used 3 PbP in the video. That 15 cp + only having 382 CP puts you 27 CP below what my cul was at when I did these (392 starting CP). It had 436 craft, artisan tool+offhand with craft+6+5+5 cp+3. Body with Control+4 craft 5+5. Supra is not required for these at all. Cul I only bothered doing to experiment with lower stats to help do these for my cousin without him needing to fully gear up first.

I use 25 of that CP on sh2(sh2 in case excellent pops), still leaves me 2 above you and gives me an extra ToT chance and no 90% fails. Most of the time, if no ToT, I would do CZ, IQ, SH2, PbP, PbP, RS, RS, HT with that first SH2. Next I would SH2, HT, HT, CZ, MM2, HT. Then CS2 (puts me one from finishing. SH2, HT, HT, HT. Usually (about 80% of the time) I would have refreshed CZ before now and have 160-250cp left to MM2 again. If not, I would have skipped CZ and just did the third mm2 and HT spam until 20 dura and either finish or reclaim depending on IQ.

Rath has summed things up well and given some good pointers.

Basically your gear is less than ideal (CP is your most important stat and really needs to be maxed) and your base rotation needs to be improved (imo).

buddy if you think your luck is bad try mine 180 specs only 7 master demis, i gave up, it was so time consuming i couldnt do anything for days, so i switched to BSM , logging and mining few minutes a day to desynthsis forager tools , its much slower yeah but at least i get to do a dungeon or something also they drop up to 3 master demi , idk if its true or not but from what i see drop rate is much higher , had a friend that got 6 of them from 2 tools few days ago!

PS i got my first master demi from specs after 48 try!
