Shiva Primal theme is amazing!

J-Rock is terrible.

the second part was rather weird at first, but it grew on me, now its acceptable.

Except that the vocalist, "Adele", is not Japanese and the song is sung in English, so its not technically J-rock is it?

english lyrics or not, the actual music is incredibly close to J-rock.

I respectfully disagree, but you are entitled to your own opinion :) Like I said in an earlier post, not everyone shares the same taste in music. I for one hate Jazz ^^; But I did want to point out to those that didn't get to see the London Fanfest concert. I think a lot of folks thought she may have been Japanese since she has an accent and it can be difficult to hear what she's saying in the song. I know not what nationality she is, but she's definitely not Japanese :)

On that I do agree a bit. It didn't quite fit the "battle" itself even though I still like the song. The phase one intro is beautiful though! I feel like an eerily cold, slower tempo and icy sounding song would have been a better fit.

Second part of the theme feels like punk rock. It's pretty good on its own, but similar enough to the Leviathan and Titan themes that I sorta feel like they're getting too comfy with the style. What defines the Primal themes, to me, is their unexpectedness. Ramuh's eerie, supenseful melody, King Mog's goofy Halloween Town tribute, Titan's raging thrash-rock, and honorable mention for Ultima Weapon's final theme which...man, how to even describe it, it's like a exultant Olympic Cirque du Soleil dance finale.

This entire thread is so subjective.

As someone who plays harp and violin, and is big on "classical" music, I really like the second part of the theme. I like the first part as well. I didn't do the story up to that point yet so I don't know any of the Eorzea lore surrounding Shiva, but I feel like another poster said where something a little more befitting for the whole cold and icy theme would be nice. But again, I like both parts of the theme. It's catchy and I like the words, but I did grow up with grunge/punk/hard rock in the family so I've picked up a lot of acquired tastes most people seem to look at as rubbish :p with that said I agree Mahri as well!

First part sounds good and appropriate.

However this "teenage rebellion punk crap" is some of the most hideous so called "music" I have ever heard.
Whomever committed the crime of putting this BS into the game deserves to get whacked with a Guitar made of ice for every Shiva kill that happens.

Hell, if I were Shiva I'd commit suicide upon entering Phase II, just so I don't have to listen to that "music" anymore.

I enjoy both parts but the 2nd more than the 1st. The song isn't Jpop or Jrock. It's punk and, given how some words like "Reaper" are pronounced, I'd say Euro-punk.

Love the 1st part. After the transition its just friggen terrible. I have no earthly idea who approved of letting that pass the mark and be placed into the game, I mean if you were watching the stream during the preview of the song at NA fan-fest the reaction was very very weak as most people thought the song from the trailer was the theme and that was it.

All I have to say is that if you actually like the 2nd part then you might need to get your ears checked as its pretty much garbage from the struggling engrish, to the terrible and uninspired lyrics. To be honest I muted my sound when i did the fight on HM in the story soon as i heard it :/
