I agree, I wish they'd have made it so that any instance counted towards the total. Has anyone tried to request this change? (What am I saying? I'm sure they have.)
I'm trying to keep my hopes up for DRK and all, and I expect a lot of people to try it out, but then I also expect them to drop it just as quickly when they realize that tanking is very 'weighty'. Not necessarily hard, but it's really a drain. You have to focus so much more and every wrong move you make is all the more obvious.

When I do experts or trails i usually pick a tank to do it to reduce queue time so i have my tanks around i120... too bad nothing but end game credit counts towards these mounts. there really isn't a shortage of tanks engame on my server and it is full of tanks on PVP.. especially as a flame there are even too many... I don't anticipate a shortage of DRK, so why is it only end game tanks get these mounts? other than the unicorn for the healer nothing has. Shouldn't all jobs have a mount? The dodore mount would have been a good one for DRK but people already have something like that from veteren. I'd like to see Ninja get a Twintania mount, since I play Ninja and all we got since the release is a nerf to Raiton so Monks could do more DPS than us.

i want a giant tarantula to be the dark knight's mount i feel they will fit the spiders.

I'm just glad they are adding it from the Beginning. Pretty annoying to have done EX primals hundreds of times when they were hot and have them not count towards the PLD/WAR mounts.

My only hope now is that the same fights count for the DRK mount and not just the new lvl60 stuff.

agree 100% every class should have atleast 1 unique mount even gathering classes deserve a mount of thier own crafters can share thiers :P

The CNJ mounts served as an experiment to make people running low level dungeons as healers. It worked, so then they applied it on a bigger scale to tanks. To be able to get to your tank job to do endgame content you have to level up a tank, doing dungeons as well. Even if there are some people that farmed their way to the mount that didn't make it useless as there are people who found out tanking isn't that bad. Dark Knight is a very popular job, it may be a reason why they've been made tanks, but even though their popularity will be limited to those who are willing to tank. Keeping the Tankless job achievement as it is not only is an incentive to players to try tanking, it's a reward for main tanks as well, and no matter how many will not be tanking again after they get their mount, someone will and so the mount reward served its purpose.

Anyone are free to ask for a special mount for their specific class/job obviously, but please, don't argument it saying the Tankless Job has no use.

1. No, you don't. It's entirely feasible to level up a class without setting a foot inside a dungeon on that particular class. You can even gear them up via gear and tomestones earned through other classes.
2. No amount of 'muh darkness' cool-factor will fix the problem that the MMO genre in general has regarding a lack of tanks. It may help a tad, but it will be so negligible that, within a month or two, we will see no difference in the queues. They may spike, but they will fall again because it's human nature to take the path of least resistance. In this case, it's DPS.
3 (and 4). People will argue whatever they want. I'm not saying that it's entirely worthless, because it's not. This is an MMO and every carrot-on-a-stick serves at least a minimal purpose of getting you to play longer to achieve it. What I (and several others) are saying is that it's implemented poorly. My biggest gripe with what you said is what I've underlined. I'm not saying get rid of Tankless Job by any means, but why not have it be, say, 'X number of completed, random duty-finder duties'? I feel like that example alone would solve a lot more problems, allow for people to start earning their rewards right away and thus make them less inclined to level via FATEs, and be more on point than running T4 over and over again.


To keep this post on topic, a giant spider, bat or a stag beetle or something would be awesome. Hell, I'd take anything but an edited version of something we already have since WAR and PLD have entirely different models from the ground up. A recolored wolf or couerl for the shiny new snowflake class? The forums would never hear the end of it.
And for the love of god, no more horses.

I suggest brightly glowing pink ponies, to "act as beacons to guide the meek through darkness."

It would be great to add mounts for each class, though it would be hard to think what to implant something like:

- Coerthas "white" wolf for Dragoons.
- Wild Coeurl for Monk or Ninja.
- Atomos ?
- Golem mount for SCH/SMN.
- Some mechanical mount for the new mechanist.

I agree we already have many horses in-game, but we can add a Flying horse this time (Pegasus).

I can see it being probably some kind of Dark Wolf. If you think about it;

Paladin = Pride. Lions are looked at as embodiments of pride. The same way Paladins are, who swear oath to whatever it is they server, including their own pride as a paladin.

Warrior = Rage. In many cases, if you see an angry bear, you'd probably run, or if you're a quick thinker, play dead. If you see a pissed off Warrior, you'd probably do the same.

Dark Knight = If you read the Dark Knight description, they're basically rebels from the law. Those who've succumbed to darkness, and now guide the meek through the dark. They're calm unlike Warriors, probably have pride as a dark knight, but not prideful like a Paladin. When I think of some type of dark or shadow wolf, I see the same traits. A lone wolf who stands out from the packs of regular wolves, and does things their own way. And then when you think of desperation, people say a wolf (Or a coyote as well) will chew their own arm/leg off if needed in attempt to free itself/escape (Even if that isn't true). A Dark Knight will sacrifice it's own health and give further into the darkness to destroy it's opponent.


But if not that, then other things I can think of are some kind of black panther, or even a new creature that isn't something that is actually real. Something similar to a behemoth, just not a behemoth. Something dark, has horns, etc.

Waiting on confirmation of the newest pvp armor scans. If they go by past themes, the DRK mount could be tied to their pvp animal.

True but we also have two gobbue, two choco's, and two magitek reapers, point being a slight alteration of the current would not be so bad. Again though we don't have confirmation yet so it's still up in the air.

That's kinda my thought too. It might be a differently skinned Behemoth mount for all we know

We already have Chocobo aswell, a few of them actually. So could be another smaller version of a Behemoth.

Made me laugh a little because a friend of mine showed honey badgers to me and I'm rather happy that they don't seem to reproduce like rabbits...otherwise we would have quite a world wide problem XD

Anyway...in that regard I do have to quote said friend on your suggestion:

1st what would a honey badger need armor for?
2nd who would've been able to put the armor on the honey badger...?"

I'm betting on this. Warlion and bear both have no saddle, so I'm thinking Drk will get a behemoth that's ridden bare-back. A smaller version than the veteran rewards behemoth mount -- no saddle, I'm guessing

edit: thx for finding the image, have only ever seen it before in the liveletter when yoshiP held up a slide

There's this PVP gear too but they have no weapons so not sure if the DRK is the behemoth or the dragon one
