Can you please bring back the gamepad controls that were used in 1.0??
Can you please bring back the gamepad controls that were used in 1.0??
I would like to know if Yoshi-p would make the bards stronger and or will there be anything new you guys will be doing for bards like myself?
For Seekers of the Sun, particularly males, who were not born and raised in the tribal system -- such as those who hail from Limsa Lominsa -- are there any established conventions for their last names? Do they just pick them at random? Do they follow the traditionally female convention of taking their father's first name as their last name?
As a role-player who has a character like this, I'd love some clarification!
For version 1.0/Legacy players like myself who didn't satisfy the requirements to get the special 'Legacy' opening and storyline throughout the game, will there ever be an explanation as to where we were and what we were doing for the five year break between the Calamity and the start of ARR's story? Although I've came up with a backstory to kind of 'explain' what happened to my character, it still doesn't seem entirely convincing to me, so even a small note like "your character was injured and spent the intervening time with amnesia recovering in another city" will go a long way. Thanks! :)
Among the survivors of the Scion massacre is Arenvald, the half Ala Mhigan/half Garlean Scion. Will this person play a role in the future, or will he simply remain behind in the Waking Sands, without a chance to revenge his fallen comrades?
This question has much more to do with the Localization than it does Lore itself so I apologize if it is out of place.
I am curious as to why Spell Names were given a II and III name, instead of their _ra and _raga name, that has since FF8 become the norm. It creates a inconsistency since II / III has not been used since FF7.
Also since Fire and Fira sound like different spells, and they behave differently. While with Fire and Fire II, it implies that Fire II is an upgraded version of Fire which is very much so not the case with many of the spells.
Can you explain the relationship between the Sultansworn and the Syndicate (if any)?
We all know the Empire has access to firearms; that their higher-ups' blades/spears/hammers(?!) have guns attached to them seems to be thematic by now. But we also know that Eorzea has some access to firearms; aside from Admiral Merlwyb's Death Penalty and Annihilator, we also see other handguns and even a few long guns throughout Limsa and outside of it (as stolen supplies in Sahagin Tribe quests). Aside from the gameplay limitation of not having a class using guns yet, does the rest of Eorzea not have access to gunsmithing techniques? Or are guns rare enough even in La Noscea that even their military cannot field something like a musket or arquebus regiment?
There's one thing I would like to ask of the Main Scenario writers: in 2.4 I'd like to see some sort of confirmation that the core Scions still trust and support and care about one another. Throughout most of the past patches most of their interactions seemed to consist of a lot of taking the piss out of each other. Especially Thancred. (Speaking of which, his characterization in 2.3 was iffy at best. I humbly ask that the writers give him something better to do than ogling F'lhaminn or Higiri. His character arc in 2.0, combined with the backstory that came to light in 2.2, was subtle, sympathetic, and even relatable, so please don't mess him up!) Maybe a sort of 'Aww, look, they really are friends and not just colleagues!' moment.
Also, more on Urianger. The finale of the Coil storyline is almost here, so this is a wonderful opportunity to give him some excellent development!
Is it possible to answer anything concerning Odin's lore and past? So far as we know, he's just a wandering Elder Primal who was sealed away years ago and broke free after the Calamity.
Before he was sealed, did he have followers like the other Primals? Do those followers still exist today? And why does he take the faces of the people who land the killing blow? Is he like the other Primals, who aid their followers in times of peril, or is he just out looking for a fight? I'd like to know more about him, he's the only Primal with very little information on him.
Also I'd like to know more about the Keepers of the Moon. How their clans are structured and what their lifestyle is like. There is such little information on them as well.
I noticed that we only get to see hyur midlander chilldren. What about children from the other races?
Why is Terra's Theme from FFVI considered Lore breaking but Battle on the Big Bridge from FFV, Battle Theme from FFII, and Crystal Tower from FFIII considered okay?
I'd like more information on -how- Eorzeans worship the Twelve. Such as is there an overarching religion with it's own observances and holidays or is worship left up to an individual. And there is some debate on if most Eorzeans only revere one or if they observe them all. Can we get a bit more clarity on these points?
We know a lot about the Primals, but there just isn't a lot of information about the Twelve - not even any stories of them interacting with each other, or mortals, or anything. Can we get more information on them personality wise and their worship structure, up to and including death of the worshiper?
I look forward to hearing these questions in this thread answered at Fanfest! =D
Edit: Balmung is all over this thread. Wassap Balmung.
It's been stated that more of the 1.0 storyline will be cleared up going forward, so far we've learned about Ascilia and F'lhaminn's relationship and what happened after the Corguevais ordeal. Will Corguevais' identity be explained in a future quest? i.e. will we learn that he was actually a Garlean spy and will be be told if he's killed by the Lala Twins or if he escaped?
Will future Imperial Legions be allusions to previous Final Fantasy games? Like how the VIIth legion was to FF VII.
Will the identity of Warburton's assassin finally be revealed in 2.4 or will it remain to be continued, or in a different storyline with Minfilia revealing what she saw as Ascilia and frightened her so?
In the CG Midlander thread Ferne dropped a Lore bomb on us telling us about the Ascians and their being shadowless. He then hinted we could go back to all the cutscenes from 1.0 and look for people without shadows, well we did and the only character we found was Travanchet and his was way more obvious with his own music. Was this just a wild goose chase or was there truly another hidden Ascian that we missed?
What, exactly, are the mechanics behind the "Raise"-style spells available to players and seemingly other experienced conjurers/white mages/et cetera?
It seems fairly clear that the healers of the realm cannot simply restore the deceased to true life at will - in the conjurer questline, Sylphie fails to raise a fallen Wood Wailer minutes after his fatal wound, and Edda's infamous attempts at raising the long-deceased (to say nothing of the nature of the injury!) led to piles of undead horrors and attendant voidsent. And yet, simultaneously, the ability to Raise in combat seems to be somewhat in-lore - the debuffs act as though the event occurred, and the same conjurer questline makes it clear that Sylphie could have conceivably saved that man's life with more proper training.
So what precisely are the "magical mechanics" of such spells in lore? Are they essentially "magical defibrillators" - spells that, while incapable of truly "raising the dead", still prevent "proper" death in a body which is suffering various kinds of organic/cardiovascular failure? Is the one "Raise" spell on our bars meant to cover a whole battery of advanced healing litanies for major injuries, from non-fatal skeletal fractures to more potentially lethal organ-puncturing wounds? For that matter, how potent are the Cure-type spells - do they simply soothe injury or are we talking "cuts seal shut before your eyes" levels of power, even with Cure 1? Also, how widely available is this sort of magic to the average Eorzean? Has it increased the standard of "medicine" in Eorzea and beyond?
Will we ever learn what happened to Damielliot, the frail young elezen boy from the Alchemist Guild? Was he possibly killed in the Calamity?
Were the Twelve more active and interactive with mortals in eras past?
Will we ever be given days of the week (like FFXI)? The Lore is already established with the Five Ages and I think newer players would be surprised and enhanced with the Five Ages being added to Eorzean daily life routines.
The Elementals are said to have diminished in Power from 1.0 to 2.0, will they ever get that power back?
Speaking of Power, who is stronger? The Twelve, The Primals, or the Elementals? All of them seem to serve almost the same function.
"The Order of Nald'thal is a group of thaumaturges who operate out of the Arrzaneth Ossuary in Ul'dah. They write laws in Ul'dah." Is a small lore bit I discovered on the gamerescape wiki when I came across the Order mentioned in an alchemy levequest. How does this group fit into the powerplay between the monetarists/syndicate/sultanate? Who has the most influence over what laws are written and who writes them?
Can we get a bit more information on how potions work? In the low lvl quests we are given a chain to give a potion to an injured party. So they are more than just a gameplay mechanic. But how effective are they when compared to say... cure or physic?
What's the story behind the Thaumaturge guild leader's eye? I've noticed by clipping the model somewhat that Cocobuki does have another, but it never blinks and is generally pretty spooky. Is there something canonically special about it?
Do Lalafells benefit more from training and grow much stronger faster than other races? Lalafell smallfolk are so small and frequently preyed upon and yet with some adventuring or proper training they can become strong enough to go toe-to-toe with beasts and other less diminutive races despite their portable size!
Can we see more of the duskwight ruins or history of their underground cities?
first question: in Ishgard its newer city-state will there be a back story that talks about why they wasn't in the calamity and how they survived. will there be housing added in ishgard later on? second question: in mor dhona we saw alittle bit on lore cutscene about the wyvern and empire fight over the lake but will there be a backstory on it more and will it turn into a dungeon later on to tell if empire truely killed that lord of wyverns. last question: in main story we met ala mhigo people and barely got lore out of it will we see the city-state soon helping the people reclaim there home back from the empire and will we see the king of garlean there or in the 3rd city-state after ishgard and ala mhigo.
Back in version 1.0, there was a quaint hamlet nestled away in the coerthas western highlands called Falcon's Nest. Will we ever be able to visit there again? Also, what became of it and it's residents?
In 1.0, an Ascian was seen briefly during a scene. It was a large robed skeletal creature that kind of resembled a reaper. However, with the relaunch of the game, Ascians are now shown as robed Hyur with masks, even when in their own dimension. Is there a lore reason behind this, or was this purely an art direction change?

Cloud of Darkness
Cloud of Darkness was one of the hardest Final Fantasy bosses in history. Even with 24 players, she should still be very challenging. Do you plan on allowing this battle to be very challenging for players?
We are severely missing any opportunity of 24-man content to be hard, and we've had plenty of content in the last two Crystal Tower dungeons. Please give us this opportunity to make this very challenging!
Ted Woolsey, whether intentionally or not, changed the face of Final Fantasy VI for players in its original English translation on the Super Nintendo. This is what brought many console fans to the Final Fantasy multiverse.
We've seen "Phantom Train" and "Atma" in the game. Will we see more of his translation references in the game?
"Son of a Submariner"
"Pearl"
"Merton"
"The Goddess Statues"
"Magitek mayhem"
"Oh My Hero"
"N.o. E.s.c.a.p.e."
Kind of a silly question, but will Rhoswen and Carvallain ever get their act together concerning each other? lol They were adorable in the Valentione festival quests and Admiral Merylwyb's Tale from the Calamity. I'd definitely be interested in seeing their story develop more.
What exactly is/was the Path of the Twelve and the Circle of Knowing?
What is / was the word in the Miqo'te ancestral language which starts with U and means Drake?
Was Ramuh the Primal that halted the Garlean advancement from Ala Mhigo into the rest of Eorzea? The Sylphlands in both 1.0 and 2.0 were northeast shroud which would best connect to roads leading to Ala Mhigo so the proximity makes sense.
To build upon a previous question, we know that Black Magic was used to summon Diabolos on the Amdapori but we don't know exactly who did it. It's known that Amdapor and Nym were at war, but it was never made clear if it was Nym who utilized Black Magic or another unknown civilization. We do see a few black mage tonberries during the level 50 SCH job quest, which is odd given the current focus on SCH magicks.
Did Nym use Black Mages alongside their Scholars in battle? If so, were they the ones who summoned Diabolos?
What exactly is the deal with Odin? It's well established that each primal "must needs" have two conditions fulfilled before it can be summoned. First, the Aetheric Crystals, to grant it energy, and then "Faith / Prayers" from believers. Who is summoning Odin and for what purpose? Who is "Urth"?
Is it truly the "real" Odin, or is it merely an Avatar of the real Elder Primal that has yet to be revealed. Elder Primals are portrayed as VERY POWERFUL in lore. Bahamut is the most notable one here. One Elder Primal, and he essentially destroyed 50% of Eorzea with his Megaflare. Is Odin on a similar level of power?
