personally I'd rather have one of each of the rare dyes over just the gold, but even acknowledging the mistake & being open with the community is good enough for me. there's not many developers who'd do that.

You should be happy it took ONLY 5 days to find the bug(considering it could take more), so stop fretting over a bit of time.You won other things from the explorations that might even helped you more than some vanity items.
Also about the reward.What's the point to get more of an item you might had dropped only once or none in these 150 explorations you did.I think 4 is a good amount considering the rarity of the item.

And considering that you can only dye the Head, Chest, Legs and Gloves (maybe shoes)

I laugh at the people who are whining about not being able to sell their dyes at a high price. I would have undercut people that did that anyway and I already did with the white dye ;)

"Everyone will have it, therefore I don't want it." You would have said the same thing anyway when everyone eventually got all the gold dyes they wanted through RNG. Novus isn't even special anymore and no one should really care about having something no one else has.

They do have a valid point here. That is a big chunk of seals, time, etc. wasted on this. Yeah its nice they are reimbursing for this but still.....

I do not look down on anyone. However, you take something rare and then a bug makes it more rare. People invest time in getting them to no avail. Your best fix is to give it to everyone? IMO they should have said nothing and let it work itself out. I think that the 4 pots to everyone is gonna make everyone gold but thats just my opinion.

As much as I appreciate the gesture on SE's part, I think the particular shade of gold they chose is hideous. I would call it more of a brassy orange than gold.

No, Square did the right thing by letting people know rather than letting them come up with insane theories on why gold dye never appears. Square didn't give people Atmas over this. It is just dyes. And guess what? Even if Square didn't give the gold dyes away, you are going to see everyone with it eventually. Remember those rainbow unicorn mounts? Everyone and their dog has one. Novus? More common than Animus and below. Things are only rare when they first appear. Over time, everyone will get one. Complaining about how giving gold dyes away won't make them special is just nonsense. Investing in an RNG gamble is not "effort", it's just a gamble that can be done once or 100 times.

Has anyone seen what the Coeurl swimwear looks like in gold? It's so awesome. I thought I'd hate gold, but the effect on some specific equipment is insanely nice. It also looks awesome on the Crescent Moon Nightgown.

Still, can't wait for them to make more metallic colors. Metallic Jade/Ruby/Sapphire/Onyx/Amethyst would be pretty neat on the right gear! Now, if only my retainers brought me back pots that are colors other than white...

Bug made it unobtainable, not rare. Stop being stoned for a moment and reread what Yoshi-P stated. He gave it to everyone as a kind gesture on his behalf because he knew people were wasting ventures in trying to obtain the dye that would have never yielded itself as a reward. If they said nothing at all, people would be heavily resentful when it was found out (especially post personal housing fiasco). Also they can't just randomly do hotfixes without informing people on what's going on.

4 pots of Gold means absolutely nothing at all, most people will use it all in one shot.

You say you don't look down on anyone, but like other people here, you give off an air of resentment over not feeling special because everyone will have what you want. Your "uniqueness" in game won't be damaged by a color dye.

No metallic gold received on mail since the maintenance postponed... Oh well.

itt: people being whiny, ungrateful, and entitled brats. Mad bc they don't get to feel special and unique (ie better than others) or rip people off by charging mountains of gil for something.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say those people complaining about "wasting" ventures were probably going to be sending out ventures anyway.

there are still a few options. i90 crafted should be pretty cheap at this point, but if it isn't, you can use GC elites if you bought them for glamours, or ST items if you got them for glamours.

You cannot equip retainers with GC gear.

I also think the drop rates for these dyes is way too high, I've already dropped all 3 available ones with some frequency.

I can't think of a good reason why dye should be an extremely rare item in the first place.
