Umm, just ignore them? If they are calling you "elitist" or other nasty things, why even pay attention to those people? These folks go on my blacklist and I don't deal with them anymore - problem solved.

Yeah, I am gonna cringe at the wave of complaints of people not being able to clear T6 let alone T5. The mechanics are way tougher and involve watching yourself and surroundings a lot more than T5 does. T7 even more so. No damage boost is going to help them, heck if anything it makes it more difficult because you then need to stop DPS and do phase changes at correct times.
Also, whats the point of a "practice mode"? Isn't that just making a redundant version of T5? Why can't you just practice on the current T5?
How did I go "off topic" ? - I responded directly to what u posted before:
Also...
"... aren't needed" according to who ? You ? Seems clear there are others who are asking for this content, no ?
Not needed in the sense that is the investment worthwhile? They could spend money on manpower to implement this but how much money would this really make for them? The only people that want an easier coil are people already playing, it's not going to bring in new players by saying "Hey, look! We made our game super easy!". What will it do for retention? Well, there's been a lot of people complaining about almost anything. Why give this priority when there are other features, like hunts, that could give better retention?
That sort of need is what I mean.
Solution:
1. Look up a Twintania kill video on youtube from your favorite Job's perspective with cutscenes. Open it up to full screen.
2. Pick up a controller or mouse and keyboard that aren't plugged in, and pretend you are playing while the fight plays. If you mess up, don't worry - a little robot that lives in your computer will take over your character and preform the mechanic correctly.
3. Easy mode coil complete!!!
4. Do the Superbowl Shuffle.
It basically calls out the ability the boss uses in a mechanical voice, and you can configure it such that any ability that has a cast bar can be called out by Siri Ver 2. It works for Scob as well, Blight, voice, shriek, AF etc etc can all be set up. A vocal DBM, if you will.
These apps are parsers, data gatherers. You can input some text for it to look out for. For example, you can set it to look out for "Magis suffers the effect of X." and once the parsers reads that from the chat log, the app will notify you with either text to speech or some alert.
SE should never have started nerfing anything, but sadly thats one way to get more money, those who don't actually want to try would just quit. This is an MMO where you put in practice, learn things step by step until you get the win, at least it is for the stuff that wasn't nerfed yet. If you don't find that fun, there is other things to do like crafting, getting into the economy, collecting minions; I'm trying to do most of these and they take tons of time. If that isn't for you either, maybe you should look for another game, but hey, SE wants your money even if you don't want to play the game! All it takes is a nerf for those who don't want to do how it was once intended to still keep playing, and they get their money, sad reality.
In all honesty, I really do not understand why you would want things that were proven to work be nerfed like SE does at the moment. Did you even try to learn it or find a group who is willing to? I did and the good old days where you went into Turn 4 with hardly more than Darklight, a lot of fun. Of course, with the nerfs, you now go in, clear, have no idea what the fight was actually about, learn nothing about how to actually play the game, progress to the next highest content and only piss players off who learned the hard way because you have no idea what you're doing but SE gave you a free pass. It's not neccessarily your fault, with all the nerfs finding a group to learn old content takes much longer, let alone if you want to find people who willingly click that stupid echo off. The thing you learn from Turn 1 now? You have to do damage for the boss to die. You have to heal the tank sometimes or he dies, as a Tank? Press 1 2 3 until the fight is over. I mean, seriously? How is that fun anymore, let alone teach people what to do?
Let me make a stupid example to what a I compare a nerf to. Let's assume Tetris is your favorite game, now I go play Tetris and don't very much like so I'll go complain "If you don't change something I'm done with this game, far too hard". So the developer makes a patch where if you only fill half a row instead a whole one it still goes away. Where does that leave you, being a lover of the original game? Well I imagine you don't want to play that boring crap anymore. Now imagine you go all the way like that to level fifty with a speed increase of 500%, have to team up with another player who played in the old way for months and all of a sudden you have to fill the whole rows again. Better look for the next chance to get the hell out or you're in for an earful of omg you suck.
That's what Echo is for Coil part 1 and will soon be part 2. Can aswell go clear a stage 1 of Tetris and get your i90 Coil piece per mog delivery and a cutscene entry to your inn book upon completion, that might even be harder, and more fun. I honestly do not understand why anyone would want to turn something that was once quite fun into this. If it wasn't for my OCD of must have every piece of gear I would never go in there again.
The worst thing taking it to the extreme though, Turn 2 enrage. Why SE by the twelve do you take all your precious time to design those marvelously fun mechanics when you let us completely remove them and still win even before the next Coil part was released. Players were stuck? I do not see the problem, if you want to play the game, go practice, if you don't, don't subscribe... well, I forgot the $$. Turn 2 was far from impossible and was excellent in terms of giving an introduction of dodging stuff and coordinating with the group. Now all you get from it is a coffee break, a few minutes of button mashing and maybe an introduction of how to manage some mana if you're healing. Again, in my opinion, level one of tetris is more fun.
Consider this, no nerfs since release date. Coil 1 and all content with iLvl sync to maximum of the gear you could attain when the content was released. And you have to clear old content before you could try the newer one, like, progression! Lots of players quitting because they realize they don't want to play this game? Definitely. But imagine the amount of content for players who are only getting started, and I dare to believe the amount of serious parties for older content would far exceed what we have now. I also doubt we would have anywhere near the amount of poeple who see one fail and leave because oh my god the probability of having people in this party who did not learn anything from old content is through the roof.
Right now SE just kills off any content they had 2 patches ago for most of the players. I would love to still do some old Ex primals from time to time, they were lot of fun, now they are just boring (SE's incentive to do them called the-mount-you-will-never-get being more offputting than inspiring aside..). As a player who would start the game at this point, I would love to experience all the content how it was supposed to be. Turn 1 wrapping your brain around how to feed the slimes properly, Turn 2 actually doing the mechanics and not removing them COMPLETELY from the fight, Turn 4 actually learning how to play your job properly, not "oh look there's mobs let's press some buttons it will die fast enough". Instead what do you get "Go clear T1 - T5 as quickly as possible, go do hunts to get i110, so you can actually start playing the current game" and then be surprised why players who have been there for longer are getting frustrated with you. How is one supposed to learn the game from that!
As to actually answer the easy mode request, the simple answer would be no please don't do that and please don't ever consider it. The thoughtful answer, maybe, since SE already screwed up the chance for anyone stuck there to learn anything properly (you are not going to find any party who will willingly click that echo off) and then you have 8 of them trying to clear Turn 5, the only turn where you actually have to do still do at least some of the things you were supposed to learn from turn 1 to 4. Unless you are lucky to have experienced players to help out, If you go into a farm party you will just get yelled at because they expect you to be able to things you should have learned, but you don't even know that with all the nerfs. So, at this point maybe an easy mode coil 1 and 2 after next patch would help take the frustration of those players, but then please SE, don't do what you did to Coil again in your next Raid-content however it may be called. In fact please don't do that to any content at all, not even dungeons (yes I'm looking at you Demon Wall).
Sadly I'm no genius game developer so I can't tell SE how to ensure a better game with doing it this way because the reality is they need the $ to continue developing a fun game, and nerfing is one way to get more of those which certainly works, though I wish it didn't. However what it does not is give newer players or those who don't have the majority of their time to commit to catching up and learning how to play the game very quickly a chance at getting seriously into current content. I can not imagine any way a player who has about 2 hours a day or less to seriously be with the current content by the time Coil part 3 is released (this includes having learned everything you should have by then). They will only get an old, less-fun part 2 of coil, and if they are still there, an even more mind numbingly boring part 1. And I don't see why they would want to play the game at that point.
I feel the community is another result from that, if you look at it from all perspectives of those who are stating their opinion. Consider if everyone was at the content they are supposed to be at, and HAD to learn and execute successfully their own current state of content before advancing to the next. No way would you have this throwing around of 'elitist' 'entitled' 'stupid' 'incapable' and whatnot. Making that into reality is SE's job and if they manage that they will have a very excellent game.
Pretty sad when people still think some should not be allowed an easy mode even if it only gives them the story. I hate people like that.
I mostly agree with this, except the divebombs. I still thing it should target everyone, but have less knockback. Enough to teach parties that they need to group tightly or else they will be knocked back. Of course when they attempt normal mode, they might have to compensate for a higher knockback than they were once used to, but nothing too difficult to adapt to.
If people only want to watch the CS why they dont watch it in youtube or something?
So? If someone is paying to play the game they should be able to see everything, why do you think WoW has raidfinder? They made it so casuals could see the content but not get the good gear that regular raiders get. But to say even with a mode that gives nothing should not be allowed? Uh..selfish.
Except the actual gameplay itself is the meat of the content? If you tell me that you've played DMC3 on the lowest possible difficulty while mashing EnI and then tell me that you've experienced the content just as much as another person who completed the harder difficulties using every available gameplay mechanic, I'd look at you funny. It's like buying a single player game and then getting mad at the developer for not showing you all the cutscenes because you couldn't beat the game. Would you scream and whine at the management if you went into an amusement park but couldnt get into the biggest roller coaster in the park because you're not tall enough or have a heart condition and demand them to tone down the ride into something like a merry go round (except you sit in the roller coaster cars instead of the horses).
I used to have no real opinion on tome vs coil but after hunts, I'm starting to wonder why the majority of hunt goers even care about getting so much sands or be so up in arms when SE messes with their marks waterfall when they're not even going to use their gear? I've seen so many players who are so keen to go up the ilvl ladder but don't even bother actually trying to best content with it, even outdated ones. It's kinda baffling honestly.

You use some terrible examples. Most games come with an easy mode because some people need it, take me for example I HATE turn based games so much, they bore me and i generally do not play them. Which means I have completed few FF games due to how much I hate turn based, then ff13 and its series came along offering easy modes and I enjoyed it. I am not comparing video games to real life examples because video games should not require you to HAVE to be able to do something, maybe some people just will never be good enough but that does not mean they do not deserve to see content ESPECIALLY on an mmo. Do I think we will see an easy mode? No. Would it be nice? Yes. It hurts no one at all.
Like I said pages ago, it is not about watching cut scene, but a full play though as well for a full experience. That is what playing a game about. For example, I have completed FF13 series numerous time with all the grinds with normal difficulty, but there are times I just want to have a damn quick run through to relieve the story again - I would opt for the easy mode for this purpose.
Watching all the cut scenes online and playing a damn quick run through is totally different feeling. I have never owned a PS2 and thus I have never played FFX and X-2 before, only to watch the cut scene online years back. Does it make me feel like I've fully experienced FFX/X-2? Nope, that is why I purchased the HD Remaster.

Depends on the genre, God of War I play on the hardest difficulty, and most other games I enjoy. Turn based rpgs? No I do not complain and call the companies I just decide this is not for me and quit. If I hate a genre I am not going to put up with the difficulty just to enjoy it. This is why most games come with an easy mode this day, changing market. I am not saying SE is selfish, I am saying players who say it should not be allowed are selfish. If SE does not want to do it because it takes to much time that is fine, but to people denying it because why? Because people should not be able to enjoy the content without reward just cause? Baseless argument on your part.
They don't? They need to be able to do 2 things.
"When green circle appears.. Run forward 5 steps"
and
"When cast bar appears... run 5 paces to the left"
Dps/heals/tank requirements are nil. 20-30 ilvls over what is needed AND 20% echo remove those as a consideration.
Sorry but they are literally doing everything but making it soloable (people can and have 4 manned T5 in ilvl 110 gear)
Then the solution seems simple if the game is too hard as it sits. Please do and spread this ideology to the 4 winds. Would be a lot nicer if they went away instead of crying until the game is soloable (which at this point... excluding ilvl 115 weapons.. it is)
I agree that "easy mode" should be added so that EVERYONE can at least experience the game at its most basic level. Unfortunately Coil V1, Tier 5 is all about game play mechanic, which you should master if you want to beat the boss. Granted I do think they should change the "deadly one hit move" to not instantly kill you but left you with very low HP - this way you could pop in potions or your healer just have to be on top of things. But at least no one die in one hit move - which is rather cheap. They have been doing a pretty good job in catering to the casuals though, and giving us normal Primal, Hard Mode Primal and Extreme Mode. They should definitely do this for Coils as well, but make sure the reward is below the normal and hard mode - since you don't do it for the reward, you do it for "the story".
So? Once again a easy mode hurts no one, the people who want to do coils for the good gear are still going to do it, take my friend for example, he doesn't get to do coil, he cant even get a clear on Garuda EX. He is decent at the game but often times never up to par, he enjoys this game immensely as well as the story. He wants to see coil, see the story, but he cannot because of the difficulty and his lack of skills. So you say he doesn't deserve to see it? Even without a single reward? No that is such a stupid argument, I dont care who you are. The argument that it would take more time to devote to making this mode is a better one with which I personally would agree, but saying someone should not be able to see the story just because they suck? Get out. Me, I love a good challenge, I learn all the fights as soon as they are released, but I am all for players who do not have the time, or just are not good enough to be able to enjoy everything about the game, story wise of course.
Luvbunny-
I agree mechanics should not be changed to much, like I said just as long as it is easier enough for some to see the story I think it would be fine. No reward at all, I am completely behind that idea, you can see the side story but you do not get anything for it. I think plenty of people would run this especially new players who have never played an mmo like my friend. Me? If i get a coil group, I will see more of it that way but for now I am not going to bother trying coil in DF.
I don't see how anyone is against this if there is no reward mechanic other than getting to progress through the story for more casual players before several patches have come and gone, adding even more story for them to catch up on even further down the road. No one would have to do it. It isn't forced on you. Don't have to do Story Mode Coil to get into Normal coil. People who do story mode coil get no advantage over a player who were to run through Normal coil instead. So people who enjoy their challenge still have it without being emasculated by casuals getting coil gear from a lower difficulty.
Can someone seriously give me a legitimate reason against this other than being stubborn and giving the same old rhetoric: 'Cuz these guys got it too easy man. L2P scrubs'
I will agree to Coil story if it offers no drops and no seals because what do I have to lose? Someone getting to see the story? Because that would totally kill the game for me.
As a casual, I feel like a complete and utter jerk jumping into a DF for new content and being new at it. I'm dragging down other folks who may be much more serious about the win, when I'm still in the learning phases. And boy, do I feel like an even bigger jerk if we win with me derping around. Why do I deserve a carry? Simple answer is.. I don't.
Some may argue "Just put up a PF group for learning party." PF has been personally tried several times and has not gone well. An "easy mode" would allow me to learn mechanics with others (cross-server through DF) and everyone would automatically know that it is a learning party with no rewards except knowledge. I do not agree that CS' and story should be carried through to the learning mode. That should be a reward for the normal modes only. And maybe learning mode is only available as you unlock content (example, can't do T9 learning mode until you beat T8 normal mode).
I would definitely use it if it existed.
I don't see the issue either, in fact, I am confused. If there is no gear dropped or any rewards (Maybe a few myth /shrug) I can't see the problem with it. I realize that people think the first coil is easy enough already, but there are more reasons than just: "OMG BAD PLAYER" that would cause people not to be able to complete them.
The only way they could make it easier would be to take away the death barriers, one shot Twisters and one shot Dreadknights. It would be insulting to do this in addition to already having the 20% Echo buff and the ability to overgear the fight. People just need to learn the mechanics.
I wonder how the babies in there would have done with CoP.
This is wrong, having the devs spend time and moeny on adding a baby version means less time and money spent on the actual mainstream content. Also since most content is a gate to the next stage, what you want SE to create is an entire story track for those who want the baby mode. Nah, i hope SE laughs at this and continues on.
Just a FYI more times then not, when someone talks about their friend, they really mean themselves. As for deserve to see it, sorry but 'friend' does not deserve to see it. If 'friend' does not have the time to learn the job, fight or bother practicing it, then hells no they dont deserve it.
Nicka Laes, search him up. Me? I got to turn 5 and decided I didnt like doing coil, at least not in DF. Do i find it hard? I learn fights after one go so no, but I am not interested in devoting time to a Coil group so I plan to stay away, and most people in DF are herp derp so I not dealing with that either. Also if you had read what I sad previously, I agree if it takes to much time to make then I understand SE never implementing, however if they could without issues then there is no reason they cannot. Don't be a nasty person just because you think some people do not deserve to see content. And even though I know the will more than likely not do it I doubt they are the kind of scum who would laugh in peoples face for wanting this.
Why don't they just auto unlock those cutscenes from the previous Coil, for everyone after the next one comes out? Then those who weren't fortunate enough to defeat those turns can go watch them. I personally believe it's a load of bull that people want to only do Coil for the, "story". They want what other people have, but don't want to put forth the same effort.
They want it for story - then give them the cutscene for free
They want it for loot and story - do the normal version
It's too hard - when subs start suffering terribly, SE will nerf it
I actually think this would be a cool idea, It would be like tuning into a new episode every patch. Then again we have youtube, and some people have said they want to experience the story and battles. In the end this is not likely to happen and people will continue to agree to disagree. Think I am done arguing, I made my point.
I personally would've done a "story mode" coil that dropped no gear if it was available. Coil groups get kind of stressful sometimes!
Even though I'm confident in my own abilities to challenge current or future endgame content, I'd still like to see a lower difficulty mode for the content be introduced, as long as it dropped no gear or inferior gear (IE: "weathered" allagan equipment that could not be upgraded).
They want to experience the story in an FF game?! What a bunch of entitled bitches! Acting like they had to pay to get this game and shit, the nerve.
Again, no loot then wtf do these people gain over someone who runs Coil normal. As you all said, Coil is all ready easy. Sooo if some players can't clear the content to see the story, how the hell does them sacrificing equipment and currency make this a huge benefit to them? If someone would want to run any dungeon for absolutely no loot, go for it. Not my thing but if some story die-heads want to see it that bad it isn't going to somehow break my game mechanics.
As an added bonus it gives new or more casual players a way to train in content without having assholes breathing down their neck or having people leave a practice group after a wipe. Which means if anyone is doing it in DF, there is 0 reason for someone to NOT KNOW the mechanics in Coil should a story mode be introduced. Practice to your hearts content without forcing the rest of the DF group to learn with you.
I've said this many times already, Coil isn't main story. Did you do Shinryuu in FFV? How about the Weapons in VII? Ozma in IX? If they were too hard for you to beat, you just didn't beat them and lost out on that "story". Why would Coil be any different. You can see the MAIN story of the game without even so much at wink at Coil.
Aside: I don't mean "you" personally, but as a general statement
Yeah, the problem with BCoB Turn 5 at this point is simple: SCoB Turn 2 enraged mode. If the one shot mechanic from that fight was still forcing people to learn it then by the time they got to Turn 5 they'd have a better grasp of paying attention to things like debuff icons and quick reactions. Turns 1, 2 (enrage) and 4 with i100 and 20% echo don't prepare you for the smash in the face that you get from pushed back twisters and non-focused targeted mobs for cast bar awareness. The only solution would be nerf those attacks even more as no amount of echo is going to improve reaction time.
