For the love of Hydaelyn SE! Stop with pointless drops!!

And that's the thing. If Gear drops, you can either use it, glamor it, or turn it in for GC seals at the very least. If the [expletive] mats drop and you don't do the crafting that needs them? Well, the game says you can go [expletive] yourself. I could sell them sure, but I don't really need gil. Everything that I want is untradable and unsellable and either is a trade-in for tomes, quest reward, or (allegedly) drops from a dungeon.

these drop rates are really annoying me too, I have the tank head and feet just need the rest but every dungeon since has literally been; first boss random material, second boss two random materials, third boss another pointless material.
I would really like to do other things but I really want the tank gear for glamour. been doing stone vigil and hull breaker 5 times a day each day since the patch and it really demotivating. If getting rid of the materials isn't a option at least lower the chance of getting them a little bit so you don't get a whole dungeon of just materials.

Nine pages and there's still no official word on anything? Kinda sucks.

There'll be words from the devs once the Atma drop rate is "addressed" *snort*

The only problem I see is people complaining that it's tougher to farm a full set of gear in a week. Sorry, but you're not supposed to. It's meant to take time. This game has never been about "I want it, and I want it NOW!". Probably never will be.

No one here is expecting to get everything immediately, we just expect to not spend 20-30 minutes on a dungeon to be rewarded with nothing but materials that are most likely useless to us.

Wow, you get an S+ in missing the point. I'm not upset about not immediately getting a full set of gear, and don't think anyone else here is either. I even specifically stated that even if I got things I didn't need but could trade in for things that I could do *something* with I'd be good with it. We're upset that we're effectively getting garbage from bosses whereas most dungeons before this don't.

I wasn't necessarily talking solely about you.You don't want mats that you can only either use, or sell for gil. The gear can also only be either used, or sold for seals. Not a huge difference. The actual "reward" of these dungeons is the tomes they supply. And they also drop gear anyway, just less often. No reason to be complaing about these dungeons.

Wrong. Dungeons have always been about BOTH gear and tomes. Even though it may not be use for you, a new player may use it as an actual upgrade.

my friend just did hit 50 recently and i did help him do dungeon, everything was fine, until reach the dungeon of the 2.2-2.3.... there on 10 dungeon, we did see maybe 7 gears loot. all the rest was crafting stuff.
he was like "shit i will never get equiped" he will get faster i90 and i100 stuff than i80 gear from dungeon.

other point that some people did forget, now even the ring, bracer, necklace and earring are in the boss chest. it's a huuuuge loot table.
more important, the side chest have loose all interest, since they only offer potion that we rarely use... i have more of 60 super elixir....

solution: put the crafting loot into the side chest.
and about people saying: why boss must reward with loot, because it was like this in wow?
i will say: it was like this in every damn mmorpg before. you face a challenge you need to be rewarded.

Serious question, does anyone even use any kind of potions often enough to want them to drop in dungeons? Like I would prefer the crafting mats over potions in those chests that drop potions, and have boss chests drop gear.

It was so damn cool getting ilvl 70 gear in previous exp dungeons, so that I could put them on retainer in case I lvl them in the future. The rate of dropping gear vs. materials has been kind of reversed in comparison to rates in all other dungs. Even though they dropped way more often and offered gear even from the optional chests, it still took a while and quite many runs to collect most of the gear (still missing some pieces!)

Cannot imagine how current expert dungeons can serve anybody more than glamour on their current class and couple of pieces for future classes.

I guess the point is missed here which imo should be helping people raise their ilvl so they can progress.
I was happy with the addition of new ilvl80 sets, so I could raise ilvl of my monk with that. I started at ilvl 71 and by the time I got my first piece from new dungs for my monk, I was already at ilvl90 with tomes only...really helpful drop! :)

Now, I don't mind getting some extra gil by selling crafting materials dropped from those dungs, but that's not exactly the reason I went there in the first place, so would expect them to mainly come from side chests. If I was really keen on gil, I would find a better way to earn it than running exp dungeon :)

Maybe twice on my smnr when I had to raise countless times during 1 fight. other than that int, poison pots, but those are not droping anyway :)

It's a shame, because from what little I've seen of the new gear, it looks really nice. But I ran the extreme dungeons back to back and I saw only two gear drops. It's a maddening thing, I sincerely hope that people who actually NEED the gear can get it. But at the rate it is, you'd be quicker getting i90 from tomes. I'm honestly surprised at how many people are still missing the point of the thread. No one is asking for instant gratification. Philo Mats or not, these dungeons will still need to be grinded in order to get the desired piece.

The issue is that philo mats dilute the drop pool to the point where it takes an inordinate amount of time to get personal, untradeable/unsellable glamours compared to everything else in the game.
-Any of the upper tier crafted armor can be grinded out and made within the day, or instantly if you buy mats. Even without materia, it is already better than i80.
-BCoB can be grinded to completion over and over at a much quicker pace for gear that not only is better stat-wise, but also is great looking, with a FAR smaller drop pool.

The only thing that compares to dungeon grinding for glamour bait is PVP grinding or Elite Marks, but looking more closely, it actually doesn't:
-While many players may be grinding out PVP/FL for glamour, the fact remains that i100 PVP is still top tier for PVP and should be harder to get. On the other hand, i80 Glamourbait is outdated statwise; its sole purpose is its looks and is, statwise, merely a short lived stepping stone.
-Mark Hunting for glamour is a long grind, yes, but Allied Seals and Marks have several more rewards than glamour. When it comes to hunting, glamour sets are really a tertiary goal.

I like the crafting mats in here. Both mats and armor boil down to just gil for me (after I replace the i70 in bag for never-play-that alt classes) and the crafting mats are worth more than the ~900 gc seals from the armor.

Well, some mats. Some of them are pretty worthless.

SO, much this...I've seen 1 piece of gear drop in like 5 dungeons and the rest are philo mats and the majority of them are worthless now at least on Excalibur. Potash, Lime Sulphur and Peacock or are the only ones worth anything (between 4 and 8k), the rest are being sold for less than 100 gil or even as low as their vendor price.

So, I just looked up the actual loot tables for the newest dungeons:

Nineteen possible items a single boss chest, eleven of which are crafting materials. Can we just nope to all of this? Seriously.

Amen to that. At this point I'd take just FEWER mats in that pool too; not that I'd find it ideal since I feel like at least the *final boss* of a dungeon should always drop gear, but it'd be better than the rubbish rates we have now.

i say don't sweat stuff like the mats vs gear drop rate cuz your only preaching to the choir. If it's someone's first class in end game and you need the gear as a buffer while you save tomes, then I sympathize. If your stressing over drop rates for a glamour piece I can only imagine the treads on Atma farming and the following stages. Drop rates serve a purpose: typically population control ,it adds an emotional factor into the equation :
"omfg about time it drops..... repoe lots 9 on ebody" excitement followed by a sucker punch PWND.
This also helps ensure the longevity of the content to ensure players keep coming back for more basically- ill need lot the sap n coke and mats every time. Then if no newer ppl who need and no one speaks up asking for An item, ll trade in the gear won by greed lots to purchase more mats

I played ffxi from na release till about 3 yrs ago. When I quit I told myself no more mmo games for me, well here iam. Id say definitely well played lol

That may be enough to keep you motivated to keep playing, but for (I assume) many others, seeing Filtered Water (example) always being the final chest drop is incredibly demotivating and frustrating (more so than losing to another players roll). There is the "I am sick of seeing Filtered Waters dropping all the time. I'll quit until SE fixes this!" group of people amongst the "nothing to do" people.

Many players don't give a rat's ass about the skin and glamour. Many players are doing the hunts/dungeons to get stuff i90 and i100. Many players don't give a rat's ass about i55-i80 pieces of stuff.

Stop with the stupid sentence ""I am sick of seeing Filtered Waters dropping all the time. I'll quit until SE fixes this!", of course someone would say this, but you can always find someone who's quitting for whatever reason.

Well Hunts don't drop Filtered Water 99% of the time, so...

Again, missing the point. This is an MMO; people expect to grind. We aren't asking for instant gratification, but as it stands, a 5% drop rate is outrageous. I will get my Allied Seal body piece before I get my i80 dungeon armor at this rate.

Then they did the absolute worst way to keep players. I want some of the gear that drops from there, but frankly I don't have the time, nor the motivation to run the content when I know that there's probably a solid 60%+ chance every chest will screw me over. It's stupid crap like this that makes me glad I'm canceling my sub this month. The motivation for doing the content shouldn't come at the expense of the player, ever.

I mean seriously, SE has been doing this crap loot tables since 2.0, they need to finally realize having such huge loot tables is the most absurd thing ever. I've never played an MMO where the drops were so terrible and required hours and hours of grinding just to even SEE a single drop. Hell I've run a lot of dungeons and there's still gear from the newer ones I've never seen drop once. The devs need to get with the times and stop trying to make this an EQ era game and actually let people have enjoyment from the game instead of making it a massive grind fest for the hopes the RNG gods pity you.

I just want to see some gear. Since the patch I have personally not seen any gear drops from final bosses in any of the three dungeons. On all other bosses I could probably count on two hands how many times I've seen gear drop.

A valid question. Perhaps SE just figured "well the new dungeons don't drop glamour stuff and no one is going to do the previous dungeons any more," and left it as is :/
