Nope atma is fine the way it is, yes it takes some time, but that is where the prestige comes from. Like whoa, that guy has his animus. Oooh impressive.
Keep grinding my friend, see you on the battlefield.

Nothing remotely impressive about Atma. It's pure RNG. You are not "skilled" or "special" for having dice roll in your favor. Animus/Novus have some prestige for the grind, Atma is just bullshit RNG.
Over 500 fates with no atma drop.
Edit: on a side note... it only took me 81 solo runs of the bcnm60 in ffxi to get kraken club... hmmm
500...
81...
500...and need 6 more...
81...only need 1...
FIX THIS !@#$
i think atma drops is somewhat broken i farming them from the start of atma patch and only have two:(
Someting is very bad here.
I think they did do something about the rates in this last patch, i had 4 from 2 months of grinding, and within a weekend, i now have 7 total. or I just got lucky. we'll never know -_-
There's no prestige in it, though. The only real difference, given roughly equivalent "effort", between we who have at least one Novus and those who never passed Zenith in the progression line is the RNG factor of atma. Hell, if not for atma, I probably would advance the relic quest on other jobs, but the thought of doing potentially another 800+ FATEs just so that I could start the Animus books all over again and look forward to doing dozens of Alexandrite maps after that....no, thank you. I'll wait for them to rework the atma system as they admitted they will need to do in order to make the Zodiac quest line accessible to new players as they continue to add further progression.
Not really, since Yoshi P basically said that there would be 2 paths to top-tier weapons: The skill path, which is your coil/EX primal/Syrcus Tower drops-based Soldiery weapons, and the time path, which are your relics:
I have my i110 Soldiery weapon for my BLM, which I got in 3 weeks (2 weeks for UAT from ST, and about 3 weeks total doing hunts for Sands of Time & 3 Weeks running Expert & Hard DR for the 1300 Soldiery tomes needed)
This compared to unlocking Atma drops 8 weeks ago and only 5 Atma stones to show for it. The only "skill" needed for the Atmas is lots of patience, since luck doesn't count as a skill.
Atma grinding is discouraging due to the way its design but it is fair. At least that's what I was saying when it first came but now UAT and sands are so fucktardedly easy to get, its just not worth your time upgrading your relic anymore. Apparently, the next relic is coming in the 2.38 so if the relic is turning into a ilv115 weapon then it will become fair again. Despite all your bitching and whining, the amount of time most people spend to get their 115 T9 weapon will still outstrip any amount of time you spend on your relic. Of course, people will bitch and whine regardless of anything anyways.
People saying there's no reason to complain about Atma don't understand probability. You'd have to run upwards of 400 fates to have a 90% chance of receiving an atma. 400*12 = Too damn high
I have had relatively good luck with Atma (3 in just over 50 fates or so) but that fact that once I slog through that, I will have to slog through Animus books, then Alexandrite for Novus and even more stuff for Nexus, its just a never-ending chore for a weapon that just barely surpasses the Soldiery and High Allagan weapons in stats.
I will probably do it eventually, but for now, I will stick to the Soldiery weapons, at least that doesn't leave you in the mercy of the RNG.
