Yes...
Book of Skyfire for example is divided into Book of Skyfire I, Book of Skyfire II, and Book of Skyfire III. But you can only get Book of Skyfire II if you've completed Book of Skyfire I.
Four available simply means you have for book series to chose from. By completing those, you can select the next in the same series...
Different for PLD, since it's divided into 4 series for Sword and 2 for Shield... That's why it says 6 available for that set...
I admit I was confused about it at first too, and talked to others who were confused...
But I'm currently working on the second Book of Skyfire, which only became available after I completed the first.
Word around the street says that as long as you hit a fate enemy once, you have a chance of getting an atma. All the game checks for is participation status. If this is true, you can run to fate to fate. Hit them once and move to the next and wait for them to finish to see if rng smiled upon you.
If you are completing the FATEs stated in the books, please remember you must get gold medal or else it will not consider you completed that FATE. I got silver medal and is not recorded. :(
I can add to the questions listed in the opening posting:
Q: Do I need a Gold Rating, or will Silver and Bronze Ratings give me the Atma as well?
I got an Atma with Bronze, landing merely 3 hits just before the FATE was over so participation is enough just like with the beastmen FATES
Q: I have multiple classes with Zenith Weapons, will I have to be on the job that started the original quest, or can I choose which one to upgrade? i.e. If I started the quest on White Mage, but want to upgrade my Bard Zenith Weapon instead, can I do it?
I started the quest as BLM but got annoyed from doing Low Level FATES with him so I switched to BRD and got 3 Atmas since this. So it doesn't matter at all, even on your first quest run. And I can only recommend BRD, he is KING of FATES. :p
Ty TomTom, although the 2nd question was already answered, but still good info. The answer you gave to the 2nd question though is more toward a previous question put in the FAQ higher up. This particular question asked about upgrading weapons once you collect all 12 atma, not actually obtaining them with a different weapon. Basically once you have all 12, you can decide which weapon you want to upgrade, regardless if you started the quest on a different Job.
You might want to change the wording on that some. This is not a quest, it has a quest that comes before, and a quest that causes the upgrade. Part of why it's not locked to a job, you didn't accept it as a certain one for it to lock onto.
It's taken me 1, 3, 4, 15, 27, 30, 30, 42, and 67 fates to get my 1st 9 Atma. I did get a few silver and bronze but all my drops so far have been on gold. I know this is a small sample size but thought I'd contribute it in case anyone is trying to figure out the drop rate.
Question from me: do you also get the Weapon Power increase from a book? Or does it come for free once you've completed all 9 books?
Good question, anyone whose completed the books able to shed some light on this? I'm not that far into the quest myself (4 more atma to collect), but from what people have said, the books only add to stats and not to Weapon Power/Damage. So would assume when you finally do complete all the books it would increase its Weapon Power. Could be wrong though. Anyone currently doing the books care to chyme in?
I've upgraded 2 books so far, no dmg increase to weapon, still seems to be a debate over whether you can do 4 books or 9 books this patch...cant find a confirmed answer to that yet...some people say there is a Monk on Japanese server that already got 9 books...any confirmation on this would be much appreciated...otherwise ill let you guys know by the end of the weekend lol
I've seen people with upgraded shields for the paladin set, but I know that takes far fewer books. I hope you can complete all 9 books this patch. After all it's only ilvl 100 you are upgrading to, and supposedly the next big patch will increase that to 110 and make the stats customizable. Although this leads to more questions, if they do in fact make it customizable, will you have to grind more books to switch around your stats?
Someone on the lodestone posted a picture of the BLM Animus so it's been done already and possible to complete now. The text just words it in a very odd way and I'm not sure why yet. Also the stats you gain from the books are what stats are already on the weapons. The bow has 3 dex books, 3 vit books, 2 acc and 1 skill speed.
I posted some quick screenshots of the pages of the book as well http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodest.../blog/1046305/
Not entirely sure if they all have the same exact format but that one gave me 100 enemies to kill, 3 dungeons with the final bosses being the target (one of which was lvl 50), 3 leves (2 were company ones, one maelstrom and one twin adder so look carefully when tracking these down) and 3 fates.
Indeed, which brings me to believe that the system message about the 4 available trials means that you can currently only upgrade the 4 primary stats of your weapon and that perhaps later on you will be able to add or change to custom stats.
For now, that's only speculation though.
Hey guys,
I don't post here much, but I figured I'd post what I know.
I have just completed the Bravura Animus as of yesterday.
The four books they speak about are directly relate to the first round of upgrades available to your weapon on the Main and Secondary Stats: [STR, DEX, MND, INT], VIT, [Skill Speed, Parry, Accuracy, Critical Hit, etc.]x2
There is no book for Weapon Damage at all and that only comes when you upgrade to the Animus itself.
There are 9 books in total to cap out your Relic in stats to allow it to be upgraded. These, in total, will cost 13.5k Mythology.
Each Book requires you to kill: 100 enemies in various locations, successfully complete (failure does not count) 3 FATEs, 3 Leve quests (they can be GC leves), 3 dungeon bosses
No NEW stats can be added to your relic at all. If the original, base relic did not have the stat then you cannot do a book to upgrade it.
Each book will permanently add +2 to the stat to cap out at the Animus weapons shown value (Bravura has a +1 Parry book, which kind of breaks this rule). Once the book is completed the stat change occurs.
Completing a book will give you a huge notification. After you have done so, go back to the girl in Mor Dhona and she'll toss it in the fire for you. Please make sure it is done as you will have it removed and all progress lost.
When all 9 books are complete you return to the Alchemist guy up near Gerolt at Fallguard Float and trade it in to him via the menu to get the weapon and the achievement.
The Item level for the final Animus remains at ilvl100.
The glow effect on the Animus weapon is an upgraded version of the Zenith glow and A LOT more powerful... It's really bright.
If you wish to get a SECOND weapon upgraded, you will have to repeat the entire process again.
Most of this has likely been posted, albeit, scattered amongst this page already, but this is how it works! So any speculation you thought you had... there you have it.
Also, I believe Yoshi did state that the Relic quest (Zodiak Weapons now) will continue via 2.25, as someone has mentioned. I personally assume we will hit ilvl110 with that portion of the quest and it would require another 13.5k Myth to do a similar/same process.
I'm wondering if they won't go full evil in 2.25 and make the last 3 books cost soldiery tomes.
I think mine might be bugged. It wont drop the Atma of the Goat from the East Shroud. I've been at it for 4 days straight. 5 hours each day.
Not bugged, just very unlucky it would seem. If you still have any other atma remaining it might be a good idea to go try and get one of those and then go back to east shroud. Any time I took a break I would swap areas. Doesn't really affect the drop rate but it kept me from going nuts with some of the bigger, more annoying areas.
My FC have started speculating that the atma drop rates are based on the zodiac affinity of your character's chosen birthday. We each found the quickest drop was the one that matched our character's zodiac sign whilst the longest farms were usually those opposing our own. Not sure if anyone else has seen similar?
Nope :/ I wish... Atma of the Fish gave me some trouble while Scorpian and Maiden dropped almost instantly.
Well... it's been 2 weeks & i still have tough luck getting atmas. Particularly at Lower La Noscea, think I've counted a week of my time spent there, and still no single atma. :(
BTW, if I died during middle of FATE, do I still have chance getting atma?
Just an update, the last 3 Atma took me 7, 27, and 119 fates. That's 372 fates or about 1 in 31 fates. Some people in my FC are speculating the drop rate is 2.5% which means I was a little lucky but not exceptionally so. I did this for about 3 days and it kind of made me a little nuts but I don't think a drop rate like this is too bad if the grinding had been spread out a bit more (easily grind 30-40 fates a day and get all your Atma in a week and a half). I think what drives people crazy is the need to have all the Atma right now. I understand the urge (pushing myself to put off sleep for just one more fate lol) but you might save your sanity to take it slower :)
Yes. 2.5% is what many people have determined by using the 3000 fate achievement to count fates.
Which means on average you should get it within 40 fates but it wouldn't be unlikely for it to take 80 or even 120. 40 fates is about 2 hours if you're speed running them (not staying for them to finish). If you stay for them to finish then it's much longer.
Speed running them is the key. Do not stay for them to finish. it's completely unnecessary. Even if you think you need gold, it takes little effort to get gold and the fate doesn't need you to finish. You're only making the grind several times worse than it needs to be.
That would be so crazy if there was a secret that cooresponded to your in game character birthday and the drops rates turned to 50% or something....one can dream right.
I have only been at this for a little time now but I was wondering if you anyone can enlighten me on this because this is just a quick observation.
This morning when I got my first atma it was from a boss style fate that also happened to be the only fate in the area that I did not complete until then. Also, someone else who got their atma during the same time frame got it from another boss style fate.
Has anyone received atma from a fate other than a boss style one, if so can you describe the style? By style I mean mob kill, escort, item turn in, protecting items, or any others i missed. Also, has someone received an atma from a fate they have completed more than once in that area, without teleporting, changing jobs or entering an instance, between the first time it was completed and when you got your atma?
Thanks for this info!!!
Can personally give my experience on both of these questions.
I would say I'm half and half for "Boss" type fates, and killing so many, escort, item turn in, destroy supplies, etc. fates that have given me Atma. My Western Thanalan Atma came off of a fate of nothing but killing coyote/dog/wolves. However a person in my party had received theirs from the Bubbly Bernie fate right before I got mine. Central Shroud I managed to pick mine up from a level 5 (maybe higher) fate that was literally right outside of the gates of Gridania (just south-east of it in fact). All I did there was kill raptors coming across a bridge. Central Thanalan I got it from the turn-ins with the Cactuar fate that requires you to pick up the cactus fruit.
Outer La Noscea I got it from one of the "Boss" type fates though, same with Upper, but West and Lower were just random kill stuff fates.
Also I have stayed in a zone long enough to do each fate roughly 3-4 times over, but at the same time I've been in a zone all of 5 minutes and gotten an Atma. So far I see no consistency in multiple completions, changing jobs, or teleporting around that have hindered my Atma collecting efforts in anyway. It truly is random.
At least from my perspective, your mileage may vary.
Folks, a quick (and maybe newbie) question about endgame content:
Second coil turn 4 drops weapon ilvl 115. Is it that hard?
I'm asking this 'cause ATMA requires a lot of grinding for a ilvl 110 weapon. Is the Turn 4 one still better?
Thanks in advance.
