I play male because when I star to speak to the Japanese ladies at Spanish they act like this:

I originally chose a male because I knew I wanted to be miqo'te, but the starter lady miqo'te outfit kinda made me feel like my whole point for playing the game would be fanservice... Not to mention I wasn't really excited about the female hairstyles or face options, which all seemed sorta blah to me.

So I switched to a dude, and yup, sure enough, definitely cooler (and more attractive! ;) ) looking models. So male it is. As someone else said, I love running around in the weaver outfits. Too freakin' stylish.

I mostly forget about the character vs. player gender business when playing so it's always jarring when someone I'm party finder'd with makes a joke about the party having all men or something. Like "Ohhh, yeah! I'm playing a dude! Derp derp."

I knew a girl who was a male character in games because she didn't wanted to be treated unfairly because of a fact that she was a girl. After hearing about the encounters that often happen from some men when discovering it's a girl on the other side of the microphone she made the decision to stay on a male character and act the part. I shrug. Hoping one day she might play a female class without that fear.

Not because I'm a male in real life, but because I love the way the males look in this game. I'm soo glad the male miqe'tos were added, made me 2. Since I didn't get my drink back, I went a head an leveled a sexy male hyur too.

Oh, I sorta answered this in the other thread before this one appeared.

...previous experiences aside, I just find that I can identify with my male characters more.

I also l know what I like to see. With the customization available, why wouldn't I want to use it to my advantage? Who needs eyecandy when I can make it myself - for myself, right? Or that's how my reasoning goes.

Which turned out to be a good thing, for me at least... seeing as I run into cat girls and lalafells mostly. And yes, they're cute... but they just don't do it for me. I need to be inspired to do my best by something. C'mon.
