Hmmm...a lot of peeps have been complaining about how "Easy-Mode" this game is and how ridiculous it is that a "Hardcore Grinder" can acheive R50 in one weekend, soooo they are nerfing the SP gains to slow down the ridiculously easy-mode leveling and now it seems like those same peeps are crying foul.
Do you want easy-mode or do you want challenge? You can't have both. Make up your minds.
easy mode is not the same as leveling fast. your battles are easy. add challenge to the battles and the sp can say the same and it's still challenging. it's not a problem when people can rank up fast for me because i realize this will eventually be mid level, but there still needs to be a challenge when inside of battle.
no one talks.. nor do I care about linking you guys complain about leveling to fast aswell. I do not care for leveling fast just havung fun. And a silent mmo is NOT my idea of fun.
No i haven't linked, but i do not care for the "bonuses" that happened. Since again people complain about leveling to fast :)
Linking was a CHOICE, people FORCED it much like cookie cutting in ffxi. You didn't nor do have to link if you do not wish to. And it also made it so people can do levels all day instead of just 8.
Less is more at times. Like in ffxi you fight more ep modb for less exp per kill but got more exp from it in less time then killing Dc mobs worth more exp because you kill less in that time. Going on the OLD exp about 30 exp a kill killing about 150 in 30 min. (with resting) vs 50 exp off 90 mobs in 30 min. Same mobs just 1 set is ep next set is dc. It takes less time to kill an ep and can kill more before resting.
I feel like Yoshi is betraying his own words with those whole leve nerf.
Why not just delay until there's alternative content? I mean, he specifically came out and said that he KNOWS SP WILL BE BAD and he's still gonna do it.
Whatever happened to "Change for the sake of change isn't the way to go?". All this really looks like change for the sake of change, because it's all so completely unnecessary right now!
Building the game around the leve system ruined the game. I'm glad to see it go.
So meh.
Ummm what same fools lol this comment seems unplanned, I'm pretty sure the people complaining on the 2 threads aren't the same people lol.
BTW I'm glad it will be harder to level everyone needs to slow down it's way too easy now. Sorry to be such a hardcore elitist douche bag guys I can't change how my mama made me ::turns nose up:: (insert random i'm better than you comment). ~sarcasm
Okay, I will post this not directed to you Darkstar, but to everyone in general who is "worried" about this whole thing.
First: No matter how much SP will be reduced for linking and the mobs in general...to even assume it could be less SP than running the leve solo is just stupid. Sorry...with the outmost respect, you are stupid. I think SE is aware of giving solo players more SP than running a leve as a group is just stupid, so they won't do it, that much I don't have to speculate, that much should be fact using common sense.
Second: Bonus for the completion of the leve is based on "performance". Meaning your difficulty setting, your competion time and maybe more factors will add to that bonus. A player doing a leve solo might be able to kill the mobs without much hassle, if they are up to 5-6 ranks above him. Well your SP will be uncapped for those mobs for 4 ranks already...so the completion bonus must be pretty low. A group of people can kill SP capped mobs up to 12-15 ranks above them(even though the mob being more than 10 ranks above you won't give more SP for killing), but it will influence your bonus on completion. So that alone ensures that solo players won't get more SP than a group of people doing the same leve.
Third: Does anybody really believe Guild marks being restricted to cities where the guild is in will change ANYTHING about the habit how people do leves? First, most people give a crap about guild marks on battle classes anyway...second...if they really care about guild marks, they can run some leves solo that reward guild marks which brings me to fourth...
Fourth: Players will ALWAYS do what's considered the best/fastest way of grinding. All other factors are gonna be ignored. If doing leves as a whole is not gonna be the fastest way of grinding anymore after the patch, everyone will switch to the new fastest way of grinding. One fact is, doing leves solo will never be more worthwhile than doing them as a group, cause it makes no sense and I trust SE that much to know that.
If leves will not be the fastest way of grinding anymore but stuff like raptor grinds will be the new way of grinding, lpayers will find camps all around the world to party and grind on...just like it was at the beginning of the game on Crab/Eft/Hog/Raptor grinds.
And honestly...I would prefer party play getting away from leves and more to actual grinding in the outskirts of Eorzea...leves should be a way for people who don't have much time on their hand to still get some progress(which was the initial reason for them) and not the center of everything and I'm glad they will get rid of leves being the center for everything. If leves still gonna be the best way to grind, I can live with that but at least the reduced SP for groups will make grinding on regular mobs around the world more viable.
^
It has been hard trying to explain similar matters on Leves to these guys on both threads. But no, "There are no ways to rank up anymore" We will be stuck at any rank we are at when the patch is implemented.
Quiting for a while > More Viable.
Derp'd SE
So far, nobody mention field grinding, I think it is pretty good SP. Of course not as quick as leves-full-link, but it can be done for longer period and it is at least as good as double link leve.
At least once every other page someone has mentioned field grinding. Not the point though. Some players want to know what their main focus for party progression is. Some people have gone off track with this a little bit in assuming that others think they cannot rank without a ridiculously fast system in place.
If guildleves are solo centered. What are your plans for party centered progression? Straight from the horses mouth is the best way to quash this debate.
this is not the problem. when you are a single group the respawn rates cover your party enough to get a decent amount of sp. i do alot of grind parties and do enjoy them. the problem is when more groups come to those spots the spawn rate isn't high enough to support multiple parties. if they fixed the respawn rate with the leve change it can be better in the long run. i just understood that those changes would be done later. that means the grinding will become less viable until then.
I think Field Grinding should be a viable way to obtain decent SP. If only that 10 level SP cap was not in place...
Love how lots of people in here are assuming people JUST go where they can get marks and only care about em and nothing else... people will go where they want and marks are insanely easy to get. Most people either don't care about em or got what they wanted/needed long time ago(And the ones that don't won't be farming marks forever)... you'll still get varied pt's even in limsa ... lmao It's also not like you cant go to Limsa as a non marauder to get leves... you can still pick up leves elsewhere as a mrd ... Anyways that's all I'm gonna say, just hilarious the amount of posts that use this excuse to try to back up their unfounded statements >.< Thanks for making me laugh though^^ Hehe
The big problem with field grinding is as you say; the bonuses from leves greatly overshadow grinding. (At least they're fixing leves now.) What they need to do is add something like a EXP ring or make Aspect work outside of leves (would have to restrict time and/or sp cap per use depending on Anima spent). Then, players would be able to grind on a bonus, but it would be geared towards casual players also since it has limitations.
After that, they can get rid of fatigue already. All the bonuses in the world don't matter if you get fatigued.
The simple answer to this thread now is...
We'll all adjust to the systems that they put in place and then they will become the norm.
We might whine and complain, but we'll adjust and then whine and complain about something else.
It's basically in place to counterbalance leve link bonuses and aspect. Otherwise people would be getting 1200 sp per kill or something crazy like that. But now that they're fixing the crazy guildleve bonuses (do the math, they were pretty crazy), they should raise the 10 lvl sp cap to 20.
Not exactly sure if they're planning it, but iId keep pushing them for it if they're going to nerf leve party bonuses.
I don't care if no-one talks when you play. Go get a LS or something, no need to cry about it here.
@bolded: You talking about linking? If so, you have no idea because it's the opposite what you say.Quote:
Linking was a CHOICE, people FORCED it much like cookie cutting in ffxi. You didn't nor do have to link if you do not wish to. And it also made it so people can do levels all day instead of just 8.
Leve party without linking: 8x leve a, 8x leve b, 8x leve c = 24 leves
Leve party with linking: 2x full link a, 2x full link b, 2x full link c = 6 leves
Bit defensive just because someone stated a fact lmao If your that insecure stop being such a loner and talk to the community more in game. MMO's are known for communication, not all of us want to solo and keep to ourselves while remaining reliant on our LS's and being rude to the outside community. It's clear you misunderstood the other comment too, read posts fully otherwise makes you look like even more of an *** .
If only 14's community was half of what 11's was o.O...
I love how you think that we'll have solo-based casual leves without any hardcore party content in the future =)
It is Obvious that we'll have something else to do instead!
All I read was "I'm a masochist and like poorly designed leveling systems! I want to be a special because I can sit there and grind for 12hrs straight. I love to afk in ul'dah after my feat of strength! that took no skill but just time committed!"
Leveling too fast, really? LOL. People are really grasping at straws.
I really don't understand why anyone would complain about how fast it is to level up. I've played MMO's since 1998 starting with lineage 1 which is the grindest game of all time, I've played all of them. The only game I ever gave a crap about when it came to leveling was WoW because your char was always involved in a zones story.
Is that really too much to ask for when it comes to FFXIV? give my char a sense of purpose to exist in this world while i'm leveling up. I don't want to hear theres evil fiends everywhere only to see dodo's, rats, ladybugs, nannygoats and then string me along with mission quests every x amount of levels.
I don't care what they do with the leveling system. I want it to be fun, grinding mobs for 10hrs is not fun.
