Holy crap get over yourselves with your jump phobia, this is one thing I will NEVER understand about this community and your damned anti jump snobbery. Just another ridiculous complaint. Honestly.

And O.M.Gee, this was supposed to be a positive thread according to OP that's actually why I started reading.... /sigh.

I'm happy with this direction too so far, just hope we get immersive content down the line too at some point (mail system, housing, chocobos [raising?]) So far so good though. :p

I think it's funny people are still arguing if jump is coming or not, it's like they can't read, or refuse to read the facts even when there laid right in front of them.

To be honest, I am most excited for that chocobo escort thing =]

I like to spam /stretch. Just stand next to someone and go "Uuuuuhuhhhhhuuuhhhhhh...uuuuuhhhhhuuuhuhhhhh...." for like 10 minutes straight. It's especially great when you get about half a dozen Lalafell together in the same place doing it. Scars people for life, it does.

The moral of the story: There are more irritating things to do than jump a lot.

If jumping lets me get past those 2 foot high cliffs that I for some reason can't move over on my own for whatever reason, PLEASE add it. They're the bane of movement in this game in my opinion. The amount of times I went one way only to hit an invisible wall. x.x

In what FF were you able to jump? oO I just dont understand why you are expecting that this function will fit in any case in this game. I never played WoW and I know why I didn't. Let this game not lose its serious character.

hmmm wasn't this the exact same thing people complained with about tanaka? wasn't the complaints were he did whatever he wanted and didn't listen to his players? wasn't that the exact reason people wanted him gone?

call me crazy but wouldnt a landscape without features like mini river cliffs which occure all the time in nature anyway be nothing more than the skeletal structure of a landscape?
this game needs landscapes with realistic occurring formations like much of what we have, not what your asking for.

and if you meant just get rid of those invisible walls , then itd look just as bad, if not worse, than what we have now when you run up some (oh but not all) 80 degree angle cliff sides....

Yoshida is listening to players, current, former and potential.

He's not listening to the whiners that like to pretend it's still 1995 and that no advancements have been made in MMO gaming.

I never played a game in my life with a button on the gamepad that makes your character jump but the whole game doesnt need any jump and isnt designed for the use of it. I never asked myself in a FF 'what, I cant jump?'...

It wasn't only that. It was because his choices seemed irrational and content was usually unbalanced. Content that didn't make any sense and void of practicality. Just a bunch of crappy systems that either had too many hoops to jump through or content that lacked challenge. Nothing in between.

Getting something balanced in terms of content under Tanaka during FFXI and in FFXIV was never a safe bet the first time around. Then when revisions finally came for said content, people were already over it and moved onto something else. It was quite obnoxious, frankly.

you mean like stating that his "improvements" may seem to be downgrades? or how about "changes needed to be made whether they were good or bad"? ya know those were from your current producer.

Lol... Seriously, the game has to be redesigned if they want jumping to be useful. It would be funny to have jumping on a button of my ps3 controller while there are 100 other functions. But lets just wait how they will implement it..

I am apprehensive about a jump feature. It just seems kind of superficial to me, and like a few have already stated, the game wasn't designed for a jump feature. I would prefer to not see a bunch of people leaping over each other needlessly through the cities. If you want to talk mobility I say Chocobos > Jump.

I'm fine with jumping as long as it's motion captured and has a cooldown.

I'd still prefer the content-sensitive jump of FFXIII though.

i love this game i pretty much loved whatever SE published for years now but if i have to see people jumping around me in towns i ll quit! if thats what the mmo community wants mb its time for me to go back to my good old singleplayer games :)

Good job SE, but don't listen to the idiots that want jump on a CD or want to be able to turn off jump animations. Make them watch it, I promise it'll be for the better, as they actually see that watching someone jump doesn't kill them.
And honestly, if you can't rationalize how jump will be useful in ff14, might be time to hang up the mouse and keyboard, go outside, and do things, like run, play basketball, jump over a log, etc. You have let mmos and videgames rot your frail brains.

instead of adding jump to that game why dont you all move to another game that alrdy has it?

So sven, please enlighten me. You want all the people who want to be able to jump in this game to go to another mmo? So basically you want, everyone to leave, this game to have 300 players and SE cancel the game. You sir, are Albert Einstein in disguise....

I think Jump should be how its in Zelda. Run towards a edge and you jump down.

This means you cant jump up.

people think that jumping will allow people to get to higher areas or cut corners, which i dont see happening. You'll still have those "invisible walls" and sadly i dont think jumping will have any great use whatsoever. Maybe in the future theyll have regions that will add platforms thats you'll have to jump, but really who wants that? Am i the only one that would find that idea very tedious. What if you fall, do u have to climb all the way back up and try again...what the hell is the point. The surplus xp you get after being logged off for a while is not that big a deal but i do have a problem with things being added that will gets us to r50 asap. We only one character!

When you say rework, what kind of things are you thinking?

I believe I read that new recipes are coming in 1.19, but what does that really mean? 2 or 3 for each DoH? 20+, 50+?

Agreed. My faith in the SE has started to wane this past year, but I am definitely making the climb back up! So nice to see XIV riding its metaphorical chocobo down a clear destination with a set goal in mind.

They're not just and adding and changing things on a whim, to show that they're doing something and to temporarily sate our gamer appetites. I see a lot of thought is going behind each step to make sure it is the correct one.

If you'll excuse me now, I'm going outside to jump over my mailbox a few hundred times to see what all this fuss is about.
