You can mix pigments with clearcoat enamel/varnish to make translucent paintjobs for metal surfaces, so it'd be quite possible to have colored armor that retains a metallic sheen.

I might be reading this wrong, but it almost appears as if you've said "We're asking THEM to be lazy"
We were told the reason why, and as much as most people would agree with their usual thoughts on "What happens in real-life", for this occasion if felt like an unnecessary consideration especially one that in some ways can counter-act the original effect of the piece you're wearing.
Thumbs up, development team!

Thank you for taking the feedback of myself and the community and finally adding metallic dye options!
This is a great way to add more variety to gear!

So....where are these dyes that aren't in the patch notes?
Hmmm it has a green icon.
Agreed. I'd love to see a greater variety of "texture" dyes. For several of the vanity looks I've experimented with, the results look slightly "off" due to the fact that the components have different materials. For example, I put together a "stage magician" look for my SMN, using Evenstar Hat, Velvetine Coatee, and Evenstar Tights, but it looks a bit off due to the "clothy" look of the Coatee compared to the "satiny" look of the tights. If they could be texture-dyed to appear to have the same material, it might solve the problem!
