I am praying that there are no restrictions to the quantity of items you can have on sale, or at the very least a huge number - even if different tiers of shopkeep need to be unlocked by difficult pre-requisites (eg a given number of the FC must have completed certain content for it to be available, etc.)

Sorry, but people shopping in a housing ward are not going to want to enter every single house to see if they have a shop. I would much rather them be outside for people passing by to see. I wouldn't mind the option to put it inside but forcing inside would be wrong, especially since most houses in each ward are small.

Yeah even with the basement being added to small houses putting in a market stand would be like shoving a hot dog stand inside your cubical at work.

Yea in siren we got the first large house. And most has a lot of filled up spaces. I would have preferred goblet but it's still beautiful.

No, that was a suggestion I've made to expand the retainer system. The FFXIV 1.0 bazaar system is more or less what you're suggesting.

The confusion could be made since FFXIV 1.0 bazaar refers to any sort of shop where you had to examine the individual characters, whether if it was a retainer or character.

Though there is a big distinction between an retainer bazaar to a playable character's bazaar.
That being the retainer bazaar can only be sold in the Market Wards,
And the playable character's bazaar was not restricted on location.

Of course now FFXIV 2.0 does not have bazaars anymore.
Retainers' bazaar turned into Market Boards, which you no longer have to examine each bazaar individually anymore.
And playable characters' bazaar was removed entirely.

I don't understand your logic on bit. When you go to a locally own flower shop, do you also go to the owner's house? As other pointed out, FC's don't want strangers just randomly entering their space. Why would a shop outside have anything to do with having allowing people into your house? Perhaps I'm not quite understanding your point of view, if you could clarify that would be great, at least to understand where you are coming from.

But that's...the point? It's a two fold approach, 1 you might get to know your neighbors a bit as there might be something they are selling that you want. 2. It get's people from other wards or even people who don't own a FC house yet to purchase items and maybe even a relationship with a FC because they are consistently selling something you need.

While aesthetically that sounds nice, I'm not sure there are enough stalls for the number of FC's that can be in a ward? Also, this is a concept they did in 1.0...it didn't work out so well as there were very limited number of stalls that could be rented. And even then there were times the stalls weren't used at all because people wanted to avoid the rent fees.

im all for bringing back the player bazaars, but retainer market wards sucked ass

Do the players organize the supply for the NPC like with the retainers during 1.0 or are they just like any other sell NPCs that you can not controll what he sell?

If the first, then it would also be good to add an item search function to the entrace window, that show the player where the house is that sell the stuff he want. But without a buy function, the player should walk to the house.

Maybe instead of a simple NPC a 3th retainer restricted to the housing area would also be good ^^
Somehow i miss that i can't see the retainers from other players, wearing the gear which they sell

I think some of you are missing the point even though you rather not look through a bunch of people to find an item you might want to buy a tleast the option is there. who does not want a person parked outside of a dungeon selling food or pots now that's not a bad idea

In 1.0 that worked since people actually had to travel to the dungeons to enter (call my an nostalgic person, I really wish that was still the case). So having someone selling wares outside was a nice bonus when one of your members forgot a potion or food. However, in 2.0 there is what...three pieces of content that require you to be in the zone and not even at the entry point? Chimera, Hydra, and Coil. Everything else is "instant teleported to dungeon" via duty finder.

I see this being a big boon to FC's coffers themselves. Basically have a internal FC economy. Supply your crafters with mats, have them make food (have them keep a portion as payment or just pay them a small fee for the work), then put the food up on your FC merchant at a cheap price. FC members have ready access to food, FC gets a little money coming in, and some of that money goes to pay for more food.

Sadly the only way for a FC to make money really is some form of "tax" and really giving FC members HQ food for say 100 gil seems next to nothing compared to what they would pay were they to get it themselves and lets the FC make money.

I would rather be able to place sales on my own person. As done with FFXI and FFXIV 1.0 versions. I would prefer to sell while I am leveling up in the middle of nowhere where there are no nearby venders to assist others if they happen to need something so they don't have to run/teleport out of the area just because they ran out of.. say food (for example).

I highly doubt that they're be tax free. They want to keep money moving out of the game's economy. There may be a reduced tax, but they won't pull the tax completely. This is basically just dragging Rolan-mall in from FFXI and making it like the old market wards where I'll have to run, NPC to NPC, looking for something specific. Or I could, you know, just go to the Market Board and save myself a massive headache.

I've definitely seen personal shops before. DFO and RO2 are the first other games that come to mind for me.

In the current system? It'd work well in areas where it is inconvenient/unpleasant to travel back to the marketboard/vendor to get the items you need. Like Nova_Dresden said earlier, I also don't expect it to be tax-free.

In the real world, even back when people first started opening up shops and selling wares, usually, they did so either out in the street in FRONT of their home...or in a special room attached to their home, but separate from the living quarters. (THINK main street store fronts, where the store is on the street level, but the merchant and his family lived in the 2nd/3rd story apartment above it.

I don't know where you are from, but where I grew up in the Rural US, people had vegetable/crafted goods etc stands along the road all the time. Heck ,you paid by the 'honor system' at many of them. You'd leave money in the box/basket for the items you wished to buy instead of having someone stand along the road all day collecting money.

My point: In real life, most people don't set up shop IN their homes, they do so outside it...or attached, but still separate from their actual living quarters..

Yeah you are right. The inconvenience of setting up the seacom again after a dc or even checking on other bazaar for hope of getting a cheap bargain.
This is also the reason why i've changed to using the guildwork command. I'm able to search for all bazaar in the world while hiding in the comfort of my moghouse and still be able to see the cheapest deal around vanadiel.

Silly people, in the 21st century only old people buy from the store, We now have Amazon! you buy from electronics to groceries, all in one place!

No really, the idea is farfetched, it is not viable for the way people like to flood most visited areas, it will be a complete mess to sift trough a bunch of retainers in a small area.

Still not a fan of the whole fracturing the market thing. The broker provides a centralized location to do business; I have no desire to have to sift through personal shops to find stuff.

You may not able to answer this but here goes. Will we be able to use the vanity crystals to change the retainer's look? My FC house, which I am close to to saving for, will be on an RP server and serve as our headquarters. As such the NPC would be better to be in Flames gear for us. So will customization be available?

Kind of awkward, but they did bring it back with the addition of the search system they later added in 1.x.

Bazaar is a broken system, it becomes a Where is the best place to camp, Then SE would need to make a search, Then SE may as well make a buy from anywhere. Or they could make a market board system. oh wait they did.

I wonder if the house stores Hvinire mentioned will be in 2.3 instead.

If we get personal store NPCs (not the one we can place in the houses) I hope we can change their gears
