Sooo.. translated that means either you didn't get Legacy status and hence are still sour over that, or else you don't consider the unique Legacy chocobo, your name in the end credits, the lowest rate for subscription fees with all the bonuses of the premium rate, and Day 1 of Phase 1 Beta access plus early access for this game, to be enough?

Oh, and for the record, I'm a Legacy player but I never bothered getting the gobbue mount (mostly because I thought there were dumb looking in FFXI and didn't really care too much about riding one). I wouldn't mind getting one now, but it's no fur off my tail if I don't. Really, you're making a veritable mountain out of something that just isn't worth complaining about.

what about the Exclusive minion cait sith? they said its only for players who pre ordered the game.
when they give a different gobbue i want a cait sith with a hat or something.

Actually my wife and I bought 2 copies of the game on first release, hated it so tossed it aside...Did not know about the release until beta phase 2 and got in and decided again not to play. It was not until some friends joined in that we decided we would come back on. Because of all that we payed for 2 copies 2 times and got no legacy anything.

So I am entitled to comment all I want to. That and we have played and bought every single FF game ever made. So in that sense we are life long customers.

A re skinned mount will not carry the same badge as the original to anyone. All gamers know the difference , everyone making the argument that SE should not be able to release as many mounts based on goobbues as they want are just being childish and selfish.

I feel bad for people who had the goobbue mount before, I always viewed it as some sort of prestige item that I was jealous of.

Was my own fault that I didn't play the game back then, and thought it was a nice reward for those who stuck around with such a rocky development. Sorry you guys :(

Funny how people insult us by using the term Indian givers,when in fact we are not the ones who ever dishonored any agreements ...I could think of a few better figures to describe what you are trying to and they do not involve my people.

New people having a goobbue doesn't stop me having my 1.0 goobbue. It's a vanity item and denying it to new people wouldn't give me any particular pleasure so I don't see why they shouldn't be allowed one. If it were actual gear that people had to work for that was being given away like smarties then I'd have a problem with it but with this, no.
I was a little disappointed that the darklight that was such a pain to beat the rng for which meant we had to put in a huge amount of work for in 1.0 became so easy to get but for something we just had to speak to an npc to get like the goobbue I have no problem with it being made available to new players.

Since someone asked: I'd be more than happy to let anyone who didn't buy the collector edition get a coeurl [if they discontinued the collector's edition]. I do not see the big deal. If I had a friend who really wanted a coeurl and couldn't get it, I would feel bad for him. GW2 tried it and people are complaining about it everywhere. ^^;

I'm sad a little, but it's not from a lack of privilege. (I may even use my goobbue mount more, once they're available to all, fwiw.) Just some sadness that Yoshi-P loses a little more of his integrity.

If people are OK with "the goobbue mount can only be obtained before the release of FINAL FANTASY XIV Version 2.0" (official statement) meaning "Oh, we meant just that particular goobbue mount. We'll actually make nearly identical goobbue mounts available to everyone", then they have no justification to be upset over any other hair-splitting and weaseling by SE like exorbitant housing pricing, or future re-colors of "exclusive" pre-order and collector's edition perks made available to all.

eh. I played 1.0. I didn't bother with the goobue.
and as someone who did pay a subscription - just not at the 'right' time frame for legacy, let me tell you if you think all you've got is a freaking MOUNT then I'd gladly have you pay my extra subscription cost I have for not being legacy. while we're at it, why don't you give me the 80€ I paid for my 1.0 CE?

the goobue is JUST AS USELESS as the white raven. you get a free mount by simply playing the main scenario

This one isn't exactly hair-splitting, but even if it were, it wouldn't simply be an issue of them going back on their word that's the problem. That is a case of something simply being a genuine PitA that ends up being detrimental to everyone.

That would be lame... Since they could just make the unaltered items available to everyone.
Time-limited content, out-of-game exclusives, etc. need to completely and utterly die.

If they're going to do things like this I say just do away with anything and everything that was and is exclusive. As I said earlier in the topic, there are things that even as a legacy player I missed out on from 1.0. I've never complained about not having them but would love another chance to obtain said things in order to sate my inner completionist.

Funny, I don't see "this" or "that" in the quote. ;) If anything, they specifically were vague, rather than specifically stating this wouldn't be the only one. (And to be precise, the goobbue mount was only for v1 characters that completed the Lv30 quest during that time. Not all Legacy players qualified.)

I suppose your point is that marketers and companies weasel and split hairs like you describe all the time, and it should be expected. Which is why I say that nobody should be surprised to see coeurl mounts and cait sith minions (with perhaps a different bow color) in the future, despite being touted as exclusive perks for pre-orders and CEs.

My point is that during the v1 days, the vibe was that Yoshi-P would always be honest with players, even if it meant admitting mistakes and apologizing. What's sad to see is that his redefining of his previous statements is increasing. At this point I wouldn't be surprised to see the End of Era content reprised as "flashback" content, available and playable in ARR.

pretty much. it didn't really mean a problem to me since my highest battle class when I stopped playing (roughly in march/april 2012, which is why I barely didn't make it to 'legacy' which used to annoy me but I'm 'over it') was 21. even the goobue couldn't bring me to at least level up to 30 - and I am .still. not 50 on any of them. lol. but I'm a special case, I know that :P
(I had alchemy at 30-something but heh...)

I get the sense that a lot of players think that Yoshi-P and SE made some sort of solemn blood oath that they would never ever allow anyone to obtain anything at all like this ever again. It was just a limited time reward, and what they said about it is still true, you could only get that exact mount before 2.0. It's not at all splitting hairs to say they never committed to not introducing a different goobue mount, they definitely did not. I don't think they ever really even COMMITTED to never allowing someone to get that one again, it was just noted that it could only be obtained then because they had no plans to introduce it again at the time and wanted players to make sure they got it if they wanted it.

Maybe I'm wrong and there was some sort of in-game blood ritual where Yoshi-P pledged upon his soul that he would never again allow for any other sort of goobue mount... but I doubt it.

Funny you should say that about the coeurl mount. Looking at the behemoth mount doesn't it's stance and build sort of remind you of something? Just scaled up slightly, reskinned and the saddle replaced with a man throne...

Goobbue vs no goobbue can pretty much be summed up as:

People who supported the game when it needed it the most (angry) vs people who are bitter that they missed out on 1.0 stuff (happy).

It's the same as grand company chocobos vs legacy chocobos. Legacy people still get their special version unavailable to non-legacy... Honestly the amount of entitlement (some) legacy players continue to show is astounding........

guess what? I .still. think that way, even about the new one introduced.

and I'm fairly sure you do .not. want to tell anyone that people who paid for the game three months (so roughly 45 dollar) supported the game more than ... say.. I don't know... EVERYONE who bought the 1.0 CE (for me for example that was 80€ just for the 1.0 CE)... yet alone the people who subbed for months but - for whatever reason - decided not to during the last three months of the game...

A few of the detractors of the new Gobbue mount have been crying foul concerning lying, lack of integrity or whatever but pray tell, what exactly did they lie about in this situation? The passage provided in this very thread concerning the first Gobbue mount (which is, get this, still exclusive to those who were around to claim it in the window that it was available) never stated that there would never be another Gobbue mount, just that the Gobbue mount (in reference to the only one available at the time) would not be available again.

From what we can see, SE has not gone back on this. As a non-legacy player, I do not all of a sudden have access to your special snowflake Gobbue in addition to the one we are getting, so what is with the almost collective lack of reading comprehension? Hell, if you guys are really that concerned you can take solace in the fact that you now have TWO Gobbues, something we still would not have!

I do not necessary disagree with the other issues you brought up concerning statements SE has made but this is definitely one of the more esoteric complaints I have seen.

if anything legacy members are to blame that they didn't reboot the game sooner. people who have made characters post 1.0 shut down should get exclusive mounts that separate themselves from the legacy characters.

It's ok just never let Legacy players transfer servers so they can feel special they won't have to see non legacy players with it.

Meh, I only ride around on my Legacy chocobo anyway. I don't really care about the other mounts. Somehow I knew this topic would crop up though.
