Pressing the Windows button on the keyboard in full screen mode crashes the game

No, they didn't. And people sure find convenient excuses to justify SE not fixing this. In alpha, "it's only an alpha!!", in beta "it's only a beta!!!!1" and now it's "there are more important things to do!!!1one".

Well guess what, that's bullshit.

First, there are multiple teams working on multiple things
Second, the amount of time it takes to fix this makes it almost trivial to fix, which won't slow down other issues.

And yes, I am using my own method to fix alt-tab in the meantime.

I'm not trying to be rude Kai but the dev team did not listen to player feedback like you apparently believe. They included a Windowed mode in a half-assed way of acknowledging that people wanted to run in a window so they could web browse, etc. What they did not listen to is the people who wanted to play in full screen and also alt tab. That is 100% unaddressed by the FFXI dev team. And as that is the case, the point of view you are trying to lay on the table has no relevance to this thread. On top of that, it's annoying that you are defending SE when they clearly haven't even fixed FFXI, and now in 2011 a new game crashes when you press a button.
