Who is your favorite final fantasy character?

He was a humble and honorable one, a pretty down-to-earth hero that always had a smile in his face. Angeal did a fine job with him.

He just had bad luck and was killed because, even when facing an army by himself, he was willing to give his life to protect his friend. Without Zack there wouldn't be Cloud, and Sephiroth would have won. He wasn't the most powerful character in the world (even if he had the potential), but if what he did doesn't make him a true hero I don't know what would qualify as one.

And all that is also what makes Zack my fav FF character :)

I still cry when I watch that ending. That song... Those words... I don't like sad endings, but I really love that one.

Favorite dudes: Vivi, Cid (FF7), Sephiroth. He made mistakes and a lot of assumptions, he was more human than he realized. Then he went cray cray.

Favorite ladies: Lulu, Fran (For her voice), Tifa (She gets brownie points for being strong enough to survive until the end of the game, being so devoted to Cloud even though he's a bit of a jerk).

Characters I would strangle given the chance: Aeris, Penelo, Quina, Lucretia

Favorite couple: Definitely Tidus/Yuna. At least before FFX-2. The ending to FFX made me shed manly tears, and I'm not even a man.

Prishe was just all kinds of win in CoP. Spunky, adorable, and helpful in a fight too! She really livened things up in the game IMO (and she's freaking awesome in Dissidia). Zack shouldn't even need an explanation, but I will always view him as the real Hero of FF7 and not Cloud, who's just a placeholder/pretender (and whom also becomes waaaaaay too emo afterwards in the movie and Dirge of Cerberus). Once a pussy, always a pussy - even if he's got some power in him now. On that note, I actually really, really liked Sephiroth as a Hero way better than a Villain. At least in Crisis Core he had personality and was genuinely cool, instead of acting like some crazed lunatic with mommy issues - he wasn't anything special in 7, just some freak who snapped and lost his mind unlike Kefka who was genuinely psychotic (and still the single best villain ever).

Lightning-
I love female characters who has a strong female lead. I don't like push over female characters they annoy me. She is kick ass and also very beautiful.

Rikku-
I usually don't like bubble headed female characters but Rikku holds a place in my heart. Her optimism and fun loving nature vs the rest of the characters in 10 / 10-2 made her very refreshing.

Ashe-
Strong female lead plus her weapon is sexy. :<

Gau, Cause hes crazy!

Ramza Beoulve.

Steiner.

Why? He knows what it means to be loyal. Although he is viewed as an annoyance to most players, I think his undying loyalty to Princess Garnet is really respectable.

FF5 originally. :) Since his appearance there he's appeared in multiple games in the series (and some of the remakes of earlier ones tossed him in as a secret boss). He has the distinction of actually being the same character every time, rather than different guys who look the same -- with the exception of 11, where he was a specific NPC (though they never didn't say he was different, so you never know...)

FF5 is highly recommended. The plot is goofy, but it really hit the spot when it comes to the Job system which defines later games in the series so well. Even FF14 here takes some specific cues with the way classes work.

Tidus was a goof, but he was what he needed to be: An ignorant audience-surrogate to whom Spira's predicament could be fully explained. It played well into Yuna's quest. And Yuna was a frickin' badass. It's mind-boggling that she gets passed up as a "strong" female character in favor of Lightning of all people, who really seemed (in the English version, at least) flat, abrasive, and unlikeable. Soft-spoken, good-natured, and self-effacing traits don't preclude absolute heroism, and Yuna had all of that. Say what you will of the sequel to X, she of all characters deserved it (also, if anything, should have gone even more party-wild, "I'm ¥‎una, I saved the world, get outta my way, y'all bitches")

The series is great with characters like that. Look at Terra, who had a thoroughly satisfying arc about self-discovery which reached it's conclusion in world-of-ruin Mobliz. Helping to destroy evil was just a thing she did afterwards, 'cause she's cool like that. Meanwhile, Celes is the one who made that final push, bringing the group back together to deliver unto Kefka a few 9999-damage kicks in the nuts.

Hell, look at Aeris. I hate how everyone remembers her only as being the delicate flower-girl who dies and Cloud angsts. She was the only person with a good idea of what was actually going on in FF7's story (plus, she was a brazen wonderful tart and Tifa had nothing on her audacity). She was murdered, yeah, because she was the single biggest threat to the bad guy's plans, and compared to her Cloud was nothing -- less than nothing, even, since he was being pretty much mind-controlled that whole time.

Rest in peace, last of the Cetra, you had more balls than the rest of 'em combined. /salute

DiMaggio also voices Gilgamesh in FFXIII-2. Loved it.

Especially the part where he breaks the fourth wall.

Also, @ the OP. If Lightning is your favorite character in the series, you really, really need to play more of the series. She the blandest character in the series since Cloud, even if she's not quite as bad as him. Cloud, he gets turned into a vegetable 3/4 of the way through the game....and you can't tell the difference. -_-

But yes, Kefka is pure Win, though just about ever character in that game is awesome. I would give an honorable mention to the Turks in FF7. Forget Sephiroth, I reallly wish they'd been the main villain(s) instead.
